Eva gasped in short, ragged breaths while holding the artifact tightly to her chest. The recent form appearing in front of them emitted a dark energy that caused the hairs on her neck to bristle. The trees surrounding them appeared to become shadier, as the atmosphere turned colder and more stifling.

Xander advanced, his sword shining in the glow of the artifact. He asked, his voice firm yet tinged with anxiety, "Who are you?"

The eyes of the figure shone with a wicked gleam. "I am the Guardian of Shadows, protector of the darkness you wish to eliminate," it declared, its voice resounding with a bone-chilling quality. Your efforts are pointless. The darkness cannot be eliminated.

Eva's hold on the artifact became firmer. "We've progressed too much to go back at this point," she stated, demonstrating strong resolve with her words. "We will discover a solution to put an end to this."
