Brie POV

After breastfeeding and burping them, Jenna sat with me for a while. We watched the babies while they were asleep.

“So, have you thought about the names of the triplets?” She asked.

“Yeah. My brothers helped. The five of us agreed on the names.” I informed her.

When the hospital administrator came in later, I told him I would name the children Riley, Mason, and Brix.  They took Ford as their surname after me.  I am now Briana Ford.

Gone was Briana Johnson.  She was a person of the past and someone I would rather forget.

We stayed at the hospital for a few more days before Jenna gave me the clear go.

My brothers were all over the babies.

They took turns caring for them, leaving their three nannies with nothing to do most of the time.

I wanted to call the agency to return the nannies.

Rowan insisted that I keep them.  He argued that when the children get old

Brie POVFury I had never known before engulfed my being and spread through every part of my body. There are so many things Noah Hunter had to answer me for.The lies he concocted were unforgivable. When I had the triplets, love filled my heart, changing my perspective about getting back at Noah. The triplets were all I ever needed.I do not want to muddle our lives by showing up on Noah’s turf. I was so convinced to keep my distance to keep my peace. But after hearing Goldstone, a different level of anger took hold of my being. Knowing that Noah deliberately kept me in the dark about my inheritance, hate-filled me to the core. What he did was more than cruel.“What do I have to do?” I looked at Goldstone squarely, letting my anger talk for me.We stared at each other. I am sure Goldstone was assessing me and my mettle. Then, he smiled. His lips curled, showing off perfectly white teeth.“Work hard and become the best. Beat Noah Hunter in his own game.”I nodded slowly, letting the

Brie POV“Carlo Bianchi Salon?” I was surprised when I set my flats-clad feet outside the two-story building that would serve as the meeting place for the appointment Charles set for me.At first, I thought I got it wrong.I looked at my phone's gallery, where I took an image of a piece of paper Charles handed me last night to see if I got the address correct, thinking there had to be a mix-up.When double-checking proved I had the correct address, a frown formed slowly on my forehead. Why would my brother send me to a salon? Then, when I was about to turn around and ditch the appointment, the glass doors opened to reveal the face of a thirty-ish man with a flawless face and a buzz cut that enhanced his facial hair.“Ms. Ford, I am Carlo Bianchi. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He told me before lifting his hand in my direction. While doing so, I noticed how he ran his eyes over my body as if I was merchandise he was trying to inspect. The perusal was not offending, but it was critic

Hunter POVFour years later.“Why didn’t anyone bother to tell me about the incident?” I hissed at the head of my legal team. With my free hand, I clutched a copy of the morning paper where a news report about a branch of Hunter Hotels was published. It wouldn’t have been crucial if the report was good, but it was the opposite. And it irritated the h*ll out of me.“Sir, we already apologized to the customer. We also upgraded his room and provided freebies. We did not know he would go to the press to make a complaint.”“Have you secured a non-disclosure on this?”There was silence on the other line, telling me he didn’t. “Mr. Langley, you have to understand that we cannot take anyone’s word at face value. We always have to put it in print.”“It was just a mix-up, sir. It happens all the time.”“So, you mean to tell me all these years you did not impose countermeasures to prevent occurrences such as this? Even if it happens every day, we can’t leave anything to chance. We always have

Noah Hunter POV“Noah!” I turned my head around and saw Britney White, my fiancée, waving at me. Two people flanked her. The one on her right is her manager, whom I have known fairly well over the years, and the one on her left is her bodyguard. When our eyes met, she dropped her carryall bag and ran toward me, ignoring the buzz around her. People started smiling at the sight of her weaving her way around the crowd and getting their phones out to catch her on video. As an international model, Britney is quite popular and is considered a celebrity in her own right. When she dashed in my direction, she was shedding all the air of sophistication surrounding her, looking like a girl so much in love. My lips curled reflexively at the corners before I moved my feet toward her. When we met at the center of the large airport, she clung to me, wrapping her arms around my neck to kiss my lips. “I missed you.” She told me, gliding her lips to mine. For a moment, something in my mind flash

Noah POVI slid inside the car to join Britney, and without looking at her, I ordered the driver to pull away, which he did immediately following my orders.I checked my watch and started counting the time. I could not wait to drop Britney off so I could do my thing.I felt Britney shift in her seat while she drew closer. “I am sorry. Are you still upset with me?” She asked.Gone was the flamboyant persona she assumed at the airport, and she was back to the timid Britney I used to know when we were together, one of the things I liked about her.“I am not,” I told her tersely.I was looking forward. My mind is busy conjuring the face of that woman in the airport. Her eyes were the same as Briana's, but the resemblance stopped there. While Briana had pale brown straight hair, the woman at the airport had wavy blonde hair that shone when it caught light. Her body commands attention – from the small of her waist to the gently flaring hips and gorgeous legs. My hands itched to run my

Noah POVWhen the car turned round the block, and we were well out of sight of Britney’s apartment, I did what I had been itching to do earlier. I took my phone out and called Brent, a private investigator, in my employ. He works for me independently but not for the company, and over the years, we developed mutual trust that paved the way to becoming good friends. He was one of my people now, not just an employee. He owns one of the top surveillance and investigative agencies in the country. “Morning, boss. What’s with the early call?” He said flippantly when he picked up.“Stop making me feel like a stuck-up CEO,” I told him succinctly, which earned a low laugh from him.“Okay. Let’s cut to the chase and get it on. What do you want me to do?” He asked, sounding all business-like as usual. His voice lacked the carefree tone from earlier and was now all seriousness.Suddenly, I began to hesitate. I don’t know how to begin.Asking Brent’s help would open up a can of worms I had pai

Noah POVAfter meeting Brent, I went back to the office.“Good morning, Mr. Hunter.” My assistant met me at the door and followed me inside the office. When I sat down behind my desk, he handed me my schedule for the day.I noticed I have a TV guest this afternoon. “Did you check with the studio coordinator who are my co-guests in the interview?” I asked, wanting to plan.As the CEO of one of the oldest chains of hotels in the country, I have often grace shows as part of our PR campaign. Though it was something I did not enjoy doing, I felt the need to engage in activities such as this for exposure. Not only does it help expand our clientele, but provides us an edge over our competitors.“I heard the Fords are coming into Redwood. Their new hotel completed construction last month, and the management is gearing up for a grand launch. Their CEO will be joining you for the television interview this afternoon.” Chris reported. He mentioned another company aspiring to get a chunk of Red

Noah POVHeat spreads quickly to my cheeks at her rudeness. It was not something I could not let slide. No one disrespected me like that.“Noah, thank you for gracing our show. Per usual, you are superb.” Amy Smith snatched my attention away from Briana Ford while she gushed my praises, unaware of the inner turmoil inside my head.“Come again?” I asked when I did not get her words. My brain has malfunctioned and got stuck to one image - the minx of a girl named Briana Ford.Amy leaned close and whispered near my ear, and something inside me recoiled. My displeasure doubled. “Maybe we could extend this meeting to dinner. Alfredo’s mentioned in its recent advertisement this new addition to their menu. One of my co-workers said it was spectacular.” She droned on, but my attention was not on her.“Sorry, Amy, but I have a prior engagement,” I cut her off brusquely.I heard her gasp of surprise at the uncharacteristic show of rudeness. I ignored it while I sprinted after Briana Ford.

Anna/Linda POVWe spent three days secluded in the exclusive villa Flint rented for us. It was nothing short of idyllic. Penelope had a wonderful time. “Dad-dy!” She squealed and jumped on her little feet to evade the coming waves. “Bubbles!” She would cry in gibberish, pointing at the sea foam that crowded her feet and ankles. Then she would run to Flint, and Flint would swoop down to capture her and put her to dry sand. Then, she would stroll toward the waves again, repeating the same actions until Flint rescues her.“You are silent,” Flint said when he deposited Penelope beside me. I was sitting on the sand with my legs stretched out in front of me. He quickly worked on the sand, digging with his hands and throwing them to cover my legs. It attracted Penelope, and she mimicked her father. She took clumps of sand in her hands and threw them to my legs. “You need a spade, my little Queen,” Flint said.He looked around our surroundings before his eyes focused on something no

Flint POVAfter dinner, I was excited to put Penelope to sleep, but to my chagrin, she wouldn’t sleep however hard I coaxed her.She was too busy playing with the rose petals. She kept stepping on them while she walked around our rented villa.“Maybe she loved the downy feel of the rose petals on her soles.” Anna offered a likely explanation for our daughter’s seeming propensity for the flowers. She even pulled her shoes off before she jumped, skipped, and kicked on the petals covering the floor.I dropped my head playfully in response, but inside, I was dying for Penelope to lay her head on the bed so t

Flint POVI saw a myriad of emotions playing on Anna’s face and it made me want to crush her to my chest to offer assurance. I am a Ford.I have everything, but when it comes to Anna, I felt lacking as a man. Of course, it was different with our daughter.Would it be selfish of me if I wanted to be the only man for her, not just the father of her daughter? I wanted to be the best man for them both. “One day, I will make you fall in love with me,” I told her and saw her taken aback. I wanted to add that I will erase every feeling she has for my brother.I will be the only man she would need. The wedding ended. “Congratulations.” The priest held out his hand to send us his best wishes. He even patted Penelope’s head, making her giggle. “You have a lovely daughter.” He told us.Anna and I exchanged a look. She smiled, feeling proud of our daughter. I was, too. We did not linger. Our group left the church and ended up in the parking lot, where we went in separate directions.

Anna/Linda POVIt was not a grand wedding. The only attendees to our wedding were Flint, Penelope, and me.A man I did not know rose from the back pew to approach us."Goldstone!" Flint said in greeting when the man neared us.They shook hands while my eyes surveyed the church.A red carpet was laid in the center aisle decked with flowers. The church was prepped for a simple and solemn wedding."This is Anna, my soon-to-be wife. My Queen, I want you to meet Goldstone, our family's magician. He solv

Anna/Linda POVThe whole ride to Flint’s home, Penelope clung to her father. It was not a problem since Flint did not want to let her go either. He would point out the other cars outside the window, and Penelope would watch them race past us. Sometimes, he would make faces at her, and she would try to mimic them. They also played peek-a-boo. From time to time, Flint would cover his face with his palm, and Penelope would pull up or down the hand that blocked his face from her sight. And when she exposed his face, Flint would cry.“Peek-a-boo!” “Boo!” Penelope would shout before she broke into giggles. From time to time, the father-daughter tandem would include me in their play. When Flint noticed I was looking outside the window, he would pull me close to him and our daughter. One time, he wrapped an arm around my waist while his other hand supported Penelope, who bounced on his lap, enjoying the ride. It was a rare treat for Penelope. What makes this moment even more special

Anna/Linda POVAfter Flint left, I transferred Penelope to our room. Her head turned around as if she was looking for something or someone. She only spent a few hours with her father, but she has adjusted so well. I think Penelope would be a daddy’s girl. I saw their bond earlier and marveled at how easily Flint got my daughter’s heart. He got you that first night, says the little voice in my head, so there’s really no wonder that Penelope would be attached to her father this early. An apple doesn't fall far from the tree. When she got bored with her toys, she started fussing. She was rubbing her eyes, a sign that she was impatient. It did not help that she was calling for her daddy. “Dad-dy! Dad-dy!” Penelope walked toward the door. She struggled when I grabbed her and placed her back on the floor at the foot of the bed. “Dad-dy!”She was openly crying now. I bent to the waist to carry her. “Shhh, baby. Don’t cry. Daddy will be back.” I swayed her from side to side to get h

I won.I was able to convince Anna that marriage is our best bet.But why do I feel like I lost the battle? Why did I feel like I won an empty fight?Maybe it was because of the sorrow that crossed Anna’s eyes briefly. Flint POV“What? Are you out of your mind?”Anna’s loud voice startled Penelope. Our baby jumped in fright, and she started bawling. Penelope's bottom lip protruded cutely, and her eyes smarted with tears. She pointed at her mother before pressing her face to my neck, seeking comfort. “You don’t have to shout. You frightened our daughter.” I pointed out. The anger on Anna’s face has not abated. In fact, it worsened when she eyed the way Penelope clutched at my neck.It was like our daughter had forgotten her.“Because you say the most st*pid things. We can’t marry each other Flint.” It was a blatant rejection; a first in my case. Even when I was a child, I don’t remember a time when a woman denied me. Well, there will always be a first in everything. Still, her rejection rankled. “Why?” My tone became sharp.I mentally knocked my head.I should be coaxing her, not antagonizing her. But the rebuff I got from her did not sit well with me, especially as I suspect she still hold
