POV Zara

I had to attend an event in the mall where Yvette dropped me off, as I told her I’ll head home myself. Kayden and I are supposed to go out for dinner.

I couldn’t believe it when I saw him. Noah. Right there, standing in the mall.

The moment I saw his face, I suddenly remembered that this mall was owned by the Quinns. Of course, he would be here. What a small world.

He was smiling as he walked over to me, “You came here for an event?”

I smiled back, trying to keep it casual. “Yes. I forgot that this place belongs to your family. If I’d known, I would have curried favour with you to get paid more!”

Noah chuckled, but there was something in his eyes. “Do you still need money now?”

“Of course I need it,” I joked, but deep down, I felt that familiar tension. We were walking outside together, just like old times, but it wasn’t the same anymore. Everything was different now.
