Violet turned on the phone and dialed the number on the note to find out who bought the phone for her. She connected it on airpond so she and Mabel could listen in. When the phone rang, someone answered from the other end.

Violet's expression turned expectant, her eyes sparkling. Mabel's expression turned curious, her eyebrows raising.

"Hello, Angel, I can see you got my present already," Sly said from the other end of the phone, his voice smooth and charming.

"Sly? Is that you?" she asked, her voice hesitant.

"Yes, it's I. Do you like your new phone?" he asked.

"Um, it's beautiful, but why buy me a phone?" she asked.

"Well, I found out you don't have a phone, so I decided to surprise you with one," he said from the other end of the phone.

She sighed, her eyes avoiding Mabel's gaze. "Thank you, but I can't accept this," she said.

Mabel's expression turned questioning, her eyebrows raising. She leaned in, her eyes fixed on Violet.
