Chapter 8
Scarlett pov
It's a new week, and it's time to get ready for work. Marina landed me a sales position at a supermarket to hold me over until she can find something better in an office. I realize that's just a dream for someone like me, who feels uneducated and out of place.
I was still rolling around in bed, completely naked. My hands sluggishly reached for the duck-shaped alarm clock, struggling to silence it. With a heavy sigh, I glanced at the main wall clock, blinking in disbelief at the time.
"Crap!" I shouted, quickly swinging my legs off the bed. A sharp pain shot through me as my skin pinched. What was that? I wondered, gently probing the mattress with my hands.
My heart raced as I rubbed the sore spot. I then shuffled to the wardrobe to slip into a revealing dress. My stomach growled, and I felt lightheaded as I stumbled toward the wardrobe, my legs moving without much thought.
"Scarlett! It's time for work; the bus for store staff is here," Marina called from the hallway, pacing back and forth. She knocked on my door with enough force to rattle it. "Scarlett, did you hear me? Your..." she paused, hissing in frustration, and I stayed silent inside the wardrobe.
It felt like a long day had already passed, even though I had just woken up. I approached the door, leaned against it, and rested my hands on the doorknob.
Looking through the peephole, I saw that the area was clear. I couldn't go a day without practicing, and now it had been three days since I last checked on my spiritual abilities.
My gaze shifted to the standing mirror with a pink frame. The metallic floral design caught my attention, making my heart race.
It felt like a subtle transformation, almost like a mutant. I sensed a stirring in my stomach, a sign that my wolf was awakening within me, igniting my transformation.
As I peered into the mirror, my gaze was drawn to the intricate metallic flower pattern, igniting a familiar fire within me. My pulse raced, and my senses heightened. I could feel the wolf within me, eager to emerge.
I inhaled deeply, attempting to steady my nerves. I couldn’t allow the transformation to take place now, especially not before heading to work. But it was already too late. The change had begun, and I could sense my body starting to morph.
My hands shook as I clutched the door handle, desperately trying to maintain my human form. Yet, it was futile. The transformation surged through me, and I felt my body twisting and reshaping.
A soft whimper escaped my lips as my limbs retracted and my senses intensified. My skin prickled as fur erupted from my pores, and my face elongated into a snout.
I was no longer a person. I had become a wolf.
I glanced back at the mirror, where a pair of fierce yellow eyes met my own. I let out a low growl, attempting to regain my composure.
But as I surveyed the room, panic set in. I couldn’t let Marina witness this. I needed to find a way to master my transformations and keep my secret safe.
I crept quietly out of the room, desperate to find a way to slip away unnoticed. However, as I stepped into the corridor, Marina's voice rang out, unmistakably clear.
"Scarlett, where are you? The bus is waiting!”
No! I can't transform into a wolf right now. I dashed back to my bed, my tongue flicking out as I inhaled and exhaled, my eyes flashing a menacing yellow—a stark reminder that this transformation would last longer than just a minute. Did I really just say a minute?
"Scarlett!!"
“I’m not here!! You might want to grab some cookies and milk for breakfast; I made some for you, sweetheart!!”
Her voice echoed through the hallway. I heard every word, but I was too caught up in my struggle to regain control and reach her before she did something that could ruin everything. Suddenly, I heard footsteps drawing closer, and my eyes widened. In my animal form, I was still battling with my subconscious.
“Scarlett? Are you in there? You've been quiet all morning. Are you alright?” I stayed silent, hoping that the overly sweet lady wouldn’t decide to open the door.
My heart raced as I held my breath, watching Marina’s hand move toward the doorknob. I couldn’t let her see me like this; the thought alone made me cringe with embarrassment.
Just as her hand brushed the knob, I let out a low growl, attempting to warn her off. Instead, it came out more like a whimper, and I could feel her confusion.
"Scarlett, what's wrong? Why are you acting so weird today?" she asked, concern threading through her voice.
I stayed quiet, my gaze locked on the door, silently wishing she would just leave me be.
But Marina was persistent. She slowly turned the knob and pushed the door open, her eyes scanning the room.
And then she laid eyes on me.
Her expression morphed into pure shock, and she stumbled back, her hand darting to her mouth like it was a reflex.
"Oh my...Scarlett, what on earth happened to you?" she gasped, her voice shaking like a leaf in the wind.
“You're completely exposed and sprawled out on the floor. Are you alright? Do you need a trip to the ER?” she stammered, but thank the stars she didn’t catch me in my wolf form.
I fought to get up, my vision blurry as I tried to focus on her, and my heart dropped when I realized my claws were still out. Seriously, what the heck!
I was still sporting werewolf claws on my fingers, so I quickly tucked them behind me and managed to get to my feet.
“Oh my goodness! Werewolf claws!!”
Scarlett pov“Oh, honey! Werewolf claws, can you believe it? Snagged them from the store down the street, and I just know you’re about to lose it! Just kidding,” my voice was barely a whisper because I was still trying to pull myself together. Seriously, it was wild how she just waltzed into my room like she owned the place without even knocking. I shot her a look while I stayed curled up on the floor, hoping the clueless wonder would take the hint and scream. “Alright, since you’re obsessed with werewolves, I guess I’ll be on my way.” She looked all kinds of confused, but I could see the suspicion brewing in her eyes. “Marian!” I called out as she turned to make her exit.“What’s up, Scarlett?”“I’ll catch the bus or something to work, so don’t stress about me.” “Oh, I’m not worried at all. Just get your butt off the floor and put some clothes on. I’ll be waiting outside.”I nodded, blinking like a lost puppy, trying to nudge her out the door with my head. “I’m on my way out
Chapter 10 Nyx pov“What if you became a breeder for a king? I thought we had an agreement: if Scarlett leaves the house, you owe me a blowjob.” I said with a grin. Her eyes danced on my chest like a lost lamb. She was unpredictable and funny, and I felt at ease with her demeanor. Her gaze and smiles were infectious. We weren't particularly close, yet there was a strong bond between us. I couldn't dismiss the feelings; they were intense, igniting my desire and revealing unfamiliar emotions. All I could think about was tasting her and hearing her whisper my name.We remained on the couch, our eyes locked, my eyelids fluttering as a smile broke through. "What? You shouldn't look at me like that!" she teased, tracing her fingers along my lips. "I want you, Katherine," I replied, meeting her gaze. She caressed my hair softly, leaning in closer, and I pressed my lips against hers.Katherine's eyes sparkled as our mouths met, sending tingles through me. Her soft kiss deepened, and I
Scarlett povThe morning breeze rushed through my window, rattling the glasses and creating a cacophony of sounds that made it impossible for me to focus. My mind felt jumbled, and I tossed and turned on my pillow, clutching it tightly as the familiar scent enveloped me. I squint one eye open to sneak a glance at the clock.“What the heck!” I exclaimed, leaping out of bed with my heart pounding in my chest. I was already running late. Normally, I wouldn’t care about what the store owner thought, but Marian had a knack for inserting herself into my life. Just as I was lost in thoughts of her, I heard her voice echoing from the hallway.“Scarlett! Are you ready? It’s timeee…” she called out, stretching the word "time" for dramatic effect. If I had the luxury of time, I would have tackled the laundry piling up around me. The sight of dirty clothes scattered everywhere made me uneasy, and a wave of longing for my family washed over me. I felt a sense of discomfort as I slowly pulled a cha
Chapter 12 Scarlett povThe sensation on my skin made my hair stand on end with unease. A man in dark sunglasses, hands tucked into his pockets, approached me. He felt otherworldly, radiating an energy that was hard to define."Hey, princess, can you hand me the cake posh? A customer needs it," a colleague called out, waving his hands. But my attention was solely on the man coming closer. I lost my balance on the stool I was using to organize the store's products. I took a deep breath as my colleague hurried over, his hand brushing against the man who was slowly making his way toward me."Oh, sorry, sir!" my colleague said, but the man only smirked in response."Scar..." he began to say my name, but I interrupted him, my jaw dropping in disbelief. "What’s with that look?" he asked."Nothing, it’s not your concern."He shrugged, opened the door, grabbed the cake posh, and walked away. I stepped back, wanting to avoid any connection. If he was indeed supernatural, he might sense m
Chapter 1Scarlett POV I practiced swinging my staff with a few quick movements, relishing the sensation of manipulating metals as a means to concentrate without distractions. As I took in the metals surrounding me, my Aura pulsed strongly within my chest. With a quick motion, I hurled the metals into the swimming pool of the abandoned warehouse that served as my refuge.I am Scarlett, the last mutant and werewolf following the rogue-led third-world invasion. I've been in hiding for years, and I despise interruptions... My thoughts drifted as the metals, previously floating in the air, suddenly plummeted to the ground. I couldn't dodge the heavy iron pieces crashing down on me, nor could I shift into my wolf form for safety. "What on earth is happening?" I shouted, shielding my head with my arms. My eyes widened in horror, realizing that each falling piece could seriously harm an ordinary human.A few minutes later, I entered the kitchen, scanning for something easy to prepare when s
Chapter 2Present time Markus pov"I'll take two slot cards for the game, please," I said to Melissa, who was managing the game cards.Melissa raised an eyebrow, eyeing me with concern. "You're here without Scarlett? Are you sure everything is okay? Did you two have another fight?"She rummaged through her worn leather bag, tied around her waist, as she spoke. The mention of Scarlett's name brought up memories of our past, and I felt a low growl rising in my throat. It had been months since I last saw her, but the wound still felt raw."Can I have my slot card, Melissa? I don't want to miss out on any of the games," I said.Melissa's expression turned hostile. "Fine, take it! You're desperate to break free from your shackles. I can't stand sluggish men like you," she snapped, tossing the card at me with force. Her words cut deep, and I felt a shiver run down my spine as she added, "Poor fucking werewolf."My eyes locked onto hers, and I nodded curtly. "How did you know I'm a werewol
Chapter 3Markus pov“ Scarlett, I've missed you so much," I whispered, my eyes gazing lovingly at the figure before me. Her gentle touch sent shivers down my spine as she tickled my ribs, leaving me giggling helplessly."What are you doing to me?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, as her cold hands sent waves of pleasure through my body. I trailed off, my head spinning with delight, as I succumbed to the sensation of her presence. Her gentle movements left me breathless, and I couldn't help but moan softly, my fingers clutching the bed sheets as I lost myself in the moment."Is it just magic?" she whispered, her voice barely audible. I felt her hands wander down my body, sending shivers down my spine. Her gentle touch ignited a fire within me, and I had to suppress a moan of pleasure.Despite the intensity of the moment, I remained composed, closing my eyes to fully immerse myself in the sensation. Her hands moved with a gentle expertise, leaving me breathless and wanting mor
Chapter 4Scarlett pov"I'd prefer a real drink, not this bubbly stuff," I told the bartender, my tone firm. Just then, a gruff voice beside me spoke up, "Scarlett is your go-to, what's with the rejection?" I felt a sudden itch in my throat, urging me to lash out, but instead, a loud, uncharacteristic belch escaped my lips, filling the room and drawing curious glances from nearby patrons. "Excuse me," I said calmly, my voice laced with genuine apology."Ah, we're used to that from you!" someone in the crowd quipped, prompting a burst of laughter at my expense. I shot back, "Yeah, that's because I'm an ass!" - a retort that only seemed to amuse them further. Realizing I'd said too much, I hastily grabbed my jacket from the bartender's counter and made a swift exit, slamming the wooden door behind me. The door's cheerful Christmas bell above it seemed jarringly out of place as I emerged into the bright sunlight, which hit me like a slap in the face."City bound?" the Uber driver asked,
