Noah POV
Marcus Ford barked an awkward laugh.
He coughed self-consciously as if to clear his throat when he realized he was the only one laughing. I refused to join him in his merriment.
Then, he met my unflinching gaze.
“What kind of question is that?”
My eyes narrowed into slits. A sign that I am way past my tolerance level.
“Don’t try to evade answering my question with another question. I am not playing games here.” I warned.
I was at my wit’s end. I was incr
Noah POV“Let’s meet up at Blue Canyon. ” I informed Brent and ended the call.I was walking briskly toward my car when a man intercepted me.He was the head of my security team.“Ed.” I nodded in greeting.“Sir. We are staking the house and your family.” He reported.“Good. Keep me posted and mark my words. If something happens to them, you will all pay up big time.” I warned before getting into my car and driving away. This is the first time I used my name and my wealth to threaten anyone. I was not used to doing that, but the protective instinct in me was the one talking. I do not know what I would have done if something happened to my family, especially as I am not around to protect them. When I got to Blue Canyon, Brent was already waiting for me.
Noah POV“Keep this under wraps. I do not want news of this getting out until we catch all his cohorts. And from now on, tighten the security at Hunter Enterprises. Don’t leave anything to chance. We are at war.” I told them and they nodded.“I will make everyone pay,” I told them, but how can I make everyone pay if I am also an unwitting accomplice to Uncle Matt’s purported crime?
Briana POVA sense of guilt had overtaken me after knowing Noah had not slept a wink and sat outside our house all night.“Go home,” I told him after breakfast without looking at him.My brothers refrained from saying anything. They refrained from showing approval or disapproval in Noah's presence. I was sure it was in deference to the triplets.
Briana POVNot long after I got back from the bathroom, and settled back behind my table, I heard three knocks on the door. I got up from my seat and opened the door to Britney White.I was surprised when I saw her. She looked like she came in for war.She was clad in a red halter top that accentuated the size of her b*east; the smallness of her waist, and the contours of her hips. The hem falls just below her knees. She wore black stilettos. And her fac
Briana POVFury, I had never known emblazoned my being. How could I let myself be fooled once more?Noah will never love me the way he loved Britney. He may love the children, but not me.
Noah PovI took a few hours of sleep. When I woke up, the first thing I did was check my phone and saw several miscalls on my call log.I went to check the numbers and dialed the most recent."Daddy, when awe you coming back?" The mispronounced r was a giveaway.I smiled while stretching on the bed."Hello, Brixx. I'll take a bath before coming over." I told him.
Noah POVThe meeting with Jagger concluded very quickly.“It must be the presence of the children that did that. It was a brilliant thought bringing them here, Mr. Hunter.” Chris praised. His approval blazed in his eyes.“I did not bring the kid to make it appear like I was a doting dad. I brought them here because I did not want to break my promise to my children. I wanted to impress in my children that when I promised to show up, I would show up.” I stressed and glared at Chris for putting motives behind my action
Brie POV“Congratulations, Mrs. Hunter. You are ten weeks pregnant.”I got out of the doctor’s clinic completely in a daze. Her words echoed in my head, making my heart beat fast. In the midst of grief and pain, finally, there’s some good news, I mused to myself. Ecstatic, I could not help the grin that spread across my face, feeling the slight lifting of the weight on my shoulders. With renewed vigor, I quickened my steps. The elevator opened. I walked out, passing the nurse station on my way to the ICU.“Mrs. Hunter.” The nurse greeted me. “Hi. How’s Noah?” I asked the nurse, feeling a little fatigued. “Still the same. Mr. Hunter has not woken up yet.” The statement dampened my enthusiasm. Still, I marched to my husband’s bed, took the chair, and sat down. The nurse left to give us privacy. I looked at the dearly beloved face of the man I loved, and longing pierced my heart. Involuntarily, my hand lifted to touch his face. I let the tip of my finger trace his eyelids bef
