A Creepy Message

Linda’s POV

As I bent down to pick up the yellow folder, a sense of curiosity mingled with the remnants of my annoyance. It felt too deliberate, too calculated to be a mere accident. Or maybe I was being paranoid.

I had been through a lot, so it would make sense if I was just analyzing things way too deeply.

“Gosh, I’m so sorry, are you okay?” The woman asked me, she was very pretty and looked innocent. But that did not mean that she was.

I flashed her a smile and said, “Yeah, I’m good. It’s alright, don't worry about it, we all make mistakes.” I handed the folder to her.

“Oh, that’s not for me,” She replied smoothly, without missing a beat. “It belongs to you.”

I furrowed my eyebrows, shaking my head slowly as I glanced at the folder once more. It felt very light in my hand.

I chuckled lightly. “I’m sorry but I don’t think it is.” I gestured for her to take it from my hand. I knew that it belonged to her, so why was she pretending that I didn’t?
