Angeline twisted her water bottle closed. The music in her ears pounded vigorously, and she hadn't heard what Ned had said. She picked up her phone from the bench and glanced at it. The time was almost up. She stopped the music, removed her earphones, and adjusted her breathing as she began walking back.

Ned watched her answer a call as she left. His happy expression melted away, and he looked like an abandoned puppy.

He knew there was a long way to go before Angeline forgave him.

Nevertheless, he would keep trying until Angeline forgave him one day.
