*Five years later*

‘I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.’ I pep talked myself as I tried not to squirm on the couch, which probably cost more than my house rent.

The house was intimidating, and though it wasn’t a mansion like I had grown up in, it was still a high-class luxury.

‘It doesn’t make sense. Why would someone with this kind of wealth want to patronize me? Me?! With her kind of money, I’m sure she has access to different luxurious designers and brands, so why me? Unless…’ I bit my inner cheek, trying to quench the fear that gripped my bones, and I shook my head.

‘No. I’m just being paranoid. From what I saw on the net, she doesn’t have any relation with my ex-husband or ex-family. And it’s been five years. They probably think I’m long dead. I really need to—’

“I’m sorry for keeping you waiting. I had an urgent call to attend to.” A young lady said as she strutted into the living room, and I stood up.

She was prettier in real life and taller than I imagined, almost a head taller than me. Silky, shoulder-length brown hair framed her face, and her blue eyes were bright and warm.

“It’s alright. I didn’t wait for too long.” I replied and stretched out my hand to her. “I’m Aurora Nigel; the owner Aurora dreams of fashion. It’s nice to meet you.”

“It’s nice to finally meet you too. I’m Bianca Warner.” She smiled and shook my hand. “Please have your seat.”

“Thank you.” I said, sitting down on the sofa as she sat on the one adjacent to mine, and I smoothed the invisible creases of my dress.

She didn’t need to tell me who she was; I already knew her, as did every girl who loved makeup. Bianca Warner was from the popular multibillionaire Warner family and owned the biggest make-up and skincare brand in the entire country. No one could compete with her; she was a god in her field.

Yet she wanted to see me! Me! When she had reached out to me, I thought it was an elaborate prank or something, and honestly, I still thought it was. The whole thing was just out of the blues. How somebody like her stumbled on my fashion page was a mystery I didn’t understand but was glad. It wasn’t that I wasn’t trying to reach out to big names, but I never expected her.

Bianca's bright smile twitched and she stared at me with curiosity gleaming in her eyes.

“You look familiar? Do I know you from somewhere?” She mused, furrowing her brows.

My breath hitched and my stomach clenched. She had to be making a mistake; she couldn’t recognise me. It would mean she had either met my ex-husband or someone in my ex-family, and those were the last set of people I wanted to be associated with.

“No. I’m sure we haven’t.” I quickly said and forced a pleasant smile. “I just have one of those familiar faces.”

“I swear I’ve seen you somewhere, but I can’t quite place it. Oh well, can I offer you anything? Tea, juice, wine, champagne, water?” She shrugged, crossing her legs.

“No, I’m fine, thank you.” I refused, shaking my head. At least she had dropped the topic. I didn’t know what she was going to do if she somehow connected the dots.

Even if I wanted anything, I doubt I could stomach it. All my body wanted was to know why she wanted to see me.

“Ok, so I saw your designs on in.s.t.agram and wow, I loved them. They were so fairytale-ly and princess-y and they gave me this ethereal fantasy vibe that, ugh, just hit the spot. I swear I don’t fall in love at first sight, but when I saw yours, I fell madly in love. Like, oooh, that’s so cute.” She gushed, fanning herself with her hand.

“Thank you. I’m glad you like them.” I grinned, pushing my hair over my ear.

The Bianca Warner liked, no loved my clothes! My clothes! I wanted to squeal and kick my legs in the air while giggling like a maniac. She loved my designs. Designs that I sometimes thought were too childish because they were inspired by princesses, fairytales, and magic, but a girl boss like her loved them. It was crazy.

“Like them? I’m obsessed. I know people wouldn’t normally associate me with them because I’m more of a bold, badass kind of vibe, but I’ve always loved princesses and magic since I was a little girl. That’s why I want to do something a little bit outside my norm.” She bubbled and I nodded, waiting for further explanation.

‘Does she want to expand her image from just the badass independent woman to something princessy?’

“My wedding is in a few months, and I want it to be the wedding of the year. I want to make a statement, do something that people don’t know me by so my fiancée and I decided the entire wedding will be fantasy and magic themed. We really want to go for the ethereal, fairytale vibe, and when I saw your page, I was like, yes, I love this. I want this person to create my wedding dress.”

“You want me to do your wedding dress?!” I gasped, pressing my hand to my lips. There was no way, no way that she wanted me to design her wedding dress. I was dreaming a very good and wonderful dream.

“Yes, your designs are literally made for the vision of my wedding I have in mind.” Bianca grinned like a child. “Do you think you can handle it?”

“Yes! Of course!” I tried not to squeal and sound too excited.

I was going to design a wedding dress for the one and only Bianca Warner. Of course I could handle it. I was going to pour my entire life into that one dress. It could either make or break my career, and I was going to make sure the former happened.

“Perfect!” She beamed, brushing her hair over her shoulder as she stood up. “I would have loved us to discuss the design and price today, but I have an impromptu event to attend. I would love for us to meet on Sunday evening if that’s okay with you. You can show me the designs you have in mind then.”

“Yes, it’s fine.” I nodded as I stood up, and she stretched out her hand.

“Looking forward to doing business with you.”

“Me too.” I smiled, shaking her hand.

I probably was looking forward to it way more than her. She had given me the opportunity of a lifetime, and I wasn’t going to waste it for anything.

“Kelvin, please escort Miss Nigel to the front door,” Bianca said, and the man standing at the corner walked to the door and opened it.

“Four pm on Sunday, Miss Nigel; please don’t be late.”

Me? Late? Never!

“I won’t.” I nodded as I walked to the door, muttering a small thank you. He stepped out after I did, closing it, and my lips curled into the silly grin I had been stifling.

‘I, Aurora Nigel, a noob designer, am going to design Bianca Warner’s wedding dressing. Ahhh! I just want to scream and roll on the ground.’ I thought as I walked behind Kelvin.

‘I can’t believe the big break I’ve been hoping for is finally here! If Bianca’s wedding blows up as she imagines, then my design will get so much notice. It will bring my work into the limelight. I can’t wait to share the news with Dorothy. I need to tell her now.’

I dug my hand into my bag, searching for my phone. If I waited till I got home to tell her I was going to explode.

‘Where is it?’ I scrunched my face and turned my attention away from who I was following to my bag. My fingers brushed against the device, and I pulled it out. ‘Finally, I— Ouff!’

Crashing into something broad and hard, I stumbled back, almost losing my balance. An arm wrapped around my waist, stopping me from falling to the ground. The pale blue eyes of a man stared into mine and widened as they flitted across my face.

“I’m sorr—”

“It’s you!”

'It's who? Me?' I blinked as the man stared at me, and a bright smile crossed his face. I swear I was almost blinded it. Did he seriously have to smile? He was already handsome—fatally handsome. He already had the face that charmed women without him even trying, and with a body like his, he had them chasing after him hard."I can't believe I've found you." He grinned, pulling me closer to him, and I stiffened. "Sorry. But I think you got the wrong person." I cringed, pressing my hand to his shoulder and trying to shove him off. Too close. He was holding me way too close. He was huge. His body engulfed me, and for the briefest moment I thought, it was like how bodies matched like puzzle pieces. Silly thoughts. Why was everyone thinking they knew me? First Bianca and then this man. It was worrying. What if one of them actually did? It was obvious he was part of the elite of society. His suit was made with quality material, and he was also in Bianca's house; I doubted she would let jus

“No, Tiffany is fine. She just had a minor relapse. Has she been spending a lot of energy?” Doctor Harper asked as she touched Tiffany’s forehead with the back of her hand. “Yes, she has. She has been getting a little bit more active lately, and though I curbed it a bit, I also didn’t want to make her keep sitting or lying in one place. I thought a little exercise would be good for her, but it seems I was wrong. I hope my carelessness hasn’t caused more damage.” I confessed as guilt gnawed at me. ‘Maybe I should have forced her to stay in bed all day until she fully recovered. Her health is really delicate, but still, I took it too lightly.’ I blamed myself. ‘If something bad happens to her, it would be all my fault because I was irresponsible and careless.’ “It’s not your fault.” She assured me, and her smile grew softer. “You did the right thing by encouraging her to play more, which is needed for her recovery, but it seems we overestimated how fast the recovery would be. She’s

“Yes, it was Sebastian. He just wanted to ask how Tiffany was.” I hummed as I just stared at the phone in my hand. It was like the last few minutes were unreal.“Are you going to tell me how you met Sebastian Warners, or do you want me to beg?” Dorothy joked, forming a serious expression and crossing her arms over her chest.“Um, I don’t know. Maybe I want you to beg.” I smirked, checking my nails, and she rolled her eyes.“You wish,” she scoffed, and I giggled. “Do you seriously not know who he is?”“Not really; maybe I’ve heard of him before, but I don’t think so. It’s not like he’s important.” I shrugged, and she facepalmed.“Sometimes I swear you’re living at the bottom of the ocean. How can you not know Sebastian Warners?” She scolded me, shaking her head like a disappointed mother.“You know I can’t keep up with all these kinds of stuff. It’s too confusing. I only follow those that concern me.” I lied, wearing an innocent smile. It wasn’t too confusing. I just didn’t follow the

”Hello, it’s so good to see you, Aurora.” Bianca said as she strutted into the living room. “Can I call you Aurora? You can call me Bianca.” “Of course you can. It’s good to see you too,” I smiled, standing on my feet. ‘He’s here? Why is he here?’ My lips twitched as Sebastian came in behind her. ‘What am I saying? Why won’t he be? He’s her brother. But why is he here? Doesn’t he have work or something? Did they discuss me? Both of them did think they recognised me. Have they figured it out? Is that why he’s here? Do they want to talk to me about—’ “Good evening, Aurora. How are you and your daughter now?” He asked as Bianca sat down on the couch opposite the one that I sat on. “We’re good. Thanks for your help that day, Mr. Warner.” I said, as I tried to keep my nerves in check. “Please call me Sebastian, and you’re welcome. If you need any help, you know you can always call me.” He beamed, giving me a dashing smile, revealing a set of dimples, and my stomach fluttered. Aw

”What?!” I gawked at her. “You have to be kidding. Please, Dorothy, just tell me that that was a joke.” “Here.” Dorothy whispered, dropping the paper on my hand. I held my breath as I unfolded it. My gaze soaked in the printed words, and my stomach tightened. Was this some kind of prank? April fools when it wasn’t April? Why was I seeing words that weren’t making logical sense?“This is impossible. No, it can’t be.” I threw the paper to the ground. “How can he increase the rent by fifty percent?! Fifty percent! Who increases rent by fifty percent?! We can’t pay that!”It was exorbitant. Who just woke up one morning and increased rent by a whole fifty percent?! Our landlord, Charlie, already knew it was always hard for us to pay the old rent. Our rent had expired, and we had begged him to give us a month to renew. How could he have said yes and yet pulled this stunt?“He knows that’s why he’s evicting us. We have just two weeks to leave, or he would kick us out.” She scowled as she p

“Well… I currently have a problem with my accommodation.” I started as I stood up from my bed and walked to the kitchen. “I just suddenly got evicted, so I’m currently looking for a new place to stay. It might take some time for me to settle down, like one to two weeks, so I just wanted to inform you that I won’t be starting your dress immediately. I hope you’re fine with that.” ‘Please let her be chill about it. Please, please, please.’ I begged, crossing my fingers as I stepped into the kitchen. “That’s messed up. Does your landlord have the right to kick you out like that? You should get a lawyer.” Bianca scowled, and my lips tipped to a strained smile. A lawyer? With what money? How could I afford a lawyer if I barely had money to feed? “It’s a really long story, and my friend and I have always wanted to move but never did. This was like the push we needed.” I lied as I pulled out a cup from the cupboard. We, no, I, never planned on moving until I had enough money to rent a b

‘The restaurant was just as I had seen on the internet. Thank heavens I dressed well.’ I thought, smoothing the nonexistent crease in my dress as the waiter led me to a reserved table. The place is not too fancy, and my simple, semiformal dress made me blend in.‘I don’t get it. Why does Sebastian Warner want to see? Is it about his sister’s wedding?’That question had run through my mind probably a million times since he called me the previous morning, but I still hadn’t gotten the answer. He hadn’t mentioned why and only asked we met at a restaurant, leaving me guessing. He had absolutely no business with me.The only reasonable conclusion I could come up with was he wanted to talk about Bianca’s wedding, but that didn’t just feel right.“Hello, Aurora.” Sebastian said as I approached his table, standing on to his feet and giving me one of his blindingly handsome smiles. ‘Gosh, why did my name sound so smooth on his lips? Like velvet. Ugh, don’t think weird things.’ I scolded mysel

“Wait! Did I say anything to make you mad?” Sebastian asked, grabbing my hand as I tried to leave.“Did you seriously think I wouldn’t get what you meant, or did you think I would be so low as to be interested?” I turned back to him, wearing a nasty scowl.I knew it; I knew there was a catch somewhere, and he just threw it at me.“What I meant? What are you talking about? He gawked at me, staring at me with wide eyes, and his scowl deepened. How dare he try to play innocent after he said that? Did he think I wouldn’t get the innuendo?“Really? You’re acting like you don’t know?” I glowered, yanking my hand away. “You’re lonely, and you want me to keep you company to spice your apartment up? Do you think I’m dumb that I don’t know that involves your bed?”“What!” He gasped as he stood to his feet and gaped at me like I had gone crazy. “That isn’t what I mean! It seems you misunderstood everything. You’re beautiful but that doesn’t mean I want to take advantage of you. I’m not low.”“Yo

"What! No!" I blurted out a little too quickly than I should have. "Oh... then what new dress are you talking about?" Sebastian said, his smirk growing wider. "So you think I can't just suddenly decide to make a dress for myself? I'm a fashion designer. I can wake up one morning and say, hey, why don't I make a cute dress for myself? I can because I can." I sassed as I stomped out of the kitchen. "But we both know you won't. You aren't one to suddenly decide to do something without any reason." He trailed behind me like a fly following a carcass. "You're not that spontaneous, and I know you won't spend your money like that." "Who said I won't?" I huffed, spinning on my heels, and my hair almost slapped his face. "For your information, I'm no longer broke as I was before I moved here. Bianca paid me for the engagement dress so I can decide to treat myself to a new dress." "Liar!" He snorted. "I'm not saying you're broke. I'm saying you're too responsible. You have your debts

"You're right, Sebastian. I love it so much, but I can't take it because you've done too much for me." I confessed, leaning against the kitchen island; my eyes decided the floor was pretty interesting. "You let me and my daughter stay with you for almost nothing, which I'm completely grateful and thankful for, but it still makes me feel uncomfortable. What I paid for rent can't even cover the electric we use, and I don't even want to talk about the groceries and water too. You're literally gaining nothing, and it makes me feel bad. Like I'm some sort of parasite, leeching off you." "You are not a parasite, Aurora. Not you, not Tiffany. Don't you ever feel that way?" Sebastian scolded and stepped closer to me. "I set the rent, knowing that it would cost me, so it isn't your fault. I want it that way, and I'm happy to cover all the expenses. I can refund the rent you paid right here and now if you let me." "No!" I gasped, snapping my gaze to his face and furrowing my brows. "Don't

*Knock knock* A soft knock echoed through my studio, and I looked up from sewing. "Come in." I said, grabbing my phone and checking the time. A quarter past midnight, I still had like an hour to work. "I hope I'm not disturbing you?" Sebastian asked, walking into the room and holding up a glass cup filled with light yellow liquid. "I brought fresh apple juice. I thought you would need a bit of natural sugar to boost your energy." "I didn't know we had fresh apple juice." I replied as I stood up from my chair and stretched my body. My bones gave a small pop, and I sighed. "We don't, but I there were some apples, so I made some for you." He replied, handing the cup to me. "You didn't have to. I know you must be tired after your flight. You should be resting." I fretted and touched his cheek. "There are eye bags under your eyes, Sebastian. You should be in bed sleeping." "I know you're hopelessly worried about me but I'm quite stronger than you think." He teased, and I snor

"Then I'm sorry; I won't forgive." Sebastian shrugged, grabbing the castle, and began walking away. "Sebastian! Wait! You can't really mean that!" I yelled, running after him as he went out of the kitchen. "Yes, I can, and I will." He replied. "But it isn't fair. It doesn't make sense. You can't blackmail me; accept a present. I did something wrong; I shouldn't be rewarded." I exclaimed, throwing my hands in the air. Why couldn't he just get that that was odd? "And you can't force me to forgive you based on your terms. I was the one hurt, remember?" He argued, walking into the living room, and I stopped at the door. 'Ugh, this is so strange.' I thought and stared at the box in my hand. The jewel glinted in the artificial light, and I stroked the middle gem. 'Gosh, it's so pretty. No, gorgeous. Honestly, gorgeous is the only right word to describe Sinclair designs. And crazy expensive. I wonder how much it is? No, I don't even want to be tempted to check; I don't want to ha

"A princess Lily magical princess power castle." Sebastian replied, a hint of amusement in his voice, and my scowl deepened. "That's not what I meant, and you know it. Why did you buy it?" I asked, keeping my anger at bay. Dorothy told me to know what he was saying or his reason for doing something before jumping to conclusions, and I was trying my best to do just that, but that was hard. Especially when his reason was already as plain as day. "Because every princess needs her castle." He shrugged, and the sides of his lips curved to a smile. "And you heard what Tiffany said, Princess Lily needs her princess power castle or she'll be weak and King Bearyon would take over the world." "Are you trying to spite me?" I snapped, and his eyes widened, every trace of amusement dropping off. "What? No!" He exclaimed, reducing the gap between us until I was barely a hair’s breadth away from him. His cologne swept through my nose, and his powerful presence lit small flames in my vein

"Mr. Moviestar!" Tiffany let out a deafening squeal as Sebastian stepped into the living room. She dropped her crayons and paper and ran to him, giving him a big hug. "You're back! You're back! You're back!" She giggled as he carried her in his arms. "You should have at least allowed him to get into the house." I scolded her, shaking my head as I stood up. A man—his driver, Mr. Philip—walked in, pulling two large suitcases, giving me a curt nod as he went to Sebastian's room. He was so quiet, almost like a ghost, breezing in and not disrupting what was going on. I wouldn't have noticed him if he weren't a stranger. Ninja skills much, or just the life of a staff of a billionaire? Not seen, not heard. "It's fine. It just shows she missed me just as much as I missed her." Sebastian grinned, throwing her into the air, and fits of giggles burst out of her lips. "Careful." I winced, my hand instinctively reaching out as if they would cover the distance between us if somehow he mis

"What!" I gasped as my eyes flung open, and I sat up straight. My phone fell from my face just as fast as I moved, landing on my lap and then bouncing to the ground. "No, no, no." I winced, picking it up and scrutinising every inch of it. "Is anything wrong? Are you hurt?" Sebastian asked, his voice full of worry. "No, I'm fine. My phone just fell. It's not broken or anything." I assured him as I stood up from the bean bag and began placing up and down the studio. "Could you repeat what you said earlier? I didn't hear it." Oh, I heard it alright. I heard it loud and clear but I wanted to believe that it wasn’t a trick of the mind or my brain wasn't braining. He didn't ask what I think I heard, did he? "Oh, I offered to be your date to Bianca's engagement party. Are you interested?" He asked, and I stopped dead in my tracks. 'Oh... Oh! Oh! Oh! He had really asked that! He's really asking me to be his date!' I squealed, pressing my hand to my face. 'Calm down. Calm down. Why am

"What do you mean?" I asked and downed what was left of my can of soda. "My food is here." Sebastian announced, and I smiled. "Finally. I was beginning to think you lied to me. He laughed, and small hushed talking sounded in the background. "That sounds yummy. Make sure you eat enough; you need the strength." I advised as I picked up my phone, putting it in my pocket, and I picked up my used dish. "If it makes you happy." He teased, and I rolled my eyes. "Whatever. Should I end the call and allow you to eat?" I asked as I washed the plate. "Of course not. If you do, I'm not going to eat any more." "Why? Won't it be more convenient for you to eat without distraction?" I frowned as I wiped the clean dish and placed it with the others in the cupboard.
