Chapter 43

Kelsey quickly realized that it was Megan who tripped her.

From the corner of her eye, Megan spotted Charlie who was about to catch up. With that, she immediately pretended to help Kelsey up.

Kelsey tossed her hand away in disgust. “Go away, don't touch me!”

Even though she had only briskly shaken her off, Megan was ‘flung away’ from the force and ‘just so happened’ to hit her head against a table.

“Mom!”

Josephine cried out dramatically and rushed to her.

She called out several times, but Megan did not respond.

It appeared that she had been knocked unconscious.

Josephine was distraught.

Charlie rushed to Megan's side and held her in his arms tenderly. “Maggie?”

When Megan heard her name called, she weakly opened her eyes.

The first thing she said upon drawing her eyes open was, “Don't blame Kelsey…”

It might sound like she was trying to defend Kelsey, but the purpose was to insinuate that it was Kelsey who hurt her.
