LOGINChristina ran into her room and closed the door shut behind her almost immediately. Her heart was beating, slamming hard against her ribcage and she could feel the tightness that made it's way to her throat. She knew that it wasn't there because of thirst but something else, something that she wasn't ready to fully admit to herself. What on earth is wrong with her? And why him? Why him of all people?Placing her hands on her chest, she started to take slow but deep breaths to calm her nerves that were all over the place. She had never felt like this until now so she didn't know exactly how to handle it.If only she could tell Hera and maybe ask for advice but doing that would give her away and if Hera began to get suspicious then she wouldn't be able to face her at all."I don't know what's wrong with me." She cried to herself as she discarded the shawl and made her way towards the bed.Maybe she was just in her feels and it will all go away when she sleeps it off by tomorrow morning.
"I urm..." Christina stuttered shamelessly as she tried to pull herself away from him. She took a step back, and another till she felt like she had moved a considerable distance. It felt like he was still close no matter how far she was trying to get away from him. The cold air and suddenly turned hot and was starting to burn slowly inside her.Max noticed her uneasiness but didn't say anything about it because he didn't want to make her uncomfortable. He wanted to break the silence that had enveloped them so suddenly like a thick blanket but even he, couldn't understand his own feelings at the moment so what exactly would he even say to her?He was miserable because it has been a very long time since he felt anything remotely close to what he was feeling at the moment. He somehow knew what it was but he didn't want to admit it—yet.Hell, he didn't even want to admit it at all. Christina is just a friend. She's like a sister to him because her brother in-law is his best friend and thi
"There you are!" Christina exclaimed happily from a distance. I've been looking for you everywhere." She spoke out to my hearing as she made her way towards the garden that was secluded from the main building. Her hands latching onto the warm blanket that was draped around her shoulders to protect her skin from the cold wind of the evening.Max saw her approaching him, his gaze fixed on her as he waited patiently for her to get closer. Her blonde hair was let down as the wind blew the strands in all directions. He had never seen her with her hair like this except for the last time that he accidentally walked in on her after her shower and maybe the other night they were stuck together in an hotel. It was a rare sight; one he wouldn't stop staring at as though he was trying to commit it to memory. He often wondered how a woman like her was able to get to him in this manner. It was just like what his mother and Bryce had said. What is happening to him? He wasn't even able to answer her
"I've handled everything on my end so unless it's extremely important then please, do not reach out to me until I'm back from my trip." Max instructed his secretary, his eyes casted outside the window from the edge of the balcony where he stood."Also, my number might be unavailable for a while so trouble Bryce on my behalf instead."He heard his secretary force a chuckle before responding in agreement.Max was certain that nothing would happen but if it does indeed happen then it'll get to Bryce first to find a solution at least before he's roped in should in case things spiral out of control."Okay Sir, enjoy your trip."And with that, the line went dead. With a deep sigh, he pocketed his phone and took in the open space one last time, his hands folded across his chest. He couldn't believe that Christina had played him like that. Whether she did it intentionally or unintentionally, it still didn't change the fact that she had indeed played him.He wanted to be angry so bad but then
"Hi Mom," Max greeted his mother with a hug after stepping into the house. She had rushed into his arms, almost knocking him down as she wrapped her hands tightly around his neck."Why did it take you so long to visit us?" She questioned, her head still resting on his shoulders. "Patty told me that she called you countless times to ask when you'd be stopping by but you kept ignoring her.""I missed you too, Mom." He said, changing the subject instead and she jabbed him playfully on the cheeks."And I'm sorry for not coming sooner." He apologized when she finally pulled away from the embrace. "Work was hectic and I had a lot of things to do. It was brutal.""You're here now, that's all that matters." She smiled at him, her eyes lighting up with every grin that spread across her lips."And Patty told me that you brought a guest." She asked, peeking through his broad shoulders but Max instinctively stepped out of the way so that his mother can get a closer look at Christina."She's Bryce
"We're home." Max announced hours after they arrived at their destination as he pulled up in front of a mansion that was located at the outskirts of town.Christina opened her eyes to peek through the gates that housed the most breathtaking place that she had ever seen. Her eyes couldn't believe any of this. She has always known that Max was doing well for himself but she didn't know that it was this good.Well, why would she even think otherwise anyway when his best friend is also wealthy too. She was a fool for thinking anything less cause this place doesn't even look like a family house. It could be a resort and she wouldn't even be surprised."It's good to see you again, Mr Maxwell." The security greeted and Max smiled at him."Likewise, John." He answered and drove in when the gates were pulled open. After making a round turn at the fountain, he parked his car at an empty space and turned off the engines."Well, welcome to the place where I was born and raised." He said casually
Mona smiled at his request. Now it was her time to finally turn the tables around. She was going to do to him double–no triple of what he had done to her. He was at her mercy now and she was going to show him just how much dominance a woman has over a man when she decides to will that power. She reac
"So, we're back at your place." Max announced, his fingers drumming quietly on the steering wheel as his car came to rest just outside her apartment."It sure looks like it," Her answer was brief as her lips stretched into a thin smile, forcing her already rising nerves to go still.Max waited for
"How long do you think it'll take before we arrive home?" Christina asked and Max glanced over at his watch before facing the road again."I think that it'll take a while but I'll make sure you arrive safely so you don't have to worry." He answered and she fell back to her chair. Since they left th
Christina woke up bright and early when the rays of sun hit her through the curtains of their room. She groaned awake and opened her eyes slowly. Her eyes searched around the empty room she was sleeping in but there was no sign of Max. Alarmed, she sat upright. Her head was in a mess.Last night, i
