SEBASTIAN

I buried my head in my lap, my fingers still tightly gripping Callie’s hand as she lay motionless in the bed. Her steady breathing was the only comfort I had left in this hospital room that had been filled with too many emotions, too many complications. I was drained… physically, mentally, emotionally.

Lucas was gone. Nora had taken his body away, and I was left with the overwhelming sense that the world around me had become a place I couldn’t control.

Lucas deserved what happened to him. His obsession with Callie had put us all in danger. But I couldn't escape the guilt that gnawed at me. Nora had been the one to bring him here, had trusted him to do something noble, something good for Callie. She had believed in him. And now, she would have to face the consequences of all of it. Her boss, her colleagues… they wouldn't see it the way I did. She'd be punished for it, and it was my fault.

I closed my eyes, exhaling slowly, trying to block out the images of Lucas, of what had

CALLIEI took a deep breath, letting the cool air fill my lungs as I placed my hand on Sebastian's. His fingers wrapped around mine, and without a word, he helped me step out of the car.I was home.I’d spent what felt like an eternity in the hospital, drifting between fear and hope, and now, finally, I was stepping into the life I’d been fighting to get back to. The life with Sebastian. “You good?” he asked softly, his hand steady on my back as he guided me up the steps.“Yeah,” I whispered, giving him a tired but genuine smile. “Better.”He never let me out of his sight, even for a second. I knew he was just trying to take care of me, but I felt a small pang of guilt. I wanted to be strong for him, for us.“Welcome home, baby,” he said.I leaned into his touch, feeling his warmth and the steady beat of his heart as we walked through the front door together. As soon as we stepped inside, my heart leaped for joy, an overwhelming wave of happiness and gratitude flooded through me. SEBASTIANThe church was filled with people, most of them faces I barely recognized- business associates, distant relatives, and acquaintances who probably didn’t know much about the man we were here to bury. The wooden casket rested at the altar, covered in a black cloth with a single silver cross embroidered at its center. The priest stood solemnly by the pulpit, as he read passages of comfort and farewell.I sat in the front row, my hands clasped tightly together. I should have felt relief, even satisfaction. After all, I’d spent years waiting for this moment, the day when my father’s empire would become mine. Yet, as I stared at the casket, I felt so downcast. He had changed in the last months… softened, even. He had become the father I’d always wanted him to be, but it had come too late. And now, he was gone.Callie sat beside me, her hand resting gently on my knee. Her presence was a steady anchor in the chaos of my thoughts. She didn’t say anything, but her touch spoke volumes

DAMON“Shut up!” Charlotte snapped, her voice echoing through the room. “I’m done listening to your lies. You think I don’t know you’ve been waiting for this moment? Manipulating me? Using me?”“Charlotte, please,” Sophia begged, tears streaming down her face. “I’ll leave. I’ll disappear. You won’t have to see me again. Just… just don’t do this!”Charlotte tilted her head slightly, her finger resting on the trigger. “Oh, you’ll disappear alright.”The shot rang out loud and Sophia crumpled to the ground, her body hitting the floor with a lifeless thud.I stumbled backward, my hands shaking. “Charlotte… please,” I stammered, my knees buckling. “We can fix this. I’ll do whatever you want.”Her gaze locked on mine, and a smirk spread across her face. “What I want,” she said slowly, “is for you to burn for everything you’ve done.”Before I could respond, the gunshot echoed through the room once more. A sharp pain exploded in my chest, and I collapsed to the floor, gasping for air.Charlot

CALLIEThe flight landed and as we stepped out of the private jet, I slipped my sunglasses on, barely suppressing my grin as I glanced at Sebastian. He looked calm and composed,His hand rested protectively on the small of my back, guiding me down the steps of the jet.At the bottom, a fleet of luxury cars waited. A team of dressed attendants stood by, waiting to serve us.The moment our feet touched the tarmac, a man in a black suit stepped forward and offered a respectful bow. "Sir, Ma'am, welcome. We hope your flight was pleasant."“It was,” Sebastian replied, his voice carrying that effortless charm that always made my heart flutter. Two other attendants moved swiftly, collecting our luggage with care. “We’ll take care of everything,” one of them assured us, as he loaded the bags into the trunk of the lead car.“Thank you,” I said, trying to mask my surprise at the level of hospitality.“Ma’am, your car is ready,” another attendant said, addressing me directly.Ma’am? SEBASTIANCallie sat beside me, as we moved to the branch office, her fingers tapping nervously against her lap. Despite her earlier determination, I could tell she was anxious about stepping into her new role.“You’ll be fine,” I said, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze. “You’ve earned this, Callie. Don’t let anyone make you feel otherwise.”She smiled at me, though the tension in her shoulders remained. “I know. It’s just… a lot, you know? Being the CEO.”“Trust me,” I said, a smirk tugging at my lips, “you’ll handle it better than half the men who think they’re entitled to it.”She laughed softly, her nerves easing a little. When we arrived at the branch office, the atmosphere shifted immediately. As we stepped into the gigantic glass building, employees stopped in their tracks, bowing their heads in greeting.“Sir, Ma’am,” they murmured respectfully.Callie’s grip on my hand tightened slightly, but her expression remained poised. She was a natural, even if she didn’t fully reali

TWO DAYS AGONORAThe hallway stretched endlessly in front of me. My heart pounded harder than usual, and it wasn’t because of the long walk. I wasn’t just nervous… I was terrified.Lucas was dead.My boss had warned me. Don’t take him to the hospital, Nora. But I hadn’t listened. I thought I could control the situation.Instead, Lucas had made a choice… a final, irrevocable choice. He’d killed himself, and no amount of my reasoning or regret could undo it.I reached the door to Grayson’s office and paused. My hand hovered over the handle, my fingers trembling. I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself, but it didn’t work.Get it together, Nora. You’ve faced worse. But this was different. Lucas wasn’t just another case. He was someone I’d sworn to protect and now he was gone.Pushing the door open, I stepped inside. The aroma of grilled chicken filled the air as I stepped into Grayson’s office. The room was dimly lit, the heavy curtains blocking most of the sunlight. Grayson sat be

NORA“Oh, nothing specific,” I replied breezily. “Just that you strike me as someone who’s very organized. Someone who notices everything happening around her.” I paused, letting the words sink in. “You must’ve known Callie well, living so close to her. Did you two get along?”She hesitated, her eyes narrowing. “We were friendly enough. I brought her cookies once or twice, but we weren’t particularly close.”“Cookies,” I echoed with a smile. “That’s kind of you. I suppose you’d notice if something unusual was happening at her place? Say, people coming and going?”Mrs Reynolds shifted uncomfortably in her chair. “I’m not a nosy neighbor, if that’s what you’re suggesting.”“Oh, no, not at all,” I said smoothly. “But sometimes we can’t help but notice things. Like, for instance, a call made to Callie on the day Ethan was killed.”Her breath hitched, a small, involuntary reaction. Got you.“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said quickly, too quickly.I leaned forward, my eyes l

PRESENT DAYCALLIEI leaned against the desk, my legs barely holding me up as what I’d just heard sank in. My hands gripped the edge so tightly my knuckles turned white. Charlotte. Ethan’s own mother. I knew she was cold, manipulative even, but this? This was a new level of evil.My mind raced, piecing it all together. Mrs Reynolds… she’d been working with Charlotte all along.“Wait,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “Mrs Reynolds… that night… she was the one who put the house on fire, wasn’t she?”Sebastian froze mid-step, his hand running through his hair as he paced the room. His disbelief was evident in the way his shoulders sagged.“It’s starting to make sense now,” I continued, swallowing hard.My stomach churned at the thought of how meticulously this had all been planned.Sebastian didn’t respond, his eyes fixed on the floor as if the answers were hidden in the carpet. He walked to the corner of the room, his hands on his hips, staring at the wall.I could imagine the sho

CALLIEI slapped Sebastian’s chest, the frustration bubbling inside me. “You should’ve just told me all this sooner! You could’ve spared me all the stress and drama.”He winced slightly, “I didn’t want to tell you because I knew you’d be scared. You wouldn’t have agreed to let my guy shoot her. Not here, not today.”I was about to retort when I glanced around, my gaze landing on the guests who still remained eerily silent. My heart tightened with a sudden wave of discomfort. “Wait… have the guests been informed about all of this? About what’s happening?”Sebastian gave me that damn smile of his, the one that made everything seem like it was under control. “Oh, they know. I had to tell them. I didn’t want there to be chaos when it all went down.”I narrowed my eyes. “You’re not serious,” I muttered, lightly hitting his head playfully. "You had to make sure everything went according to plan, even the guests."He chuckled softly. “Callie, you’re the one who’s always thinking things throu

The entire room seemed to tense as the officers approached Charlotte, who was still writhing on the floor, her hands desperately clutching at her bleeding legs."Charlotte Lawson," Nora’s voice rang out, echoing through the room, "You are under arrest for attempted murder. You’re also charged with the murder of Damon Wright and the murder of your son, Lucas Lawson."My heart skipped a beat. Attempted murder? Who’s Damon? CALLIEIt was my day. My fucking wedding day. They were doing my makeup, but I couldn’t stop staring at my reflection. The brushes moved across my face like they were supposed to, but my mind kept drifting, wondering how the hell I had ended up here. This was supposed to be the day I’d dreamed about since I was a little girl, the perfect celebration of love and happiness. But instead, all I could think about was how surreal it felt. Was this really happening? Was I really about to marry Sebastian? The makeup artist was still blending foundation on my cheeks, oblivious to the whirlwind in my head. The soft smell of flowers, the faint noise of voices around me…it all seemed like a dream. How did I get here? How had I gone from feeling like I was losing everything to standing here, about to walk down the aisle with the man who’d promised me forever?I caught my reflection again, my eyes roaming over the dress. It was beautiful, something I never thought I’d get to wear. The past few mon

SEBASTIANI kept my eyes on the road, but my attention was mostly on Callie. She was sitting there quiet, her fingers tapping nervously against her knee. I knew she was still upset about Charlotte… hell, I was too…but this surprise... it was meant to take her mind off things. It was meant to make her forget all about that witch and focus on us.I glanced over at her, and for a moment, our eyes met. I could see the worry still clouding her thoughts, but her lips curled up just slightly. That was all I needed. I wasn’t giving up. I had promised her everything, and I would keep that promise.I loved Callie more than anything. The thought of her standing by my side for the rest of our lives filled me with a sense of pride I couldn’t put into words. But today… today was about proving it. I wasn’t just going to let some meddling woman ruin our joy. Not today. Not ever.I pulled up to the curb, the tires rolling over the gravel, and stopped in front of the building. My heart was racing, my

CALLIEThe bell chimed softly as we stepped into the cake shop, the rich scent of vanilla and chocolate filled the air. The baker, a cheerful woman in her forties with flour dusting her apron, welcomed us with a bright smile.“Good afternoon!” she greeted. “You must be the Thompsons?”“That’s us,” Sebastian replied, wrapping an arm around my waist. “Or at least, soon-to-be Thompsons.”I smiled, still thinking about my wedding dress. I had just bought my dream wedding gown… a simple but stunning straight dress. I couldn’t wait to wear it as I walked down the aisle to marry the man standing beside me.The baker ushered us to a cozy table near the counter, where a variety of cake samples had already been laid out. “Alright, let’s get started. These are some of our most popular flavors. Feel free to let me know if there’s something specific you’d like to try.”We sat down, and I immediately reached for a small fork, eager to dive in. CALLIEI was in the kitchen, still in my pajamas, hair tied up in a loose bun, trying to focus on slicing tomatoes without nicking my fingers. The scent of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, and I found it comforting as I hummed softly to myself.I was just about to layer the slices onto the bread when a pair of strong arms wrapped around my waist from behind, pulling me gently against a warm chest.“My fiancée,” Sebastian’s deep voice purred into my ear, sending a shiver down my spine, “what are you cooking?”I smiled, not even bothering to turn around. “My fiancé,” I replied, mimicking his tone, “I’m making sandwiches for breakfast.”He chuckled, the sound vibrating against my back. “Sandwiches?” he murmured, his lips grazing my neck. “I don’t want to eat sandwiches.”I paused, raising an eyebrow as I turned slightly to look at him. “Oh? What do you want to eat then?”Sebastian grinned, his dark eyes gleaming mischievously as he leaned closer. “You.”I rolled my eyes, though I cou

"Charlotte was released from prison."She blinked at me, clearly not processing the news at first. "What? How? Why?""Yeah," I sighed. "Turns out, they didn’t have enough to hold her. So, she’s free."Callie’s eyebrows shot up, her lips parting in shock. "She’s free? Just like that?"I nodded. "Yeah, just like that. But it’s fine. I’m meeting with Nora tomorrow. We’ll figure this out."She leaned forward, concern etched on her face. "But if she’s out, doesn’t that complicate things? What if she comes after you again?"I smiled, a slow grin spreading across my face. "Charlotte thinks she’s smart, but I’m smarter. I’ve got a plan. A backup plan."She lifted her head. "Backup plan?"I leaned in a little, lowering my voice. "Plan B. It’s time to put it into motion."Callie sat back in her chair, eyes locked on mine

Congratulations again.”“Thank you,” I said, still slightly dazed by the realization that this entire moment had been documented. As Matt packed up his equipment and walked away, Sebastian turned to me, his hand resting lightly on my back.“Come on,” he said, steering me toward a table set up a few feet away. The table was set with twinkling candles, a crisp white tablecloth, and an array of dishes and wines.I stopped short, taking it all in. “Sebastian… this is incredible.”“I wanted it to be perfect,” he said simply, pulling out a chair for me. “For you.”The music continued to play softly in the backgroun
