Nancy became even more excited. 'As I expected, Laura must have said something bad about me to Chris! It's a good thing that I got out of bed early today and bumped into Chris. This allowed me to have a chance to explain things to him. Otherwise, Chris would continue to misunderstand me!'

Under Nancy's expectant gaze, Chris said, "Do you think you're worthy of being slandered by her?"

The cold voice echoed in Nancy's ears.
