Chapter 2

It was Tyler.

The heart-stopping face and sculpted physique belonged to Abervale’s most powerful and good-looking man.

Tyler was once Kelsey’s fiancé and the man who risked his life to save hers.

To think she had a second chance in life, and the person she opened her eyes to was him.

Kelsey stared straight at the man before her, emotions sweeping through her.

“Fancy another go?”

Tyler’s amused voice interrupted her thoughts.

His imposing figure loomed close, his gaze drilling into hers.

Kelsey then noticed that he was unclothed.

She appeared to be in her birthday suit too.

“Ah!” She exclaimed.

It dawned on her that they just had their first intimacy.

She had traveled back in time to when they first slept together.

Tight muscles rippled across his bare, sun-kissed chest which now bore traces of last night’s passion.

She left those scratches on him last night amid her struggle.

“What’s that supposed to mean? Didn’t you see me with nothing on last night?” Looking amused, Tyler asked with a bewitching smile.

“You…”

Kelsey turned red in the face.

Tyler plucked her chin up, his eyes ravaging. “We can do it again.”

As he spoke, his scorching breath, laced with raw masculinity, brushed against her skin.

Kelsey trembled.

Captivated by his charm, she nodded without a second thought. “Sure.”

Tyler froze in disbelief.

“What did you say?

Meeting his shocked gaze, Kelsey gave another nod. “I said sure.”

Now that God had given her a second chance at life, she had no reason not to hang on to the man who loved her dearly.

To her surprise, Tyler merely stared blankly at her before grinning sarcastically. “I can’t believe you would do anything for Cooper.”

He got out of bed with a grimace.

“I promised you to save Cooper. I won’t go back on my word.”

Before Kelsey could say anything, he turned away and walked into the bathroom.

In her last life, Kelsey agreed to spend the night with Tyler in exchange for Cooper’s safety.

Back then, that night was an insult to her.

Kelsey held it against Tyler, wishing she could kill him.

Nevertheless, she gritted her teeth and sold herself to Tyler for Cooper.

In a twist of fate, she returned to the night with Tyler.

Kelsey had to suspect that God was giving her a do-over in life.

Thank God for that.

She was reborn.

Kelsey returned to a time before her marriage.

“Tyler!”

Kelsey covered herself with the bed linen, jumped out of bed, and rushed to the bathroom door.

“I need a word with you.”

“What do you want to say?”

Tyler opened the door before she could knock.

Caught by surprise, Kelsey fell into his arms.

As her fingers traced the outlines of his toned abs, she recoiled her arm in fright.

Kelsey had reached her hand out and grabbed him to stop herself from falling.

Tyler’s eyes darkened, and his breathing grew ragged.

Kelsey lifted her chin in his embrace. “I don’t want you to save Cooper.”

Given that Cooper faked his abduction, it was possible that he had been lying to her from the start.

As Cooper had poisoned Kelsey’s mind in the last life, she trusted and never once doubted him.

Kelsey went as far as to offer her body to Tyler in exchange for Cooper’s safety.

Now that Kelsey thought about it, she found herself naïve.

She wondered whether things would be different if she stopped Tyler from saving Cooper.

Tyler stared into her eyes. “What game are you playing now?”

Kelsey refuted, “I’m not playing any games!”

Tyler’s face edged close to hers, the air crackling with tension.

“Just be honest that you don’t want me to touch you.”

A month ago, Kelsey threatened to take her life just to call off their engagement. Her heart was set on marrying Cooper.

Aware of Kelsey’s loyalty to Cooper, Tyler anticipated her intervention when Cooper faced Shadow Gale’s wrath for crossing a member.

Tyler reckoned that Kelsey’s resentment ran deeper after last night.

She could not possibly put up with his scent on her again.

“I—”

Feeling uncomfortable with his staring, Kelsey opened her mouth to explain.

Tyler clutched her chin and sealed her words with a vicious kiss.

He ravished her luscious lips.

The smooch whisked her away into a whirlwind of sensations, knocking the air out of her lungs.

Kelsey tried to put up a fight, but he had a tight grip over the back of her head, savoring deeper into the tongue-lock.

Tyler’s eyes turned bloodshot, reflecting the ferocity and aggression of an unleashed beast.

Just when she was about to melt in his arms, he bit her on the lips.

“Ow!” Kelsey cried out and shivered.

Hiding the emotions behind his eyes, Tyler pushed Kelsey away.

Kelsey caught her breath, her cheeks burning.

Tyler’s kisses were always intense, fervent, and feverish.

She was nearly swept away by the rush.

With her heartbeat calming down, she turned over to look at him.

Tyler was putting his clothes on.

He stood with his shirt undone, revealing the bare skin of his chest.

Tyler was hot and sexy.

He pulled his pants up with poise. “Have you seen enough?”

“Huh?”

Kelsey blushed in embarrassment.

She looked away hastily. “I…”

At this rate, she might get a nosebleed.

“Don’t contact me again.” Tyler’s husky voice rang in her ear.

Her breath hitched.

“Don’t you want me anymore?” She looked at him in surprise.

With a somber mood hanging over him, Tyler taunted, “I thought that’s what you always wanted.”

Another self-harming threat from her was more than Tyler could bear.

Kelsey was lost for words.

It was something she had always wanted in the past.

In her last life, Kelsey could not wait for Tyler to let go and cut ties with her.

That was the past, though.

Tyler took one last look at her. “Congrats, Kelsey. You’re free! I will never bother you again.”

He then turned around and walked away.

Kelsey stood there in a daze.

She reflected on whether she would screw up again in her newly granted life.

No!

She refused to be Cooper’s puppet or turn her back on the man who truly loved her.

“Hang on, Tyler.”

Kelsey grabbed her clothes, got dressed, opened the door in a hurry, and rushed out.

Tyler had entered his personal elevator by then.

He was taken aback by Kelsey running after him.

As his mind wandered back to her hateful eyes last night, he made the difficult choice to press the close button.

It was time for him to move on. He did not want to push her to do anything she did not want anymore.

A second before the elevator door glided shut, Kelsey’s desperate arm darted in.
