“Ana, can you come here for a minute?” I hear Dominic’s deep voice say before I see him round the corner to the living room with a big smile on his face.
When I see something in his hand, I get excited before standing up and walking over to him. In his closed fist lies a small pastel blue box. From what I see of it, the box has a white silk ribbon wrapped around it expertly. As I meet him in the middle of the room, I notice two things. The first, that he seems very cheerful today, not usual at all for him. The second, there is a spark in his eyes that has never been there before.
Today, is the Full Moon Event of the Spring. Many of our kind come from all around to party till the moon rises and then they take to the night as they mate all night long. Last time I heard it, I was in the middle of the woods, but I still heard it from miles away. Perhaps some of them got closer than my parents would have preferre
After he leaves the room, I hear his deliberate heavy footsteps stomp down the hall. When I realize that he isn’t coming back, I stop holding my breath and glance down at the ring on my finger. It’s amazing that it fits me perfectly. Was it hers? I wonder before taking a closer look at it. If it was hers, she must have been the same size as I am now. Raising my hand up closer to my face, I inspect it closely in the sunshine. I move over to the window so I can get a better look at the ring, and it starts to shimmer and sparkle when the light hits it. Looking even closer, I examine the rubies and diamonds that are carefully placed into the intricate gold ring. When I look up, I see that it is casting a light show on the wall across the room. I smile and admire it for a little while longer before someone knocks on the door. Scanning the room, I finally uncross my legs and stand up. After s
“Boom” Hearing a loud explosion outside, Dominic immediately pushes me away and runs out the door without saying a word before he leaves. I on the other hand, stand there stunned for a moment before I can snap out of it and realize that he has gone out the door. After the magic wears off, I rush to the window and watch as the events unfold before me. Dominic launches himself headfirst into the fight before he ever sees the two rogues hiding in the bushes around the side of the castle. Just as he turns the corner, they attack, and ram him in his side forcefully. The impact slams him onto the ground and I stand there helplessly watching as he gets pummeled before the security team ever arrives on the scene. When they do, they rush over to him, and I watch the two rogues run off to the woods beyond the luscious rose gardens. Too horrified to move at first, I stare out the window at the billowing smoke and the destruction
“Knock” “Knock” I feel the tension in the air when all of us stare at the door. Exchanging glances with me after a few moments, Alpha Erickson turns his attention to the screen that shows the area in front of the door. Seeing Omega Jonathan, and that he is badly wounded, he rushes to the door and punches in the 4-digit number before it opens. As soon as it does, Erickson steps forward and grabs a hold of him before pulling him in. When he pulls him in, and sits him down on the nearest chair, I look him up and down and realize that he is in shock and must have a head wound, because I see only one other injury and that is to his side. A small wound, but if it isn’t cleaned, it will quickly become infected and earn him a one-way trip to the clinic. After all, we heal fast, but not that fast and somethings we don’t come back from. There is one other thing I find odd. When I was watching the cameras, it seemed that
It has been 10 hours since the fighting has stopped, and Alpha Erickson is still sitting there with his head in his hands and murmuring softly to himself things I can’t hear because he is saying them too low to be audible. Sitting next to Dominic, I rest my hand on his chest so that I can be alerted the minute his breathing stops. It had become labored again about an hour ago and then for a split second it stopped and started again. When it did, my heart almost gave out. Matter of fact, in some weird way, I feel like we are connected by more than what I had originally thought. With every beat of his heart, my love deepens for him, and I just wish that there was someway of bringing him out of this unscathed. I can’t help but to wonder, if I have already sold my soul and my first child, what else do I have to give? As I lay my head gently onto his chest and close my eyes, I feel a slight movement. At first, I think it is just h
After watching the screens for what seems like hours with my eyes glued to them, I sit back relaxing and close them for a few minutes. Feeling like this day can’t possibly get any worse, I reopen my eyes to see that Dominic still is nowhere to be found on any of the screens. It’s just amazing that this has all happened. I just don’t understand why this whole thing happened in the first place. We have been at peace for quite some time before this and now a witch or something else is in our mists. Shaking my head, I begin to stare at the screens again in hopes of seeing a glimpse of Dominic. “Are you alright?” Omega Ned stares at me before asking with concern in his voice. Standing up, he walks over to me and then when he gazes down, he says, “Go take a nap. I have this. This is really a one-man job. Don’t worry, if anything shows up, the alarms will sound. I set them up for that.” He smiles at me as h
“Smash” “Bang” I wake up to hear loud noises all around me. Something crashes just within a few inches of my head before I can open my eyes. When I manage to slowly open them, I can barely see anything, and I feel so weak that I can barely lift my arms. Pushing myself up to a sitting position, I do my best to scan the room, but it is so dark that everything just looks like a shadow. With it being so dark, no wonder why I feel like I am in a dream. What had happened to me before I passed out? I no longer can remember, and I guess it is just as well. Hearing Dominic’s voice strained and demanding somewhere in the darkness, I turn my attention to something sitting next to me on the floor. In a heartbeat I realize what it is and for some reason the vampire is staring at me with his lifeless red eyes. He opens his mouth and then lets out a screech that puts me on edge before saying in a slithering voice, “You
“Crunch” Hearing a noise, I hesitate to open my eyes for fear of what I might find right in front of my face. “Crunch” I hear it again and then force myself to deal with the situation by slowly opening my eyes and confronting them. By now the light has all died out from the candles and lanterns, but there is finally moonlight that is cascading in through the window and I watch as the light dances off the ceiling. As my eyes travel down the wall, they focus on something really small scurrying along the floorboards and then I realize that it is just a tiny mouse with a piece of bread in its mouth, hurrying off to its home in the wall. Squinting, I see his little beady black eyes as he chitters at me with excitement before disappearing into the tiny hole by my bed. “Hm. That’s what I heard?” I murmur under my breath as a chill runs down my spine because it is a little cool for a summer night. After he disappears, I g
Returning home, I start to see the morning sunlight peak over the tree line, as I glance over at Dominic who hasn’t said a word to me since the minute we left. Matter of fact, it was so quiet that I could hear myself think clearly for once and that doesn’t usually ever happen. The only thing that was louder was the constant glares and stares from him when I would slow down, and he wanted to run.I can’t believe that he was just about to take me just a few hours earlier, but then the reality of the situation came crashing down and interrupted it all. Not wanting to anger him worse than he already is, I choose to stay silent until we get back. The minute we step in the door however, I feel relieved and let out a loud sigh before he glances over at me and realizes just how much this has taken out of me.Frowning he states, “If you were so tired and couldn’t keep up, why didn’t you just say so? I would
After he brings me to the bedroom, we sit there and talk for a few minutes when we hear a knock on the window from outside. We glance at each other, before he stands up and quickly rushes to the window. Seeing my father outside, he seems confused until I walk over and open it.He climbs in with Alina in his arms and when I see her, she already looks bigger than she did a couple hours before. I cock my head to ask, “Did she get bigger already?” Glancing between my father and Dominic before taking Alina and waiting for an answer. The minute she reaches for me, I feel my heart ache just knowing that I had given her away. I can’t believe that I could think this would be the answer when it was right in front of me the whole time. Surely, she can live off the animals in the woods and the ones we raise. Then after she drains them, we can use the meat for everyone else. A win, win situation.“Yes, s
Warning: Trigger of suicidal thoughts and attempt. If you can’t deal with this, don’t read this chapter’s end.“I heard that you are looking for me Anastasia.” I hear my father’s familiar voice echoing throughout the moonlit room from the shadows.By now the pups are walking because it has been 3 months since they have been born and our kind grow extremely fast, not unlike wolves in the wild. Alina has developed more of a taste for blood than I care to discuss with anyone. When she tried to suckle on my nipple and nearly tore it off, I stopped her just afterwards. That was almost a month ago. Since then, she has taken to draining the life out of various animals around the castle. So, when my father shows up in the middle of the night, I am more than happy to oblige him. “Father, you never told me your name, so it was hard to find you before now. I had to contact mothe
“Knock”“Knock”I open my eyes to see if Dominic ever came back to the room last night. When I realize that he hadn’t, I climb out of bed and throw on my robe. I smell the distinct aroma of bacon from downstairs and the minute I smell it, my stomach starts growling. After I walk to the door, the knocking stops for a second and I grip the handle before opening it. Just as I turn the knob, the knocking starts again, and it makes me jump when I startle. I say with a raised voice, “Hold on, let me open it.”When I pull it towards me, I see Monique standing there with my breakfast. “Here you go, I have brought this up for you. How are you feeling this morning?” She smiles before walking in and placing it on the table in front of me.“Oh, thank you so much. How did you know I was so hungry? The minute I smelled the bacon, my stomach was growl
We walk down to dinner hand in hand after a delightful afternoon of love making and lying in Dominic’s arms. When I sit down with a huge smile on my face, Beta Anne who is sitting next to me, states, “My, my, my. Someone looks happy. If I didn’t know better, I would say that you just spent all afternoon making love.” Turning to her and wondering what she meant by this, I dismiss it quickly because I am in far too good a mood to let anything like this bother me.I feel Dominic’s hand on mine and then I turn my head and smile at him before picking up my glass of wine and sipping it. Having way too much already, I start to laugh a little as I think about what we did all afternoon. Then suddenly, what she said starts to nag at me.What did she mean by that statement? Does she know something I don’t about him? Have they been together before? All this runs through my head an
“Oh, my goodness. Dominic, come here quickly. The pups are already crawling, and Joshua just said his first word. I gesture for Dominic to hurry over so I can show him. Then I start to tickle Joshua while holding him in my arms, before asking him sweetly in my mommy voice, “Joshua, what do we say to daddy?”He giggles and then glances between Dominic and me before stating proudly, “Daddy, daddy.” In the cutest little boy’s voice, I have ever heard in my life.Dominic instantly smiles and grabs him from my hands as he raises him up in the air and pretends that he is an airplane. “Vroom.” He says as he flies him in circles before landing on the ground safely.I smile and then giggle because I can’t help how adorable the whole scene is. Especially when Dominic turns to me now and scoops me up into his arms. He gazes into my eyes and says, “I have arranged for
“What is going on?” I ask Dominic quickly as I hear loud noises in the courtyard over the cries of the pups.He glances out the window and then turns around to answer me with a worried tone to his voice, “There is a fight down below. Watch them, I will be back soon. In the meantime, bolt the door shut. I don’t know if it is the beginning of trouble or just an actual argument. If it is trouble, don’t let a single soul through those doors.”I nod in acknowledgement and then he rushes out the door. As soon as he does, I bolt it shut and won’t let anyone in unless it is him of course. Hearing the roar of someone yelling, I run to the window and see Alpha Charles and Alpha Phillip fighting with their claws out now.The minute I hear Dominic’s voice loudly over the crowd though, I know that he means business, and everyone stops talking. Everything grows quiet as he co
“Here’s mommy.” Dominic says softly in the cutest voice possible when he hands me the first of the five.He smiles so sweetly and then stares at us while I feed him. Looking up into his green eyes, I see the love there, that for so long yearned for. Pointing to him, I say in a whisper to the little one in my arms, “Your daddy loves you so much he gave his own soul to keep you around. Now that is the greatest love one can bestow on anyone.”Gazing down at the sweetest, most handsome little thing ever, I watch as his bluer than blue eyes twinkle in the light and his lips form a smile, where dimples are showing. He wriggles around in my arms and then I could swear that he winked at me. I giggle and then smile again before watching him suckle on me. This little one wastes no time because the minute he was in my arms, he found my nipple and latched onto it.Turning to Dominic, I smile a huge smil
Hearing a roar behind me, I turn around and see Alpha Adolphus rushing at me right before Dominic intercepts him. Screaming, I yell, “Watch out!” When Adolphus turns quickly and almost slashes Dominic’s throat.I can’t believe our day has started this way. It all seemed innocent until Monique ran towards me and warned me of Adolphus’s intentions. That is when I heard him behind me before the two of them started fighting. Now as I stand here watching them fight to the death, I start to cry because suddenly I feel this overpowering urge to run.Run out of the castle, and straight to my parent’s house where I know I will be safe and sound with my babies. Then it happens. At first it is a thin trickle, then a gush of liquid rushes down from between my legs.“Did my water just break? I ask myself quietly under my breath. Not wanting to cause Dominic to lose hi
“If you don’t find that lich before these pups are born, what are we going to do when he comes for the first one?” I ask Dominic with tears in my eyes and so much fear in my heart right now that sometimes I wish I had never gotten pregnant at all.Losing even one might kill me, when the depression hits and I realize that it is all my fault. All because I couldn’t stand to live without him, I could end up losing it all. Because when the lich comes for my baby, Dominic is planning on trying to kill him, in that moment he might lose his own life instead. Then what was the purpose of any of this if he isn’t here to share it all with? This whole time, I have been dreading the babies’ arrival, because I know that the lich will come soon after. Shaking my head, I sit still on the stool while waiting for Dominic’s answer. When he doesn’t answer right away, the tears start to flow steadily down
