Chapter 71.

With speed I never knew I possessed, I grabbed my shorts, slipped them on and ran out of Kane’s study. I could hear his footsteps following after me, but the only thing on my mind was how to get to my room to relieve myself.

Upon entering my room, I rushed into the bathroom, kneeling over the toilet seat as I let out the contents of my stomach. My stomach turned, and I felt as though I would pour out my intestines along with the tuna I had for dinner. Kane came up behind me, a secure hand resting on my back.

“You are sick,” he pointed out, and I shook my head.

“I'm not sick. The tuna tasted funny last night, but I couldn't stop eating it. Marian cooked it well,” Kane raised a brow at me with a silent question: “Do you hear yourself?”

A bile rose in my throat again, and I returned my face to the toilet, but nothing came out. My throat was itchy, and my mouth tasted funny, just like the tuna.
