PAST SHADOWS.

The sharp smell of blood and burning continued to cling to the air as Kyra stood on the edge of the battleground. The field where so many had fought and perished was bathed in a pale light as the sun rose.

Though the warlord's men had been defeated, Kyra was aware that the fight was far from done. Though Havenbrook had shown its might, the conflict was far from ended. Kyra's thoughts were already shifting to her next move as she made her way across the camp.

Although they had gained some time, the warlord was not going to stop until Havenbrook was destroyed. They had to be ready for whatever was coming up next.

Marcus stepped forward, his eyes bright with resolve yet his face creased with fatigue. "Kyra, our scouts have informed us. The warlord's army is reorganizing in the southern region. We have a brief window of opportunity to strengthen our defenses and maybe attack them before they can mount another attack."

Kyra nodded, admiring his astute strategic thinking. "
