Chapter Nine

Nazlynn’s POV

The sounds of birds chirping must have been what woke me up. My eyelids fluttered open and I winced at the bright light my eyes were met with.

My consciousness slowly returned as memories of the previous day's events flooded back. The wedding, the allergic reaction, Luca carrying me...

My hand instinctively reached out to the other side of the bed, expecting to find a warm body. Instead, my fingers met cold, crisp sheets.

A twinge of disappointment settled in her chest and I cursed myself under my breath for thinking that way.

Wait, did I sleep for a whole day?

The thought made me jerk up in a frenzy. A sharp, searing pain shot through my head, eliciting a cry that echoed through the room.

"Signora! Are you alright?" A panicked voice called out. Footsteps hurried across the floor, and a moment later, a familiar woman appeared at my side.
