Chapter 3: Alpha Asher

Evelyn's POV

My child... only six-month-old…

THEY KILLED HIM!!

All because Leah wanted me to raise Roman!!!

I screamed and struggled desperately. The agony almost tore my soul apart.

“No…NO!!” I cried, tears and dirt mixing into mud on my face. “My child…my baby!!!”

Yet Leah laughed even harder.

“You will have your karma!” I choked out through my sobs. “You have no idea how to run a pack. When you mess up everything, the furious members will tear you apart!”

Leah giggled, “With my help, Blazewood Pack will only thrive! You stupid bitch, do you even know who I am? I’m the daughter of the Alpha of Ironclaw Pack!”

My eyes widened in shock.

Ironclaw Pack was a very powerful pack.

It wasn’t like Alpha Asher’s Storm Fang Pack, but it was still formidable enough.

I didn’t know Leah had such a powerful family.

“Compared to me, you are nothing,” Leah giggled.

The cold earth continued to fall on me, gradually covering my head.

Leah’s voice came again, sounding a bit muffled:

“…Tristan and I will complete the Carnival City project. Our son Roman will be the next Alpha. And you… will rot away in this cold earth. Soon, everyone will forget you ever existed.”

The last shovelful of dirt fell, completely blocking out the night sky.

My mouth and nose filled with dirt.

I heard Leah giggled in joy. She tossed the shovel aside. Her footsteps disappeared into the distance.

I struggled under the earth as the air getting thinner. A while later, I suddenly felt a sharp pain coursing through my body. My matebond with Tristan quivered with the pain.

Tristan was fucking Leah.

The pain was caused by the betrayal of our matebond.

My husband was fucking another woman as I died here.

I let out a muffled cry, my body and soul getting torn apart by the pain.

‘Hang in there!’ My wolf Elin screamed in my head. ‘Don’t let them win!!!’

Her voice gave me some willpower. I started struggling again, fighting with the wolfsbane. Elin worked with me, gathering power to break free from the layers of heavy dirt.

And that’s when it started to rain.

Small rain gradually developed into a powering shower, which ravaged the forest, destroying everything in its path.

The pit that had been my grave was washed away.

Hours later, I tumbled down the mountainside with the pouring sand and rocks.

Knelt in the mud, I greedily inhaled the fresh air, tears streaming down my face with rain.

The Moon Goddess saved me.

This is her giving me a second chance.

I am going back to the packhouse now and expose Leah’s crime!

And I’ll ask Tristan about our unborn child. I don’t believe that he’s capable of killing his own baby!

***

By the time I made my way down the hill, dawn had broken. The pouring rain finally began to ease.

There was a lot of people on the street, heading downtown. They were going there to welcome CEO Jason.

I blended into the crowd and went with the flow of people.

At the front of the packhouse, Tristan, Leah and Roman stood by the fountain, surrounded by reporters and the public, posing happily for the cameras.

“We are all excited about CEO Jason’s arrival, and about the Carnival City! This is an important moment for the entire Blazewood Pack!” Tristan said with a charming smile.

“But where is Luna Evelyn? Isn’t she the person in charge of this project?” a reporter asked.

Tristan pulled Leah closer to him and said, “Evelyn and I are getting a divorce. Leah will be the new Luna.”

“But Luna Evelyn has managed Blazewood Pack well for the past 4 years…”

“She hit me!” Roman suddenly shouted sharply. “She always whips me, burns me with candles, and threatened to drown me in the toilet!”

He yanked up his sleeve, showing several bruises on his arm.

The crowd erupted in shock.

I covered my mouth in disbelief—I never laid a finger on Roman. Those injuries are forged!

It must be Leah. She taught the child to lie.

Leah leaned weakly on Tristan’s shoulder, wiping tears, “I really didn’t want to be the other woman in Tristan’s marriage… but I have to stand by my child. I can’t let Evelyn abuse him…This is such a hard decision for me…”

Tristan gripped her hand tightly, “Don’t be sorry. I was trapped in this hopeless marriage. If anything, you saved me and Roman.”

A reporter then asked, “But Luna Evelyn is the only one familiar with the Carnival City project. Who will lead the project now?”

Leah wiped her tears and smiled confidently, “I will. I’m the daughter of the Alpha of Ironclaw Pack. I had a degree in business. I can do better than Evelyn.”

I bit my lips in anger.

So now Leah will not only take away my husband and child, but also my career? How dare she!

Just then, a honk came from the near distance.

A line of cars appeared at the end of the road, speeding toward us.

The crowd stirred. Tristan announced loudly, “Looks like CEO Jason is here. Let’s all go welcome him!”

A black Maybach pulled up in front of the crowd.

The car door opened up. Jason got off from the front seat.

Tristan rushed forward and stretched out his hand to welcome the mighty CEO.

But Jason ignored that hand. Instead, he hurriedly walked to the backseat and the back door in a humble manner.

Another man got off from the car.

He stood tall, around 6'3", with a broad, athletic build that screamed strength and control. His chiseled jawline, sharp cheekbones, and strong chin all gave him a commanding presence.

And those piercing green eyes were intense, with a sharp, almost predatory gaze.

A deathly silence fell.

Everyone in the crowd froze in shock, including me.

“Asher Hawthorne.”

The handsome man offered his hand to the dumb-founded Tristan, saying in a deep, sexy voice.

“Nice to meet you.”
