MELONIE'S POV:
My world crumbled, I wasn't scared, I was horrified.
I wasn't ready, but I was forced to be.
It's just one way to die, die or die either way.
Thick sweat escaped my forehead and my heart was heavy with worry.
“Everyone inside! lock the doors, lock the windows,” Arwan's voice echoed.
I gawked at him as he calmly took responsibility, “I'm coming with you,” I declared.
He stared back at me, “What can you possibly do to help? Stay here, go into your room and lock the door and windows. It's safer that way.”
“You broke the lock,” I stated in remembrance.
He paused for a while as if trying to verify what I said, “Then go into mine.”
Arwan left the building I was, into the main building to save others, I couldn't explain it, but strangely, there was this force pulling me to him.
“Arwan,” I murmured in fear.
I trailed behind him, and for a reason, I could barely leave him to get hurt, even if there was barely anything I could do.
“Everyone, vacate this building and move into Melonie's building, it's not safe here,” Arwan announced.
I could hear whispers and concerns, “Why? What's going on? Melonie's building? Didn't they keep her there because she was dangerous?”
My eyes scanned their faces, “Don't worry I can't even hurt a fly right now.”
Arwan came forward, breathing heavily, “Melonie what are you doing here? I told you to stay back and lock yourself in.”
“Okay stop scolding, I don't know how I got here also, I guess I'm magnetized to you,” I responded truthfully.
It took a while for him to digest it, and then he blurted out, “Quickly, direct them all to your building, it's safer there with the walls and gate.”
“I don't think I can do that; they are all scared of me more than the dark walkers after their lives,” I lamented, discouraged.
Without looking back at me, he growled, “Assist me or get lost.”
Soon, everyone gathered in my building and he stood in front to give an announcement.
“My mother, well known as Mrs. Hunter is dead,” Arwan announced.
Whispers, murmurs and fear arose from the crowd, “Doesn't that mean we are all in trouble?”
Arwan gazed at the man talking, “You are right; indeed we are in trouble. The one who protects our walls and realm is dead.”
“So what happens to us? Are we going to die too?”
“Maybe! We all will probably die soon. We have a threat that we have never been able to eliminate and even now, we have no way of fighting back, so count your stars and pray to heaven, that you survive three days without you being a full-course meal to dark walkers,” Arwan stated coldly.
More voices erupted from the crowd, “What is he talking about now?”
“I am the oldest in this realm, and from now on… I will be leading you all; if you listen to me, I'll try to keep you safe - if you go the wrong path, then you are on your own; whoever wants to leave can leave now, if there's one thing we need - it's space,” Everywhere became silent, no one dared to speak against it or make another suggestion. “The walls might be strong enough to protect us for a while, there is food and water that can last for three days. Gather your strength and be ready to fight,” he stated, walking out of the crowd.
I hauled behind him, “Are you alright?”
“My mother just died, I've never been better,” he responded sarcastically.
I stared at his emotionless face, “You can actually cry it out you know.”
“It's been ages since I last cried,” he stated softly, “And why would I do that? It won't bring her back.”
I bit my lower lip, “Well, I just wanted to check up on you before I leave for my room.”
“You are staying in my room tonight,” Arwan stated, pulling me in forcefully, “It's safer here because I broke your lock.”
I hesitated for a while, “Yes, but… won't you be uncomfortable?”
“Safety first. If you aren't important, my mother wouldn't have died protecting you,” he retorted.
My face turned bitter, “That's why you shouldn't, Everyone protecting me ended up dying in the process. They are like the sacrifice for every breath I take. I don't want that to happen to you too.”
His shoulders dropped, but he didn't push the conversation, “Take the bed, I'll use the floor.”
“Hell no! If you want me to remain here, then we are both using the bed,” I pointed out calmly.
We both lay on each side of the bed, welcoming us to the most awkward night ever.
**🥀**
I was jolted awake by the sound of loud bangs and screams piercing through the night air. My heart racing, I sat up in bed and rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the haze of sleep. But as I listened more closely, I realized that the commotion was coming from within the building.
I looked around in search of Arwan, he wasn't in the room, “Fuck! That dragon left me to sleep in such a terrifying moment.”
I threw off the covers and jumped out of bed, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. I stumbled through the darkness; my hands outstretched in front of me like a blind person. As I reached the door, I flung it open and rushed into the hallway.
The screams and bangs were louder now, and I could tell that they were coming from outside the building. How on earth do those things get past the gate? I took the stairs two at a time, my heart pounding in my chest. As I reached the bottom, I saw that the living room was in chaos.
Furniture was overturned, and objects were scattered all over the floor. Lycanthropic dragons of the realm were running around, screaming and shouting. I saw Arwan, Arlo and Clara, trying to restrain the little ones, who were crying and kicking their legs.
I rushed over to them, trying to make sense of what was happening. "What's going on?" I shouted over the din. "What's wrong?"
Clara turned to me; her face white with fear. "It's...it's at the front door," she stammered. “They… are trying to get in!"
I felt a chill run down my spine as I turned to look at the front door. It was shaking and rattling, dark walkers were trying to force their way in. I knew then that I had to act fast to protect the realm, but no matter how hard I tried, I remained useless.
MELONIE'S POV:We all froze, and everyone seemed lost in their own agony. “Should we all be saying our last prayers?” Clara asked out of nowhere, with a bitter face.Arlo also looked devastated, “Melonie do something.”“What exactly can I do? Jump in front of those things and get snapped in two? Gosh, you all never loved me,” I retorted firmly. My gaze fell on Arwan. Although everyone was scared, he seemed to be deep in thought, trying to come up with a solution. “I'll lead them away from the building,” Arwan blurted out.“That's ridiculous,” I spat back, “No Arwan. That's a terrible idea! You can't do that.”“I have less of a choice right now,” he defended, “That door will not hold, a lot of people will die. Our realm will be wiped and emptied, never to be remembered.”“THOSE DEADLY THINGS WILL KILL YOU!” I yelled out in panic, “They are not one or two; there are a lot out there, waiting to tear us apart like over boiled chickens.”Arwan took steps closer to me, “I know Melonie, but
ARWAN'S POV:I stared at the unconscious figure of Melonie. She was scared to fight until I was thrown to the ground by dark walkers, she looks just like her birth mother, I can only hope she doesn't act like her and end up dying.I picked her up and carried her to her room, with Clara and Arlo following behind.“Is she fine?” Clara asked worriedly.“She must have exhausted her strength,” she passed out, after transformation." I explained.Arlo nodded in understanding, “It would have been weird if that didn't happen. She literally saved us all.”A warm smile spread across my face, “She saved me.”It took hours, before Melonie calmly opened her eyes, “Where am I?” She asked, looking around.A teasing smirk appeared on my face, “In heaven, you died a while ago.”She scoffed out loud, struggling to get up, “Jokes on you.”**🥀**MELONIE'S POV:I could barely feel myself, my body ached from the fight and overuse of power.“Can you stand?” Arwan asked calmly.I nodded in approval, “Yes. Ho
MELONIE'S POV:Everyone was focused on training, but I was focused on Arwan, since seriousness has decided to forsake me, I should use it on something I enjoy doing.Arwan stretched his hand towards me, “Come here, Melonie.”I ran forward immediately, awaiting the training and results of the day.Clara also ran towards us, “Hey guys, I'll be training with you,” she stated and I smiled warmly at her, noticing the distance between us.“Clara… is something wrong?” I asked reluctantly. Her warm smile disappeared, “C'mon — nothing is wrong. It's just…”I turned towards her with a serious face, “It's just…” I encouraged her to keep talking.“Melonie, I saw you transform yesterday,” she explained. “I have never seen such a powerful creature in my life. You — you were fully transformed into something that never existed.”“Right, so you are even more scared of me now?” I asked bitterly, “C'mon I'd literally protect you rather than hurt you.”“I know Melonie… I just got goosebumps,” Clara state
MELONIE'S POV:I frantically scanned the shelves, my eyes racing over the spines of the books I had been searching for what felt like an eternity, and I was starting to lose hope.I was searching for answers about my kind. About the creatures of the night, with skin that shifted and eyes that glowed. About the beings with the power to transform, to run with the wolves and soar with the dragons.I was desperate to learn more about my true nature.I pulled down book after book, scanning the pages for any mention of my kind. I read about vampires and werewolves, about shapeshifters and demons. But none of it seemed quite right.I was getting desperate. I felt like I was running out of time like I needed to find the answers I was looking for before it was too late.I moved to the restricted section of the library, the part that was hidden away from prying eyes. I had heard rumours of a book that was hidden here, a book that held the secrets of my kind.I searched the shelves, my heart pou
MELONIE'S POV:As I gazed into his eyes, I felt my entire being melt into a sea of adoration. Every fibre of my existence seemed to vibrate with an intense, all-consuming love.I see why I feel connected to him, he saved me and is still keeping me.Time stood still as I stared, the world around us fading into insignificance. Nothing else mattered, nothing else existed. Only him. His precious soul was worthy of my attention. My heart swelled with emotion, threatening to burst free from my chest. I felt like I was drowning in a sea of devotion, unable to breathe or think. All I could do was feel, and what I felt was an overwhelming, soul-crushing love.As I gazed deeper into his eyes, I saw my own reflection staring back at me. I saw the hopes, the dreams, the fears, and the desires that we shared.“My family is the oldest record-breaking Lycanthropic dragon in the realm, I existed before your mother. My mother warned me about keeping you all to myself, but I just couldn't endure the pa
MELONIE'S POV:Arwan and I rushed towards others in an attempt to be together when other dark walkers swam in but instead, we found them sited in the worst lifeless and heartbroken way possible.“Where are they?” Arwan asked, looking around.Arlo's gaze went up to meet him, “They left! Ran off… we need to come up with a better plan, or we will all die here.”“If they ran away…” I butted in, “doesn't that mean we won? We scared them away — right?”“I don't think so,” Clara argued. I think they are being very strategic. They came to observe something, to return even more prepared.”“We have lost a lot of people already,” Arlo cried out, covering his face with his palms.Arwan stepped forward “C'mon, let's go.”We walked back into our building as sobs and wails echoed through the walls of the realm.Everywhere was painted with blood and everyone seemed to have lost one person or the other.“I don't like this,” I murmured in tragedy.Arwan softly looked at me, “Nobody does. Let's focus on
🥀MELONIE'S POV🥀I took a deep breath, feeling a surge of determination coursing through my veins."I'll do it," I said, my voice firm. "I'll face my fears, no matter what."For the first time, I felt like I could do it. I felt like I could overcome anything.“That's my girl,” Arwan stated, a smile spreading across his face.My eyes turned curious, “Are you saying — you like me?” Arwan chuckled, and I was forced to smile. Seeing him chuckle was the best achievement, and it made me feel like I should put myself in trouble again and again. He cupped my face with his palms, smiling warmly, “I'll tell you when this fight is settled.”“Okay,” I replied immediately, returning his smile.Night fell, and people of the realm were locked in a building while Arwan, Arlo and Clara stayed hidden in their arranged position, each of them stayed ready to lock and secure the door to the building.I stood there, awaiting the figure of dark walkers but none appeared. Not even one of the thousands I wa
🥀MELONIE'S POV🥀He kept mute and stood up with me in his arms, carrying me like a princess to my room.I tugged at his neck, “You are not saying anything Arwan. Am I allowed to want you?”“Melonie take some rest,” Arwan whispers, “Let's talk tomorrow.”I shook my head in refusal, “I'm too curious to wait until tomorrow. You said you would tell me after the fight, it's over now Arwan and we won.”A warm smile spread across his face, “When did you become so obsessed?” “The first time we met,” I blurted out without thinking about it.He stared at me with raised brows, “You hated me the first time we met.”“That's because you dragged me out of my world to this place…” I growled, “Okay, maybe the second time.”“Do you regret it?” He suddenly asked, his eyes piercing my body.I stared at him inquiringly, “What?” “Being dragged here,” he pushed on.“I did — but not anymore,” I responded with a smile. His eyes went from my eyes to my lips and then my eyes again, “Why?”“Because you are in
🥀 MELONIE'S POV 🥀My heart skipped a beat as I felt a shiver run down my spine. Finally, the person I was warned about had decided to show up, the evil side of me that feeds on nothing but destruction. He was taller than I had expected, with piercing eyes that seemed to bore into my soul. His smile was charming, but it didn't quite reach his eyes, leaving me with a sense of unease.I felt a surge of adrenaline as I stood frozen, unsure of what to do next. Part of me wanted to turn and run, to get as far away from him as possible. But another part of me was curious, wanting to know more about this being who had sparked so much fear and fascination. As I stood there, he began to move towards me, his eyes never leaving mine. I felt a sense of trepidation, unsure of what to expect. Was he going to hurt me, or was he just going to try and charm me?I took a deep breath and stood my ground, trying to appear braver than I felt. As he approached me, I could feel my heart pounding in my ches
🥀 MELONIE'S POV 🥀I stood frozen, my ears ringing with the crazy words I heard but was trying to unhear. The room around me seemed to fade away, and all that was left was the sound of my own heartbeat, pounding in my chest like a drum. The words themselves seemed to echo through my mind, a cruel and heartless refrain that I couldn't shake. "I buried him." "He's better off dead." "That's what's best for all of us."All the air was knocked out of me. My lungs burned, and my eyes stung with tears that I couldn't hold back.I tried to speak, to ask for clarification or to plead for a different outcome. But my voice was caught in my throat, and all that came out was a strangled sob.I felt like my world had been shattered, like everything I thought I knew had been turned upside down. I was left standing amidst the wreckage, trying to make sense of the ruins. As the reality of the situation began to sink in, I felt a wave of grief wash over me. It was a heavy, crushing weight that consume
🥀 ARWAN'S POV 🥀As I stood there, my mind racing with thoughts of the unknown, I couldn't shake off the feeling of dread that had settled in the pit of my stomach. The development of this child, who had been delivered a few days before, was already too advanced; he was like a year old in two days.My heart was racing, my palms were sweating, and worst-case scenarios consumed my thoughts. What if this is the worst mistake we could ever make? What if this child is nothing but sorrow? What if we die in the process? I felt anxious, scared, and overwhelmed. I just wanted to hide, to escape from the uncertainty and the fear that was gripping me. But I knew I couldn't. I had to face my fears, to push through the anxiety and find a way to make it work.I gawked at the baby in Lavanya's arms. She was scared but the fact that she was staring at the child seemed to calm her down.Arlo walked into the room, Clara rushing behind, “Why did you stop?” Clara yelled.Arlo looked back at her and sm
🥀 ARWAN'S POV 🥀The room fell silent as our eyes fixed on the unbelievable sight before us. Gasps and whispers filled the air as we all struggled to comprehend what we were seeing. The baby seemed to defy explanation, a mesmerising sight that drew in every gaze like a magnet. It was as if time itself had frozen, leaving only stunned silence and awestruck stares. My mouth hung open, and my face was pale with wonder. Lavanya's eyes were wide with excitement, and her pupils dilated as she took in every detail.Clara looked like she was about to faint, her legs trembling beneath her as she struggled to remain upright.“I'll take the child and clean him up,” Lavanya blurted out, stretching her arms.I gawked at her, “Be careful Lavanya.”“Oh c'mon,” she snapped back, “He's just a cute little baby.”“That eats flesh and blood,” Alpha Vargus added, causing Lavanya to roll her eyes.“Wh -why does he look like… an angel?” Clara muttered.I looked at Melonie, she was unconscious. The witch no
🥀 MELONIE'S POV 🥀I felt more alive, it was as if blood was the medicine I should have taken since the beginning of my horrifying pregnancy. I looked down at the empty bowls of blood on the ground. I could tell that such an amount of blood didn’t come from one or two people, it definitely came from tons of people and lives. They say blood is the life force that flows through mortal veins and the essence of life itself, so why blood? I looked at my growing belly, my hunger and thirst did not stop, but I wasn’t hungry for food or water, I was hungry for blood. The same thing that disgusted me, but somehow, I was enjoying it.It did disgust me, but it didn’t disgust the child I was carrying.“Should I really give birth to this child?” I thought, “What if I’m making a mistake because I don’t want my daughter dead? What if I’m protecting this child because of the fact that I’m the one carrying it?I reached for another bowl of blood, gulped it down without thinking twice, and felt even
🥀 MELONIE'S POV 🥀Several herbs were brought to me, I was barely breathing – I was in a worse state than I have ever been, since my birth; but still I couldn't eat.“Did the child break her ribs?” Clara asked in fear.“The child is way too powerful for her system,” the witch announced. First, we need to find a way to feed her.”At the mention of food, I began to throw up, but there was nothing in my tummy to vomit, so it was extremely painful, I just kept screaming and crying.“I don't think the child wants food,” the witch reasoned out.“If not food, then what the hell does she want?” Arwan barked.“Blood… human blood,” Bruno announced.“Hell no! I'm not in for this,” Arwan snarled.“No wayyyyy…” Lavanya gasped.“We don't know that yet, Arwan. Let's just give it a try,” Clara added.“Human blood??? Blood??? What is it? A vampire?” Arwan yelled back.“No, she's not a vampire and we are just giving it a try,” the witch retorted.Arwan walked closer to the witch, “Well the answer is n
🥀 MELONIE'S POV 🥀A rush of cold spread through my body, I stared at Arwan in disbelief.“How could you…” I paused, trying to react appropriately.I was dazed, confused and disoriented.“Why are you doing this Arwan?” I calmly asked, “Why did you bring that witch?”“I won't stand by and watch that thing kill you,” Arwan blurted out.“Child!” Clara corrected.“Shut up Clara!” Arwan menacingly muttered.“I already told you, I'm not getting rid of my daughter. When she's born, I'll name her Ariel or Agatha,” I calmly announced, “Even if I'm no more, you'll have her by your side.”“You must be delusional to think that I'll love that thing if it kills you,” Arwan retorted, “I'll leave you with the witch, and by the time I come back… I hope that thing is gone.”Arwan stormed out of the room, and I gawked at the witch.“Leave!” I commanded.“Melonie, listen to me,” she started. I regret everything I did in the past. I was only trying to find a means to protect myself. That's why I didn't c
🥀 MELONIE'S POV 🥀I stood frozen, my ears ringing with the words that had just been spoken. It was as if time had stopped, and all that existed was the shock and disbelief that coursed through my veins.“What do you mean… pregnant Lavanya?” I blurted out, breaking the silence.“What do you mean? What do I mean?” Lavanya responded, “I've seen a lot of pregnant women… you are one of them, look at your baby bump.”“Exactly,” Arwan retorted, “There shouldn't be a bump yet. She's literally a day pregnant.”“It's growing so fast, every minute,” Clara blurted out.“Is that okay?” I asked fearfully, “Is this how fast a baby grows in your world? I mean, for humans… It's nine months.”“Of Course, it's not okay… you are the dragon wolf, and Arwan is a fucking ancient lycanthropic dragon,” Bruno interrupted, “That seems very abnormal… just like you, it shouldn't be born.”“It?” I whispered.“Melonie, calm down,” Lavanya muttered. It's nine months in our world, too… I don't know why it's growing
🥀 CLARA'S POV 🥀I stood before him, my words trembling on my lips. I knew what I was about to say would shatter his world, and crush the love and trust he had placed in me.As I looked into his eyes, I saw the innocence, the vulnerability, and the adoration that shone brightly within them. And I knew that I was about to extinguish that light, to snuff out the flame of love that had burned so brightly.I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the pain I was about to inflict. "I'm sorry," I whispered, the words feeling like ash in my mouth. "I'm too in love with Arlo, I can't love you back… ever."The words hung in the air like a challenge, a cruel and heartless declaration that left him reeling. I watched in horror as his face crumpled, as the tears began to flow, and as his world came crashing down around him.He looked at me with eyes that were filled with shock, with pain, and with betrayal. "How could you?" he whispered, his voice trembling with anguish. "How could you do this t
