Chapter 2 Ceremony

Everyone in our pack is here for the ceremony. We’re all just standing in a large group. There are some quiet conversations going on. Everyone is looking around. I know we have longer of a wait because these gatherings usually take awhile.

I wipe the sweat from my forehead and take a look around to see if I can find my parents or my best friend Reggie. Since I’m much taller than everyone now, I spot Reggie pretty fast and start making my way thru the crowd.

With my new larger size, people seem intimated of me. That’s probably why they quickly move out of my way.

I spot Reggie, he’s close to the front of the makeshift stage. As I’m walking towards the front of the stage to Reggie, I see Luna, Alpha Tomas, his daughter Bianca and another wolf walking down from the pack house towards the stage.

I make eye contact with the Luna and she gives me a seductive smile that makes me blush with nervousness. Not wanting anyone to notice the way she’s smiling at me, I grab Reggie and ask him to walk a little further back with me from the stage.

“Dude, whats going on,” Reggie asks? “I just don’t like being in front of people” I lie. As I am saying that, everything goes quiet and the ceremony begins.

Alpha Tomas starts talking about the history of the mate bond and how the ceremony has always been given and the importance of it all. Blah blah blah I think in my mind. I hate these ceremonies and it sucks to be forced to attend these.

I have never given it a thought as to finding a mate. I know less than half of us in the pack ever will. I’m also shy so I wouldn’t even know where to start or what I’m supposed to do!

I know I only recently begun attracting a lot of attention because of my new large build, but Im still unsure of what to do if a she wolf approaches me with Interest. I’m just not that kind of wolf that likes attention.

I’m a quiet person and typically keep to myself unless I’m around my buddy Reggie. I’ve known him since we were in diapers playing in mud puddles and our parents are very old friends.

Alpha Tomas moves away from the podium and gently grabs his daughter and her mate and has them stand face to face in front of where everyone can see. They start the mate bond tradition. The mate, I didn’t catch his name as I was in deep thought while Alpha Tomas was talking, opens his mouth wide allowing his canines to extend.

Then he bites the Alpha’s daughter on her neck and she lets out a gasp. They stand there looking at each other, then Bianca opens her mouth showing her canines and bites him on his neck.

The mate marking part of the ceremony was concluded. The rest of the ceremony will be us lingering here in the courtyard while the newly mated pair make their way into the pack house to the mate room.

They will forge the mate bond with sex. We are required by pack law to listen to the mating process and howl in agreement to our future leaders.

Owwwooooo, owwwooooo, owwwooooo owwwoooo owwwooooo owwwooooo and it just continues for what seems like FOREVER! In deep thought, I think to myself how I wish I didn’t have to be here. I just don’t care about these stupid rituals and why does it take SO long!

FINALLY, after what seems like a LIFETIME, the howling dies down. The mating process finished.
