Chapter 507

Brian answered the call, and Luke had instructed that the police could be brought up directly.

"I'm Jen Middleton, Mr. Walker's assistant and a victim of the kidnapping. I'll escort you up," I offered.

In the elevator, I wanted to ask about the progress of the investigation but feared causing trouble for Luke.

Brian was waiting at the elevator. When he saw me, a flicker of something passed through his eyes before he composed himself.

"Mr. Walker is in a meeting. Jen, please show the officers to the reception room."

"Of course."

After serving tea to the officers, Luke entered. His face was calm as he glanced at my wrist.

"Is your wound feeling any better today?"

"Thank you for asking, Mr. Walker. It's much improved."

The pain was manageable, although any movement still hurt.

"Hello, we're from Johnsonville City Police Station," one officer said, showing his badge. "We need your cooperation with our investigation."

"Certainly," Luke sat down, gesturing for them to do the same.
