ASHLEY.
I open my eyes up with gratification swirling around me, and my body feeling so relaxed with last night news. After an unwarranted battle, it's ultimately over and now I can be with my man without having to care about how my brother will see about it.
I told Sinclair last night and he was as thrilled as I was to hear the news.
I stare up at the ceiling with a smile on my face and my hands on my belly.
The vibration of my phone distracts me and I grab the mobile, my heart fluttering at the sight of two new text notifications; one from Lucinda, and the other from Sinclair.
Out of habit, I open Sin's message first, and he doesn't fail to stretch a grin on my face.
SINCLAIR: Wakey Wakey, Little Greene. It's time to get out of your fantasy of having me between your thighs. School day, which means I won't be able to see y
ASHLEY."Come on. " Sin tugs me up, pulling me to his chest and I groan in protest, extending my hands as an obstruction between our bodies."I'm dirty. " I warn him, and he chuckles, saying, "I know, Little Greene. And I made you dirty so I don't care about it. I just want to hug you. ""We still have to get out there, Sinclair. The two of us shouldn't reek of sex. " I complain and he pulls back a bit, his hands hanging around my waist, "I don't care if I do. Makes it all better. " He winks and I roll my eyes, but I'm unable to hide the smile on my face."I think you made that clear, but I'm serious, Sinclair. I'm dirty. Move. " I snap and he groans before reluctantly stepping away with a pout on his face."I should clean up. " I tell him, glancing down at my body before spinning to the mirror. His cum is smeared across my face, and there's a trail on my
ASHLEY."Why did you think he would be here?" I sigh as we watch the man walk away from us with a strange look on his face. Heather shakes her head, and says, "I honestly don't know. He told me he comes here once in a while and I just... I don't know. I thought his first escape would be here. "I lean back against the wall as I try my brother's contact again, and just like the last ten times; it says the same thing—unavailable.Where the fuck is he?"Do you think he could have gone to the girl?" I question Heather."No, " she protests. "Vincent isn't that dumb. He wouldn't chase her around. Especially not after the ugly past they had. " An ugly past I do not know. The thought brings me to the actualization that I have little to no knowledge about what goes on with my brother's life. Was I not paying attention adequately, or was he being discreet about it?
ASHLEY. "Are you okay?" Lucinda's voice snaps me out of my thoughts and I smile at her, nodding as I toss my phone to the side. "You sure you're okay? Did something happen with Sinclair again? You kept drifting off. " She points out and I shake my head, saying, "No, nothing happened with him. I just miss him. " I sigh. She lifts her brows, "he isn't around?" I can barely hear her words as she munches on her food and I roll my eyes, impersonating her, "Yes, he isn't around. " Lucy gives me a glare and the middle finger and I chuckle with a shake of my head as I grab my burger. Sinclair meant it when he said he will be busy, and I understand because the man told me beforehand, but I didn't expect him to be this busy. The last text he replied to was this morning and the text sent after that haven't been read. I can't help the small chuckle that fall
ASHLEY.Did he go to his father's place? I didn't think he goes there deeming how their relationship is."You did?" I repeat and he nods, meeting my eyes before pressing a hand against my back—aiding me to bury my face in his neck. Somehow, I know whatever it is he's attempting to tell me is tough to get out from his part, and I appreciate the fact that he's willing to let me in. At least for whatever it is. He's letting me in farther."There's something I have to tell you. " He speaks, his hand fondling my back through the thin fabric of my clothing and I hum, letting my hands fall on his shoulders as I press my lips to his neck.Sinclair shudders at the contact and there's a short silence before he says, "I have a sister. "The words take me by shock and I try drawing back but he keeps his hand clasped against my back and says, "No, stay that way.
ASHLEY. Heather is frightening the hell out of me, but there's one certain thing; the woman is furious. So fucking furious. I don't think I have ever seen her this way since we met and that thought dreads me. She said it's all my fault. Sinclair is in pain all because of me? Why the fuck will he be in because of me? What's going on, even? "Is he in there? Can you let me in, please? Just one minute. I just need one minute to see him, and make sure everything is alright, then I'll leave. " I plead. I don't care how pathetic I sound, or the disgusting look Heather gives me after those words—I just need to see my man. "You shouldn't. Go back home, Ashley. " I shouldn't? So that implies Sinclair is in that house, but she isn't letting me in? "Heather—" I try again, but the woman shakes her head with a stiffened face, saying, "You know Ashley, at first I was
ASHLEY."So you guys resolved things?" Lucinda questions as she walks in and falls on the space beside me. "Judging by that smile on your face, I guess you did. " She mumbles and I give her a playful hit before hurling my phone to the side."We did. " I confirm."And where did he say he was all day?" She lifts her brows and I narrow my eyes, saying, "And why do you need to know that?""Come on! Tell me!" She whines and I laugh before laying on my side so I'm turned to her view. "He was thinking. ""Thinking? Did he spend the whole day thinking and avoiding you? " She queries in an odd tone and I nod."Okay, what was he thinking about?""How am I to know that?" I hiss and she watches me with a bizarre look on her face as she says, "So let me get this straight—Your boyfriend was out of reach the entire day, and
ASHLEY. Lucinda had been right when she mentioned how stupid I could be. When it comes to Sinclair Leovough, my intellectual proficiency is of no use and I turn to the mindless girl around. It's the fact that I see nothing else, but him whenever he is around and I have somehow managed to make it all about him. Yesterday was one of the best— if not the best— moments of my life. Outing in the wild with the man was something I wanted to try again. Something I was looking forward to again. When Sinclair dropped me off last night; the hints were there. The gloom in his eyes, the pronounced pain in his voice, the continual apology despite doing nothing to give one and the reluctance. Everything was laid right before me, and I ignored them all. It's my trust in him. It's the belief I had. I
HEATHER."I feel bad for Ashley. " I tell Vince as I move into his arms and he wraps his hand around my waist, caging me between his body and the counter."She can handle it. " He responds. "I warned her about this. I told her Sinclair will only hurt her, but she wanted me out of her business. She told me she will handle it when that time comes so I expect her to. ""So you're not a tad worried about your sister?" I spin around to meet his gaze, my ass pressed against the counter and he shakes his head; his voice firm as he says, "I'm not. ""Are you sure about that?" I chuckle. "I know how much you care about her, Vincent. It's alright to admit you are furious with what's happened. "He gazes down to meet my eyes and says, "I want to fucking kill him. " And I know he does. The love Vincent has for his sister is immeasurable. You can see it in his eyes, feel it in the
RALPH. "You're here. " I smile, moving from my seat to give Ashley a hug before she slides into the seat across from me, while I settle back on mine. "Hey, Ralph. How are you?" She smiles, removing her glasses and leaning forward. "I haven't heard from you in a while. A surprise you called. " "Yeah. We've all been busy, haven't we?" I say and she nods, keeping that gentle smile on her face. "Do you want to order anything before—" I start and she shakes her head. "No. I'm good. Are you?" "Sure, I am. " I respond and she hums, narrowing her eyes at me when I say no other word. "You wanted to meet?" "Yes. " I nod, linking my fingers and dropping them in front of me. "I want to talk to you about something important, and I don't know if you've heard it from Lucy or—" "What's it?" She asks and I take a breath before I continue, "You know she's pregnant, don't you?" Her eyes widen. "She is?" I push my head back. "You don't? I thought she'd tell you about that. " "No, she didn't.

DAVE. ✓THREE MONTHS AGO. ASHLEY'S WEDDING. ~ "Hey, I thought Ashley said you weren't in town. " I turn to see Lucy approaching me and I smile at her as she stands in front of me. "I wasn't, but I am now. " "Just for the wedding?" She teases and I laugh, "I couldn't afford to miss it now, could I?" "Definitely not. " She agrees and we both laugh before I open my arms and she gives me a tight hug before she pulls away. "It's nice to see you again, Dave. " "You too, Lucinda. You have..." I trail off, my eyes moving down her body before I meet her gaze again. "You're looking more beautiful. " "When have I ever not?" She replies cockily and I shake my head before I turn my head from her, taking a sip of the drink. "I'll talk to you later, yeah? I need to be on my way. " "See you later. " I say with a raise of the glass and she smiles before she starts to walk away. A sigh leaves my lips as I look around the room filled with people who are here to celebrate the big day of Sincl
VINCENT. My chest falls as I stride inside the house, and shut the door behind me. "And why do you have a frown on your face?" I flinch a bit at the sudden sound and relax when I look to my side to see Heather leaning against the wall with her hands crossed to her chest and a tiny smile on her face. Her blonde hair is pulled in a messy bun, and she's in one of those transparent lace with her bra and her lace panties peeking out from beneath. "Hey, angel. " I smile at her, and she strolls to my front, locking her hands around my neck while I use my free hand around her waist. She kisses the side of my face before she pulls back and whispers, "Hey. ""How long have you been waiting there?" I ask her, referring to her little hide and seek, and she says, "Since I heard the sound of your car. What's wrong? Why did you have a frown on?""Just a stressful day at work. Things didn't exactly go as we thought they would. " I tell her and she looks down at her other hand. She grabs my suitcas
ASHLEY. "Are you nervous?" Heather chuckles as she places a hand on my shoulder and I shake my head despite my trembling hands fisted in my gown. "You do look nervous, " she says playfully. "More happy than nervous?"Lillian turns to me this time with her six-year-old daughter placed on her hip. She's dressed in a simple gown that stays fitted to her body and brings out her perfect features. The woman is still looking as beautiful as ever. "I can remember your words from years ago, Ashley. You promised you'll be more happy than nervous when your big day comes. " I did say that. I said that because I wasn't the one dressed in a heavy gown with a groom waiting to finally lay the final claim on his bride. But now that I am, it'll be a lie to say I'm not nervous. I'm fucking nervous, but that also equals happiness. This is really happening: I'm getting married to that man. After years full of ups and downs, fights and amends, learning and understanding each other better – we're gettin
SIX YEARS AND A FEW MONTHS LATER. √WASHINGTON. DC. ASHLEY. "So you're back and the first person you thought to meet is your man?" Lucy's loud whining voice echoes through my ears, and a chuckle leaves my mouth as I move the phone away a bit before glueing it back to my ear. "I remember you doing the same thing months ago, backstabber. " I remind her of her playful betrayal as I walk inside the company. A company that's managed by Vincent, Sinclair along with one other friend of theirs. It's been three years since they graduated college, and decided to pursue the world of business and exchange side by side, and I'm so fucking proud of how far those men have come, and how fast they continue to grow. When Sinclair first told me about the idea, I was shocked because I wasn't expecting him to go along that line. I would have never imagined Sinclair to go with business despi
SINCLAIR. "What are you getting her?" I ask Vincent as he looks through the set of chocolates on the top rows. He looks back at me and furrows his brows, "Isn't that obvious?" "Just chocolates?" I raise my brows and he sighs, dropping the chocolate box with other things he bought before turning back to me. "Okay, what's it? Don't fucking tell me it's nothing because I know it's fucking something. You've been acting this way since we came in. " "I don't know, man, " I tell him and sigh when he narrows his eyes at me. "I just don't know what to get Little Greene. " "I told you not to call her that name around me. " He frowns and I chuckle. "You should have gotten used to it by now. She's the little one, isn't she?" He rolls his eyes and moves to the other end, and I follow behind him closely, my eyes moving across the set of gifts on the rows but nothing comes close
ASHLEY. A smile remains on my face as I stare at mine and Sinclair's last message. ME: I'm not sure I'll be able to make it. Lectures are hard on me these days. I'm so sorry, babe, you know how much I wish I could be there truly. SINCLAIR: I understand, Little Greene. My first wish was from you so that's alright. At the end of his message is a smiley face. Though I know he can put up with me not showing up on his day because of school, I also know he isn't okay like he claims to be. It's been two months since we last saw each other. Two months since we left Washington. Two months since that heartening night in the snow that's come to become one of my favourite moments with the man I love. Two months since I got an advance proposal from Sinclair Leovough, as weird as that sounds. "You honestly are a tease, " Lucy
