Scarlett’s POV

I clung to Lucian as he carried me up to their apartment, his arms warm and protective around me. He laid me gently on his bed, and as he let go, I already missed the security of his embrace.

Clay came in, already changed into a pair of loose shorts, his face a mix of worry and anger. Lucian walked over to his dresser, pulling out a pair of shorts for himself. The simple, domestic movements felt oddly comforting amidst the chaos I’d just experienced, but the weight of everything finally hit me.

The adrenaline that had kept me steady began to fade, and I felt a sharp, lingering pain in my back where Marvin’s belt had struck.

I tried to sit up, but my whole body ached, and I couldn’t hold back the tears any longer. The fear, the betrayal, the helplessness—it all came crashing down at once. Sobs tore through me, and Clay didn’t hesitate. He came to me, wrapping his strong arms around me, holding me tightly.

“It’s okay, Scarlett,” he murmured softly, his voice soothing. “Yo

I needed something more, something deeper, to calm the storm inside me.Slowly, I brought his face closer, uncertain but hopeful, searching his eyes for any sign of hesitation. He understood me, his gaze softening with a quiet understanding before he leaned in, pressing his lips to mine. The kiss began gentle and soothing, but soon, a spark ignited between us, fierce and consuming, a fire that burned away my lingering fear. His lips left mine and traveled along my neck, leaving a trail of warmth that spread through me. I gasped, overcome by sensation, and he paused, his eyes meeting mine with a gentle intensity.“Do you mind if I touch you?” he asked, his voice low and full of care. I shook my head, my heart pounding as I silently welcomed him closer, wanting to lose myself in the safety of his touch.“I want to claim you, Scarlett,” he murmured, his fin

Scarlett’s POVMy mates had been gently urging me to move into their apartment, a plea that carried both their concern and desire for me to stay close. But as much as I wanted to be near them, I wasn’t quite ready to take that step. I knew that moving in would bring us to a place where we’d share everything, and I wasn’t prepared yet.The thought of it was thrilling, something I looked forward to with all my heart, but a part of me knew I needed just a bit more time. Lucian looked especially crestfallen when I refused, his expression pulling at my heart, and I felt a pang of guilt as I watched his face fall. Still, he offered to walk me back to my room, and I gratefully accepted.I thought Clay and Maxwell might follow us, but they stayed behind, respecting the space I needed. When I opened the door to my room, I noticed immediately that the lock hadn’t been fixed, the handle still broken from the attack. Lucian sighed, looking slightly frustrated.“I’ll get someone to repair it as so

Scarlett’s POVThe peace we had now was fragile, held together by unspoken words and careful steps. I didn’t want to risk breaking it by defending a man most others saw as a threat. I would keep my thoughts to myself, no matter how they stirred within me. My father was gone, and without a wolf of my own, the South was better off in their hands.“It’s okay, Lucian,” I said, hoping my smile would reassure him. “I didn’t take offense.”His eyes met mine, softening even more, his gaze full of a tender concern that left me feeling exposed, vulnerable.“I’m sorry,” he murmured, a look of regret shadowing his face. “I’m sorry for how I treated you when you first arrived. I know I’ve said it before, but I truly am. Please know that we really want you to feel at home, to come back to our apartment. But we won’t rush you.” His voice was gentle, a promise wrapped in kindness.I looked down, feeling the weight of my own emotions.“I know, Lucian,” I replied quietly. “I know you’re not pushing me.

Scarlett’s POVThe sensation was electric. His mouth on me was like fire, each touch, each kiss sending waves of pleasure through me. I felt myself grow bolder, the pleasure making me fearless. I sat up just enough to watch him, and the sight of him there, devouring me with a hunger that mirrored my own, sent me over the edge. My body trembled as I moaned his name, my fingers gripping the sheets.“Lucian,” I gasped, my voice barely more than a whisper, and he responded by sucking on my most sensitive spot, his tongue flicking and teasing until I felt a rush build, wave after wave of pleasure washing through me. It filled me, leaving me breathless, shaking as the sensation tore through my body.I barely had time to recover when I felt him again, relentless, as he continued, drawing me into another intense release. This time, the pleasure was so overwhelming I had to beg him to stop, my voice hoarse, pleading. Finally, he looked up, his gaze heavy-lidded, his lips glistening with my rel

Lucian’s POVLeaving Scarlett behind weighed heavily on my heart. It hurt, really hurt, but we didn’t see the need to bring her along to see Elsa, our seer. As we journeyed to Leafwall, the settlement where Elsa lived, my mind was filled with thoughts of Scarlett. Every step we took, every breath, seemed to remind me of her—the warmth we shared, the unspoken promises between us. Even though we hadn’t taken things all the way, what we’d shared felt complete, fulfilling in ways I hadn’t expected. The pleasure had been raw, different, something that lingered in my veins, and I questioned why I’d ever denied myself that happiness before. For so long, I’d held onto grudges, nursing old wounds as if they were my only companions. But they felt distant now, forgotten fragments of another time. There was no reason to keep them alive any longer. All that mattered was that Scarlett was ours, and I was ready to embrace her with everything I had. The past, with all its bitterness and pain, was fad

Lucian’s POV“So, how may I help you?” Elsa asked, her eyes warm but shadowed with curiosity and concern. Her smile was gentle, but the air around us felt thick, as though the unlit fireplace had brought more than just a chill to the room.I took a steadying breath. “There have been three recent attacks,” I began, feeling the weight of each word. “We don’t know who’s behind them or why. Should we be worried, or will this trouble pass?”Elsa’s smile faded as she sighed, her gaze dropping to the bowl on the table. “I can’t promise the spirits will reveal everything, but let’s ask them,” she said softly. “Please, wash your hands in the bowl, one at a time, so I can seek answers.”One by one, we each placed our hands in the cool water of the bowl, feeling a strange prickling sensation as we did so. When we’d finished, Elsa leaned over the bowl, her gaze sharpening, and I felt a shiver as a cold breeze drifted through the room. The bowl began to glow faintly, as if it held a hidden fire, a

Lucian’s POVElsa’s eyes met mine, contemplative, as though she was sifting through memories or secrets only she could understand. “What is her name?” she asked finally.“Scarlett Vladislav,” Clay responded, his voice steady but tense. Elsa looked at us, a flicker of something unreadable in her gaze.“Have you mated with her?” she asked, her tone as direct as ever. We each shook our heads, feeling the weight of the question settle uncomfortably around us.“Any form of intimacy that would bind you to her, something that could tighten a connection?” she continued, her eyes sharp. I felt the silent admission pass between us, each of us aware of the unspoken truth.Maxwell was the first. He’d kissed her that night at dinner, unable to resist the pull between them. Clay, too, had felt compelled to comfort her after the attack, and as for me… I’d touched her last, a touch that had sent a thrill and longing through me I’d barely understood.Elsa nodded, understanding in her eyes. “I need you

Scarlett’s POVThe day had been long and filled with responsibilities, most of which were still unfamiliar to me. Lucian had insisted that I learn how the pack house was run since, as Luna, I’d be expected to take charge one day.At first, I’d felt unsure, even a bit out of place, as though this role was a cloak too big for my shoulders. But as the day wore on, my doubts slowly began to melt away. I found myself fitting into the rhythm, feeling a strange comfort in the structure of it all. I held onto the hope that, in time, we would grow close, that love would eventually follow.Still, I couldn’t ignore the nagging worry about my wolf. I was running out of time—if I turned nineteen and she still hadn’t appeared, the reality of being wolfless would be unavoidable. A wolfless Luna, a Vladislav without a wolf; I could already imagine the murmurs, the doubts, the questioning stares. I tried to keep faith in whatever the goddess had planned for me, praying there was some hidden purpose to

Lucian’s POVElsa was hiding something from us. I could tell. She thought it would be better for us not to know, like she was shielding us from some truth that could break us. I prayed, deeply, that whatever she was holding back wasn’t something too awful, something that would shatter what little we had left.“I just need the spirit to give us a sign,” Maxwell murmured, his voice thick with grief as tears rolled down his cheeks. That’s all we really wanted—a sign. A clear path. We needed something solid, something real to grasp onto in this dark, foggy mess.Elsa’s face was calm as she replied, “I’ve already told you—the spirits say to form an alliance with the West. They are pointing west.”But I shook my head, frustration edging my voice. “Not for the war, Elsa. I need a direction to find Scarlett.”She lowered her head, a sad acknowledgment in her expression. “I don’t have magic, Alpha. I only know what the spirits choose to share with me. But I’ll tell you this: bittersweet news i

  • Scarlett (Second Edition)   Chapter 79: Bittersweet 2

Lucian’s POVThe room was filled with a heavy, suffocating silence. I felt my heart sink as I realized what this meant. Scarlett was out there, exposed and vulnerable, in a state that made her a target for any predator, any alpha, and we had no idea where she was or how to find her. And somehow, she was trying to reach us, trying to connect, but something was keeping her from us.The silence after Elsa’s words was suffocating. Her gaze held a sorrowful understanding, as if she saw through all the bitterness and regret we carried, all the wounds we had inflicted on ourselves and on Scarlett. Maxwell, fists clenched, got up and swung his fist hard into the wall, his knuckles splitting against the impact. I could feel the anguish radiating from him, a shared pain we both bore for what we had done to her.“I’m sorry,” Elsa said softly, her eyes flickering with genuine sadness. But her words offered no comfort; they only deepened the ache within me.I took a steadying breath, forcing mysel

Lucian’s POV“I’m sorry, Maxwell,” I murmured, desperation clawing at my voice. “I swear, I’ll do whatever it takes to make things right.”He looked at me, his face streaked with tears, his eyes hollowed by sorrow and anger. “You can’t bring her back, Lucian,” he whispered, his voice shaking. “You can’t… you can’t fix it. Don’t you see that?” He buried his head in his hands, the weight of grief pressing down on him until his shoulders slumped forward, defeated.“We took everything from her,” he continued, his words choked with guilt. “She had nothing, Lucian—no money, no security, no one. We stole it all. Nikolay was right to keep her from us… he saw what we were, what we’d do to her.” His voice cracked, and he wept openly, the kind of raw, unfiltered grief that comes when there’s nothing left to lose.“Please, Maxwell,” I urged, reaching for something—anything—that might bridge this chasm between us. “I know you felt it, too. She’s out there somewhere, and we can find her. I’ve been

  • Scarlett (Second Edition)   Chapter 78: Regret 2

Lucian’s POVThe memories twisted inside me, vivid and merciless. I thought of the day Maxwell and I came home and made her wear those damp, uncomfortable clothes because we refused to let her use our things. The cold-heartedness of it sickened me now, yet she had never complained. She just bore it all, quietly, with a strength we didn’t deserve to witness. And even after everything, she had opened her heart to us. She allowed herself to love us, to see something good in us when we gave her every reason not to.I clenched my fists, feeling the fire of anger and guilt burn within me. How could we have allowed people like Bianca, Stasia, and Gregory to treat her with such contempt? We favored the pack, protected their petty feelings over the well-being of the one who was supposed to be our mate, our equal. And now, we were paying for it. This mess was ours, a twisted reflection of everything we’d allowed and encouraged. The image of Timothy and Tasha flashed in my mind, and I felt a whi

Lucian’s POVLiving without Scarlett felt like drowning in darkness. Every day was an empty, colourless stretch, filled with nothing but sorrow. There was no joy left in my life, no light, no purpose. I spent most nights with a bottle in hand, numbing myself until I felt nothing at all. But even that brought no relief—it only deepened the void she left behind.Clay hadn’t given up, though. He clung to hope like it was the last shred of light in a world swallowed by shadows. He showed her photo to everyone he met, asking, pleading for any sign of her. He offered rewards, desperate promises, anything to find her again. But the days passed, and there was no news. His eyes looked more hollow with each passing day.And Maxwell… he was barely a man anymore. I saw the emptiness in his eyes, a haunting vacancy that mirrored my own. At first, he’d lash out, his anger finding no other place to go. Bianca and her child bore the brunt of his rage, but even he realised that hurting others wouldn’t

Scarlett’s POVThe car came to an abrupt stop, and Keith pulled away, stepping out quickly and rounding the vehicle to open my door. He lifted me out with ease, holding me as if I weighed nothing, his arms steady and unyielding. I clung to him, my body pressed against his as he carried me into the mansion.“All male workers—leave the premises immediately!” he called out, his voice echoing through the grand halls. The urgency in his tone left no room for argument, and as we moved deeper into the house, I felt the space empty around us, leaving only the two of us alone in our need.He laid me gently on the bed, and I couldn’t tear my dress off fast enough, the fabric tearing as I pulled at it, desperate to feel his skin against mine. The ache inside me was unbearable, like a burning hunger that wouldn’t be sated. I barely had time to process what was happening before Keith gently wrapped his arm around me, guiding me back to our table, his touch grounding me.“You can do as you wish with him,” he murmured, his voice low yet reassuring. “He’ll be locked up in the dungeon, waiting for whatever justice you decide. Let’s not let that bastard ruin our night.” I looked up at him, stunned by his loyalty. He was willing to imprison one of his own to honour what I’d been through, to make sure I felt seen and protected. In Redcape, Lucian and the others had always defended their pack above all else, turning a blind eye to crimes if it meant protecting their reputation or keeping the peace. He leaned down, his breath warm against my ear.“What is the matter, darling?” His voice was gentle, filled with concern, and the tenderness of it almost undid me.
