As he proceeded to stab his target, his hand just passed through like there was nothing there. The shock on his face was priceless. He was really sure that the person he was sent to kill wasn't untouchable, so why?, was it some skill, illusion, or was his own mind playing tricks on him?. He watched as the person in front of him turned and yelled in a tone that showed no signs of surprise "Shirooo!!, someone's hear to assassinate you" then turned and said to him "wait outside, he'll be out in a minute". Still a bit confused, the man took a few steps back as instructed and waited for what would happen next. His plan was foiled, but curiosity kept him on the job
Very little time passed before he finally began to see two of the same person, the one that was just arriving also looked unsurprised, and to make things more awkward, he was smiling. "Nice to meet you, my name is Shiro, Shiro Anderson. What's yours"
He was shocked at how one could be polite to a man that just tried to kill him, but at the same time, he was moved, so he reciprocated "I'm Lucas, just call me Lucas" he said, as he drew out his knife in response to his opponent's stance. Lucas wondered why someone who was battle-ready would be listening to music that was loud enough for someone else to hear through the headphones, so he turned to the other one and asked "Isn't he at a disadvantage with that?" but the boy just smiled and replied "you're the one at disadvantage."
"So what's your name?" Lucas asked again while being careful of Shiro
"it's Yang, my name is Yang" the boy answered without hesitation. Shiro and Yang were twins, no doubt about it, but what surprised Lucas was that their names meant the same thing, "White".
At this point Lucas was overcome with curiosity. The boys were polite to an assassin, there names meant the same thing, and how the hell does wearing headphones give you advantage in battle. But before he could ask anymore questions, Shiro's lightning grazed his left cheek as he dodged at the last second, it was the first time anyone had ever taken him by surprise. Normally, he would be the one surprising people, and not the other way around, he was as world class assassin, the best of the best, but right now he was being backed into a corner because of a factor that he didn't account for, but not for long.
Shiro's barrage of punches kept coming, and Lucas was evading all of them, moving like the wind in a literal manner, and countering them. It was very positive that Shiro was faster, but it was also affirmed that his attacks were predictable, a little too predictable. Shiro's strikes were repetitive, following the same pattern over and over again, neither increasing nor reducing speed, and Lucas was disappointed at this. Lucas could read Shiro patterns in detail, it was almost like he was also hearing the song Shiro was listening to, and that was when he realized that he had fallen for a trap. He had earlier thought that Shiro was too predictable for the skills he displayed, and now he realized. He was moving exactly how Shiro wanted him to move, the rhythmic movements had taken over his reflexes, and he was also being repetitive.
Lucas was trapped in the same dance-like routine, and his next objective was to break out, and probably leave before any other strange thing happens. Shiro, who was now a little distant from Lucas got ready for another strike, as he dashed, covered in lightning as always, and got closer to Lucas, something was different. The air around Lucas was stronger than usual, it was strong enough to be visible, and strong enough to cut Shiro deeply in the belly. "Oh come on!!" Shiro said in a frustrated tone as backed away, holding his stomach tightly.
Lucas finally saw himself at an advantage, he had broken Shiro's rhythm and wounded him seriously, he could complete his mission and and get it over with, but something in his mind told him "no"
Lucas turned his back to Shiro and said "I'm I'll probably come back, amuse me more when I do" then walked to a motorbike that was parked in a corner, hot wired it, and drove off. It was then that Victor came out to see what was going on. The whole situation was explained to him and he replied with an unsurprised "oh" then he asked "has anyone seen my mom's bike?"
After an unusual morning routine that included preparing work materials and staring at a picture of someone only he seemed to know, Orie was set to leave. He grabbed his overcoat and scarf, and put them on, then he contemplated before putting on his hand gloves. "I still can't get used to this cold" he said as he adjusted his scarf and straightened his coat. As he walked and opened his front door, he stood in front of his apartment, and put down his head with his eyes closed, and began to speak in a prayerly manner "Dear father, guide me Great Zik, watch over me Umunna'm(my brothers), have faith in me Ndi'ichë(my elders),bless me Amadioha, protect me And great Anyanwu, Show me the way. " Then he took a deep breath and shrugged, as he turned and made his way to work. Meanwhile, Shiro was still looking at himself in the mirror, checking how the clothes he was wearing looked on him. It was his first time wearing someone else's clothes, and he was s
And it came to pass, just as Dave had predicted, that as Orie walked back into the gym hall, the students were asked to leave, and he was ushered up onto the stage. "Let the questioning begin" Orie said to himself, as he smiled and rested his hands on the platform in front of him. Leading the questionnaire was non other than the kind of teacher who knows how to formulate difficult questions, the head of the mathematics department, mr. Fuji Waramaki "How were you able to perform such an incredible spell " Waramaki asked with all seriousness on his face. "I did it because I was able to " Orie replied almost immediately. "But according to your file, your maximum energy level is below average...so how?" Waramaki asked again, as he worked through paper on the table that looked like ones judges use in talent shows. "Like I said, I did it because I was able to" Orie replied, sticking to his answer. "That explains nothing " a voice yelled from behind "You did somet
He stood unready With his knees weak His arms were heavy There was blood all over his clothes already But he still had the energy to throw a punch a barrage of them maybe just a bunch but something wasn't right it was just a hunch He could evade properly In a weak state, but when he was strong, his reflexes came a bit late There was no logical answer for him to intake and the more he thought of it the more he couldn't think straight Well leave that aside and throw a bolt of lightning about a thousand volts to your opponent and give him a jolt, and make him hop around like a little colt that's how things were supposed to have gone but Shiro tried and couldn't get it done the armored man threw it back, and it dawned on Shiro that a real fight was on. Very soon after there was no sign of laughter, just the sound of clash and clatter, and a one sided fight was the matter but Shiro wasn't waiting to receive batte
There is a saying "he that greets danger with a smile must be ready to greet death same way" and there's also a probability that someone already said it even though I formulated it in my head "Was there a smile on my face when I died?" Shiro said to himself, as the quote repeatedly ran through his mind. "By the way"he thought "where am I? " he asked as he looked around the dark empty void he was in. The only thing he could see was himself "Is this the afterlife? " he asked "Feels pretty lonely to me " "No, that's the road to the afterlife " a voice answered from a direction Shiro couldn't make out. "I don't see any...." Shiro replied before realizing "Wait, who's there " he asked, feeling a bit confused. "So you can't see it " the same voice came again, this time from behind Shiro. Shiro turned to see a man with blonde hair, dressed in casual clothes as if he was on vacation. "Are you dead too" Shiro asked trying to understand the situation. Then the man laugh
"Dear Shiro, If you are reading this, it means you've been through enough hell for me to remember to give you this book. It also means that things may get worse very soon so be carefull. There are many things I would like to talk to you about but there isn't enough time so I'll just say the most important things. I know that by now you're curious about your mother and you probably already hate me for not remembering her so I'm apologizing even though I know that by now I've done it many times without you listening. Your mother's name is Ritsu. she is beautiful, lovely, a bit rugged and a whole lot stronger than I am. I have a hand drawn picture of her inside this book but that's all I've got so don't lose it. if you want to know more about her go to 'Hidemoto Yami' or Rin or maybe Orie but but don't hate them for not telling you the truth. And if you go to Yami's, be ready to dodge some bullets, I kinda got into big trouble here. This book contains information about every skill I
"Oh god, why the hell did I choose this place " Lucas said to himself as he scanned his environment. The lights were shaking, he could see naked wires sparking, and water seemed to be leaking from most parts of the ceiling. "Oh well, back to business " he shrugged and picked up a little bucket of water, then looked at his guest that was sitting "not so comfortably" on a chair. "wake up " he said as he emptied the bucket on his tied-up guest, and watched him get drenched in the water and wake up. "Oh come on!" Shiro yelled as he woke up to see himself tied up and wet. then he looked around the room slowly, and in a calm voice he said "why don't we begin?" and turned to Lucas with a smirk. With little hesitation, Lucas asked his first question, "who are you?". Shiro wasn't quite sure what that meant, so he replied with "I'm sure you already know what". And with great disappointment, Lucas put his hand on his hand over his face and paced around the room for a while. Then stopp
Four days had passed since Tanaka found the young man in the alley, her restaurant was torn apart a day after that and she was still trying to connect the dots. The young man was able to recall his name "Endo" but every other thing he said seemed to make no sense, he kept claiming that he was a king, and that he had just witnessed the annihilation of his entire kingdom. The words seemed true and sincere but problem was that there was no such kingdom as the one he had mentioned "Nihon" there was no kingdom with such a name, and if a kingdom had just been annihilated, it would be a worldwide news but there was no news about it. Despite all that, Endo claimed that everything he said was true. Tanaka on the other hand, contemplated she would do about it. "Should I use it?" she asked herself "would it be be proper?" she asked again "but it's only the two of us, no one would notice" Tanaka racked her brain for a few seconds before coming to a conclusion "I'll do it" she said as she walk
"Shin sekai academy, the tech house, the museum of lost history, the eternal tower and all the houses in Fubuki island, most people met these structures here and almost no one knows about anything before their existence. Most people say that it all started about a century ago when Jin Fubuki discovered the newly remerged island and made it into what it is today. it was said that he sold all he had in order to do so, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Jin wrote most of his findings down and one of the things he wrote was quite surprising. it was written that there was a clear sign of a former civilisation but only on half of the island because human human skulls and remains were all over the place on one side, but on the other side there was nothing but run down structures. This led to a speculation, it was assumed that as the island sank slowly from the south, and that people moved over to the north until there was no more hope. The speculation was ruled out after a huge nu
As soon as Ellie noticed there was something wrong with Orie, she signaled her crew to turn off their cameras. He had been mumbling for a while but soon the mumbling intensified. His eyes were heavy, his voice was inaudible, he could feel his consciousness fading but he kept on praying. He had thought that he had enough strength to keep up the prayer but his condition was worse than he had thought it was."I'm sorry" he said as he fell to his knees and went silent. As the paramedics were rushing to take Orie away the thing that he was trying to keep under control broke free and took over Natsumi.Kaen tried to call back his flames but they were sniffed out as soon as they came in. The mist was thick, it was cold and he could barely see what was in front of him. Icicles were coming at him from different angles and he could hardly evade any of them.He saw himself at a dead end. He could not see anything he could do that would cause him to win the match. He was tired, bleeding, aching a
"Who should I fear more?" Kaen wondered"Is it the monster that makes me shudder""Or is it the vessel that contains it?"As Kaen prepared to engage his opponent, all that he could think of was the fear that he felt. He could not forget it.Not many remember it but there was once a great incident that took place in Fubuki island. It was an incident that almost claimed the lives of all who lived on the island.A great frost, so cold that no flame could resist, quickly spreading and freezing everything in its path. In the dark winter night when many slept, this frost came along to take their breath.Somehow, everyone woke up in their beds the next morning with no recollection of the past twelve hours. This event sparked many rumors and among them was the rumour that the residents died and were brought back, proponents of this rumor backed their claims by speculating a tragic event within the twelve hours period. That night came to be known as the night where men slept. The "silent night
"THE SIGNS DO NOT LIETHE TRUTH WILL NOT DIEAS TIME WILL GO BYWE WILL SAY OUR GOODBYESFOR THE TRUE PRIEST TO BE BORNTHE FALSE GODS WILL ALL DIE"Orie heard these words just before he woke up. He looked around in confusion, trying to figure out where he was. The last thing he could remember was that he was surrounded by dust in the arena. He looked at the nurse who seemed surprised for a reason and asked "how long have I been here?""F... Four days" the nurse answered nervously and Orie remain silent"We thought you were dead" she added"Who won?" Orie asked"What?" The nurse replied, still shaken up"My fight" Orie rephrased"Who won?""Well..." The nurse replied"The other guy was disqualified so...""... I guess you won""Oh" Orie said as he tried to get off from the bed but the but the nurse immediately moved to stop him."You just woke up sir" she said"We can't let you walk around till we know for sure that you're okay""I'm okay" Orie replied as he got down from the bed but
Of the expectations that the people had, no one expected that a majority of the spectators would be okay with the outcome of the fight. They were sure that what they saw was real, they were sure that what they saw was fair, they were sure that the contestants gave it their all and they were sure that the winner deserved his victory.Even those who didn't support him in the beginning were cheering for him with all their heart, even those who lost their bets because of him rejoiced at the sight. There were many good fighters in the tournament, many who at the wave of their hands would cause marvelous sights but of all the fights in the tournament, Orie had shown them most invigorating. The cheers went on for a while until people in the crowd began to notice that the referee was yet to formally declare a winner. Soon they noticed that orie had not made a single movement since the clearing of the dust, he was still standing but he could not move.Though one person was on the floor while t
From within the circle came forth a huge bird of prey; a hawk. It appeard to be fully covered in silver. Just by looking at it, one could tell that its beak was harder than a rock and that its claws were as sharp as blades, even its wings didn't seem flying was all they could do. At this point in the battle where pride was being cast aside, the same thought ran through the minds of everyone watching. "NOW THE REAL FIGHT BEGINS" "Go" at this command from Chris, the bird threw itself at Orie with incredible speed. Orie evaded the bird without problem but what came next was quite challenging. After evading an attack from above he found himself facing one from below. Not many can escape such attacks from Chris. He would use the bird to make his opponents dodge in a certain manner, then he would go in for the real attack when their balance had been compromised. It was quite an effective move, but just not for Orie. "How is this possible?" Chris thought to himself as he
"This is my day" "This is my day" "This is my day" It kept repeating but Natsumi could not understand what it meant" "This is my day" She knew she had forgotten something "This is my day" She was sure she had forgotten something "This is my day" Something that would help her discern the situation. "This is my day" It stopped as soon as she realized what it meant. She remembered that when she thought it was Orie's birthday, he had told her these words. She remembered how he told her of the four market days of his tribe and that he shared his name with one of them. She remembered that he told her how the days affected his power, and this made her the least surprised person among the audience when Orie got back up on his feet. "WHAT... THE... F***!!!!?" Ellie screamed at the camera "How much blood does this guy have?" "He's lost so much yet he is still standing" "What kind of immortal dragon sh** is this" "This is not easy to believ
Chris Vanadium. The only reason he didn't make it to the finals as much as Cal was that he faced Waramaki in most of the semifinals. He is one of the few people that have been able to beat Cal in the previous tournaments. He is also a one time champion and the one he beat to earn that title was none other than Fuji Waramaki. There were many reasons to fear him, but most feared attribute of his was the speed of his blade. Yes, he fights with a sword and he is really good with it; so good that a large percentage of his matches end in less than a minute. Anyone that saw his previous match was immediately reminded of how dangerous he was, even some that had faith in Orie in the previous match lost it for this one. To sum things up on how dangerous he was, the chance of him making it to the final match of the current tournament was ninety-nine percent. Though Orie's match was the first of round one, in round two, his match was the third. Not many had high hopes for this match beca
There was complete silence in all parts of the stadium. It wasn't that people had nothing to say but what could they say that could explain what just happened before their eyes? They just watched as the referee ran in to confirm the outcome. It took longer than usual as the referee also had his doubts but in the end he had no choice but to declare Cal unable to continue. The silence broke immediately he stood up to declare Orie the winner. The doubt of many began to flow out in words. "IT'S A LIE!!" "THIS IS BULLSHIT!!" "THIS GAME IS RIGGED!!" There was no word of doubt that was not spoken at that moment. Even when the medics came out to put Cal on a stretcher, people still thought it was an act. What could Orie do? He had just won a match and no one believed it. There was hardly anyone cheering for him, all the loud voices expressed nothing but doubt, hate, and disbelief. Despite all the hate he was getting, he just cracked a smile and walked out of the arena
You never truly appreciate a miracle unless you heard of it before it happened. That moment when the thing you thought was just too impossible begins to unfold before you for the very first time. There is no look more precious than that of one who has had such experience. Miracles happen only once. After that, it becomes a possibility. Cal and Orie were initially rated on a seven to one ratio. This meant that the officials of this tournament believed that Cal was at least seven times more powe6r than Orie and seven times more likely to win. At the current time the ratio had become ten to one. It seemed hopeless for the few that had put their faith in Orie. The match wasn't over but the situation made them feel the winner was already decided. "What is he doing in there?" "Does he have a death wish?" "Just give up already!!"even some of those that were on his opponent's side felt pity for him but Orie was not one to dwell on pity. He could not hear their words, al
