SHE SAW MY TRANSFORMATION

Chapter 8

Scarlett pov

It's a new week, and it's time to get ready for work. Marina landed me a sales position at a supermarket to hold me over until she can find something better in an office. I realize that's just a dream for someone like me, who feels uneducated and out of place.

I was still rolling around in bed, completely naked. My hands sluggishly reached for the duck-shaped alarm clock, struggling to silence it. With a heavy sigh, I glanced at the main wall clock, blinking in disbelief at the time.

"Crap!" I shouted, quickly swinging my legs off the bed. A sharp pain shot through me as my skin pinched. What was that? I wondered, gently probing the mattress with my hands.

My heart raced as I rubbed the sore spot. I then shuffled to the wardrobe to slip into a revealing dress. My stomach growled, and I felt lightheaded as I stumbled toward the wardrobe, my legs moving without much thought.

"Scarlett! It's time for work; the bus for store staff is here," Marina called from the hallway, pacing back and forth. She knocked on my door with enough force to rattle it. "Scarlett, did you hear me? Your..." she paused, hissing in frustration, and I stayed silent inside the wardrobe.

It felt like a long day had already passed, even though I had just woken up. I approached the door, leaned against it, and rested my hands on the doorknob.

Looking through the peephole, I saw that the area was clear. I couldn't go a day without practicing, and now it had been three days since I last checked on my spiritual abilities.

My gaze shifted to the standing mirror with a pink frame. The metallic floral design caught my attention, making my heart race.

It felt like a subtle transformation, almost like a mutant. I sensed a stirring in my stomach, a sign that my wolf was awakening within me, igniting my transformation.

As I peered into the mirror, my gaze was drawn to the intricate metallic flower pattern, igniting a familiar fire within me. My pulse raced, and my senses heightened. I could feel the wolf within me, eager to emerge.

I inhaled deeply, attempting to steady my nerves. I couldn’t allow the transformation to take place now, especially not before heading to work. But it was already too late. The change had begun, and I could sense my body starting to morph.

My hands shook as I clutched the door handle, desperately trying to maintain my human form. Yet, it was futile. The transformation surged through me, and I felt my body twisting and reshaping.

A soft whimper escaped my lips as my limbs retracted and my senses intensified. My skin prickled as fur erupted from my pores, and my face elongated into a snout.

I was no longer a person. I had become a wolf.

I glanced back at the mirror, where a pair of fierce yellow eyes met my own. I let out a low growl, attempting to regain my composure.

But as I surveyed the room, panic set in. I couldn’t let Marina witness this. I needed to find a way to master my transformations and keep my secret safe.

I crept quietly out of the room, desperate to find a way to slip away unnoticed. However, as I stepped into the corridor, Marina's voice rang out, unmistakably clear.

"Scarlett, where are you? The bus is waiting!”

No! I can't transform into a wolf right now. I dashed back to my bed, my tongue flicking out as I inhaled and exhaled, my eyes flashing a menacing yellow—a stark reminder that this transformation would last longer than just a minute. Did I really just say a minute?

"Scarlett!!"

“I’m not here!! You might want to grab some cookies and milk for breakfast; I made some for you, sweetheart!!”

Her voice echoed through the hallway. I heard every word, but I was too caught up in my struggle to regain control and reach her before she did something that could ruin everything. Suddenly, I heard footsteps drawing closer, and my eyes widened. In my animal form, I was still battling with my subconscious.

“Scarlett? Are you in there? You've been quiet all morning. Are you alright?” I stayed silent, hoping that the overly sweet lady wouldn’t decide to open the door.

My heart raced as I held my breath, watching Marina’s hand move toward the doorknob. I couldn’t let her see me like this; the thought alone made me cringe with embarrassment.

Just as her hand brushed the knob, I let out a low growl, attempting to warn her off. Instead, it came out more like a whimper, and I could feel her confusion.

"Scarlett, what's wrong? Why are you acting so weird today?" she asked, concern threading through her voice.

I stayed quiet, my gaze locked on the door, silently wishing she would just leave me be.

But Marina was persistent. She slowly turned the knob and pushed the door open, her eyes scanning the room.

And then she laid eyes on me.

Her expression morphed into pure shock, and she stumbled back, her hand darting to her mouth like it was a reflex.

"Oh my...Scarlett, what on earth happened to you?" she gasped, her voice shaking like a leaf in the wind.

“You're completely exposed and sprawled out on the floor. Are you alright? Do you need a trip to the ER?” she stammered, but thank the stars she didn’t catch me in my wolf form.

I fought to get up, my vision blurry as I tried to focus on her, and my heart dropped when I realized my claws were still out. Seriously, what the heck!

I was still sporting werewolf claws on my fingers, so I quickly tucked them behind me and managed to get to my feet.

“Oh my goodness! Werewolf claws!!”
