Where is he?

Bernice twisted her hands together in anxiety as she watched the color drain from Savannah’s face until she was even paler than a sheet of paper. “Are you alright? Are you going to faint? Here, place your head between your thighs.” Her voice was shaky with concern as she wove her fingers into her dark hair, holding her head down so the blood could flow back to her brain.

“Leave,” Savannah drew in a shuddering breath, conscious of the painful thud of the organ in her chest as it jerked erratically against her ribcage. Her head was still spinning as she lifted her eyes to Bernice. The intense shock made her skin feel sticky and strangled her vocal cords so badly that her voice came out as a shaky whisper. “This can’t be.”

A beat passed between them and when Savannah refused to say anything else, Bernice, raised a hand to slightly shake her shoulder but Savannah jerked up, almost falling off her seat in a bid to stop her.

Furrowing her brows, she leaned away. “What is wrong?”
