Sure enough, upon hearing that I had met with the financial manager, Max looked surprised and immediately asked, "Wasn't your financial plan still a while from maturity? Why did you meet with the financial manager?"

A surge of satisfaction washed over me. Stupid jerk, you're getting anxious now, aren't you?

I replied nonchalantly, "To renew it, of course."

Max furrowed his brows. "Renew?"

I nodded, walked into the living room, and turned on the record player, placing a vinyl on it. "A few days ago, I saw an advertisement stating that the annual return had increased by one percent, ending at the end of the month. I realized that my investment would mature in less than a month. Since I might be visiting my aunt in Clanstand by then and wouldn't have time to handle it, I decided to renew it now."

"You're going to Clanstand to visit your aunt?" Max's discomfort was evident on his face. "Why haven't you mentioned this before?"
