Carson continued to stare at Lydia in awe. He had been scared that he'll have to do with what she can give. He never expected that she'll give this much. She was taking the lead more than he ever expected her to. She kept surprising him, filling him with wonder.

Firstly was how she had dressed up so fine and smart, no one will even suspect that she was once beaten into a lump a few days ago. Next, she had held on and waited for him to come before she stepped into the house, even when her daughter was screaming in pain.

Another was how she didn't rush to her daughter even when she found her on her knees receiving strokes from her worse enemy. And now she was even speaking so boldly that he wondered if there was any other woman that can beat Lydia when it comes to being courageous.

“I ask again, where is George?” Her voice this time held a chill that caused Alma to shiver.

“Oh hello, my beautiful wife” George answered from up the stairs as he walked down gently holding Lydia's gaze.

“Baby, are you okay? Did they hurt you too much?” Lydia asked as she pulled Khloé into her lap. Khloé only rested her head on Lydia's breast and held her tightly as she hiccuped while Carson quietly drove back home. When they got back home, Carson let them go in and asked Anny to take care of them before leaving the house. He still needed to go to work. “How was it?” Anny asked Lydia, who was staring into space after putting Khloé to sleep. Lydia shook her head as she took the glass of cold water from Anny. “He refused to sign the divorce papers” Her voice broke, and she immediately burst into tears. Anny pulled her into her embrace and she caressed her back. “I… I… I just don't want Mr. Carson to get stressed because of me. I don't even have the money to pay” “It's okay. Carson knew something like this would happen. He knew what was coming and trust me, he is more prepared than you think” Anny tried to comfort her. Lydia could only cry as she thought of what would happen to t

“This is my daughter, Khloé" Lydia replied as she asked Khloé to come sit next to her, but Khloé kept staring at Gary. She could see that Marian was about to say something stupid and Lydia was left tongue-tied, so she spoke up herself.“Yes, isn't he the most beautiful boy ever? Just like you, my child, you are so beautiful,” Anny smiled and Khloé nodded,“Thank you” She didn't go to sit, instead she walked over to stand in front of Gary before stroking his hair“Hi Gary, I'm your big sister. My name is Khloé" Gary's eyes twinkled, and he immediately let go of Lydia to stare at Khloé. He loved the touch Khloé was giving. He has been feeling the same touch for

It's been half an hour and Anny wasn't done with Carson, so Lydia decided to dish the food by herself. Taking the food to the table, she met Marian with her phone already sitting in the dining. She placed the tray of food on the table before leaving to get Gary and Khloe, then Anny and Carson. When she got to the room where Khloé and Gary were, she saw them watching a cartoon. Carson is only speaking with her” Anny said from behind and Lydia turned to her.“Why are they taking so long? Do you know what they might be talking about?” She asked Anny who was tired of calming the woman. “You know what? It was a cool, autumn evening, Carson and Nick were sitting at the bar, nursing their drinks and chatting. The bar was dimly lit, with a cozy atmosphere. One can't stick to a technique and tactic all the time. Carson returned to his seat and called a prison warder inside to listen to what he had said. George had killed a man, strangled him during the traffic, and taken his cab as a means of transportation. Presently, he walked to Mrs. Isobel's limp body and carried her into the back seat of the cab. He closed the door and entered the front seat. He wasn't ready to drive her anywhere in particular, he would make sure that he was far from a place where the cops could find him. He would question her in the car, but he had to wait till she awakened. He had planned to lie to Alma that he couldn't stand the boredom and had to leave the cabin. Anyway, she believed every lie he spoke.George drove for a long while before parking near a certain roadside, he waited till she awakened, which happened a few minutes after the drive. “Hm,” Mrs. Isobel moaned in pain. She felt a pounding pain in the back of her head, her hand reached for it and there was a little bloodstain. “Oh my God” She cried and slowly sat up, her blurry eyes cleared little by little. “Who are you?” Mrs. Isobel asked i

“Why are you smirking? Do you find the situation amusing or what?” Alma frowned at him. “I'm sorry, but I've thought about my decision, and I'm ready to accept your suggestion for plastic surgery,” George stuttered.Alma screamed excitedly and hugged him tightly.“That's the spirit, I'm so glad that you have thought more carefully about my proposal. I promise you that once you do this surgery and probably practice how to change other things about yourself. Everything would be great” Alma giggled. “The cops would be off your back and the both of us can travel the world after our wedding.” George rolled his eyes but faked a laugh. “I won't do the surgery now, give me some time to have my face then after a few days from now, I can do the surgery” George smiled and pushed her away from him. “I'm so happy” Alma clapped excitedly and tilted her head from side to side like a child. “I'm not too happy about losing my handsome face, but it's worth the change,” George said and acted like

“No, I'm not interested in altering my appearance” George disagreed firmly. “Why? It's a suitable option for you never to be found, why would you lose such a chance, just to stay locked up in this wretched cabin” Alma argued with him. “I'm not interested in continuing the conversation, I won't change my appearance to fort anything in this world. The best thing I love seeing when I look at my reflection in the mirror is my face and nothing more” George said and turned his face away from her. Alma gasped and was offended by his selfishness. “I want you to have a free life, we can fake your death that you were found and killed. It would make a lot of sense when I start dating the new you. Why are you acting so selfishly towards me?” Alma said, her voice cracking at the end of her statement. “I'm not being selfish but standing by my own rules. “What did you just say?” Lydia panicked and sprang up. That news was so unexpected and shocking, she never expected to hear that the man who had ruined her life was out of prison, free to do the unimaginable. “How did he come out of prison? What exactly happened?” Evelyn asked, worried over the safety of Lydia. Carson shook his head. “I still don't know, but I'm going to that fucking prison to find out.” “How can he escape in just a week of being there? Many people have spent a decade trying to escape prison but haven't been able to, how can he make it seem so easy?” Evelyn asked questions that couldn't be answered by any of them. “The kids, we left the kids alone,” Lydia said agitated, and tried running out of the church. Gary and Khloé went to have a sit, seeing that their mother was more serious than ever. “It's not good to prove stubborn towards your parents, it causes sadness. Do you want Mommy to be sad?” Lydia pouted at her lips after speaking. They both shook their heads. “Alright, since you don't want me to be sad, then listen,” Lydia said. “It's truly depressing when I keep talking and you both keep disrespecting me by not listening!” “What are you supposed to do?” Lydia asked, looking angry, though she wasn't so angry.
