Sick, Sad, Bullied Bride

"What is happening here?" Jared walked in looking a bit out of sorts.

Had he run down here?

"What the fuck, Hailey?! What is this?" He slowly walked to my front and stooped before me.

"Ask your girlfriend, Jared. She did this." A small part of me hoped he would believe me.

Barely twenty four hours into this family and I was already seeing hell.

"What are you talking about?" Jared's tone carried befuddlement.

"Stop lying, you wretched girl!" Martha cursed.

"Don't listen to her, babe." Mia was speaking in her 'pity me' tone again.

"Can someone explain to me what is happening here? Why is her wedding dress torn and her underwear in view?" He was looking me, expecting answers from any one of us.

"I..."

"I came into the bathroom to pee." Mia started, cutting me off. "I noticed she followed me and came at me with a pair of scissors and a jar of ink. I was surprised to see her but before I could react, she wanted to pour the ink on me. We struggled and only a little smeared on my skin while the rest stained her dress."

She began to cry. Martha consoled her.

"See what you've done. Do you know the family she's from?" Martha lashed out.

"It's okay, Martha. Let me explain to Jared." Mia sniffled and continued. "So she brought out the pair of scissors, I got mad that she was attacking me without reason. I mean she tore the dress you bought for me. See?" She pointed the ripped parts to Jared. "I love this dress because you bought it for me. It...m-means a lot to me. I got lost it and gained possession of the scissors and tore her dress. I'm sorry if I ruined your wedding babe, I...I just..." She sobbed harder.

Jared left my side and went to her. He hugged her tight. "It's okay. You were just defending yourself."

I was not surprised he'd sided with his girlfriend but I was hurt regardless.

"You! What is wrong with you Hailey? Why do you keep causing havoc in my life? Why are you after destroying important things in my life? First, it was my career which is why we're having this sham of a marriage in the first place and now, you want to kill her? Why?" He was angry and testy.

I could not find words, only tears ran down my face.

"Stop with the tears already! It's annoying how you paint yourself as the victim when you're obviously the perpetrator!" He accused. "My important guests are beginning to ask about you and now, you're nowhere to be found at your own wedding. You told me you wanted to use the bathroom. Was this your plan?!"

"It could be. Maybe she wants to get rid of Mia and take over fully in your life. She knows how much you love Mia and wants to ruin that." Martha commented maliciously.

Jared walked closer to me, his girlfriend on his arm. "Get up."

I remained where I was, too drained for any more confrontations. I just wanted them to leave so I could lie on this cold floor and cry my eyes out.

I was also feeling sick inside and out.

"Get up now!"

His cold, menacing tone had me jolting and scrambling to my feet, but I rested my back to the wall for support and kept swallowing bile that persistently rose to my throat.

"Mia is the woman I love. You and I will never happen, not in this lifetime nor the next. Our marriage is purely in paper alone. Don't get any ideas, do you understand me?!"

I slowly met his gaze then, wearily eyed Mia on his arm. Then cast my gaze back to him. "Where's uncle Pete?"

I needed to leave here.

Martha chuckled. "The nerve of you. My son's talking to you and you're ignoring his words? How very dare you?!"

Martha moved as though she wanted to hit me.

"Hold your mother, Jared. She needs to stop hitting me. I'm not her slave. I'm not a slave to anyone of you at all." I mustered strength to utter these words.

"You!"

"It's okay, mom. Leave her." I noticed he was scrutinizing me.

"What are we going to do now? What do we tell the guests?" Martha had brought down her hand but she gave me the meanest glare.

"I'll just use her pregnancy as an excuse. I'll call Uncle Pete to come take her home." He brought out his phone.

"You didn't bring the blanket?" Martha inquired.

"Oh." Then he heaved an exasperated sigh. "In my haste, I forgot to ask these hotel people. I'll have Uncle Pete bring it."

Just as he was about to dial the number, his phone rang. I was getting weaker and the nausea was getting difficult to tame.

I sank back to the floor and hung my head low. I never knew how carrying a pregnancy was difficult until now. This was just the fourth week, I still had like thirty something weeks to go.

I groaned but it was low. I closed my eyes to keep from throwing up.

"Yes, uncle. There's a situation. Come meet us in the bathroom, the female section. And please bring a blanket." He ended the call. "What is wrong with you?" He asked.

"Definitely seeking for attention." Martha answered.

"She's so extra, babe." Mia added.

I ignored them and focused on trying to make it out of here without falling flat on my face or vomiting all over the floor.

"What's happening? The security is beginning to wonder why we're all gathered in the female bathroom." Uncle Pete had just stepped in. "What's wrong with Hailey?"

I felt him move closer, but I was scared of moving any part of my body so I would not vomit. I was also beginning to feel very warm.

"I don't know. Probably being her dramatic self again." Jared replied with zero sympathy or emotions.

"Why would you say that?" Uncle Pete came to me and tried to help me up. "She's burning up." He observed with a slight alarm in his tone.

I heard a scoff.

No sooner had he helped me to my feet when the bile rose and this time, I couldn't stop it. I threw up all over Jared's expensive attire because he was standing before me.

From his custom-made suit to his leather shoes.

"What the hell?!"
