Scarlett pov

I won't overlook anything, especially when I'm hurt over a trivial argument. I lay in bed, listening to the morning birds singing their cheerful tunes.

"Good morning, Scarlett! Are you really not going to work?" Marian's voice rang out from the hallway.

"I'm not going, sweetheart. I've got terrible cramps," I replied, still lounging on my bed. The truth was, I needed to talk to Lexi; she had some explaining to do. I didn't want to involve Marian since she didn't know Markus or that I was married.

Lexi's place is just two doors down, so it’s a quick trip.

I threw off the covers and swung my legs over the edge of the bed, grimacing as a sharp pain shot through my abdomen. While cramps were a solid excuse to skip work, that wasn't my main reason for staying home. I had to confront Lexi.

"Marian, I’ll be okay. Just need to rest a bit," I called out, trying to sound as weak as possible.

"Okay, Scarlett. Hope you feel better soon!" Marian's voice faded as she left.

Joe pov Marian called.“Why is she calling? She shouldn't, as she's not supernatural. I don't want to hurt her; she's Jovia and innocent. I want to keep her safe; she should be your priority, Joe. I noticed the affection in your eyes when she reached out to you.” Alia said, looking at me with a grin. I couldn't grasp what she meant by affection.“Are you out of your mind? Why would you say I'm in love? I need to deliver that annoying Scarlett to whoever sent me for her, and you're talking about love?” I snapped, throwing two round balls into the air.“Come on, Joe, I saw the way you looked at her. You have feelings for Marian. When she accidentally touched you, I used my magic to pick up on it.”“Trust me, after your morning coffee, you'll see what love is.”She teased, stirring the bowl of flour on the table.I shot a glare at Alia, my eyes narrowing. "What’s wrong with you? I'm focused on returning Scarlett, not getting caught up in romance." I caught the balls and threw them again,

Scarlett pov“Why didn't you tell me about all this stress?”“Who is Klaus that you can't share with me?”“Please talk to me,” I insisted, but Lexi remained silent, lost in her tears. Her eyes were red and puffy.“I am a werewolf, tasked with bringing you to Klaus. The first skinwalker, that idiot, was supposed to do it but failed when he killed the driver taking you home one night.” Her words sent chills through me.I realized who she meant. The guy in the hoodie who had been stalking me for months, making me feel like I was losing my mind. Anger surged within me.“What does Klaus want?” I said, my fist tightening around her trembling hand.“Scarlett, you need to stay away from him. He’s more dangerous than you can imagine.”My mind raced, trying to absorb the bombshell Lexi had just dropped. Klaus echoed in my thoughts, sending a chill down my spine. The hoodie guy had been tormenting me, pushing me to the edge of sanity."Who is Klaus?" I demanded, my voice trembling with fear and

Lexi pov I had never imagined Scarlett greeting me with such a warm embrace. Tears flowed down my face as I watched her, focused on preparing food in the kitchen, her attention unwavering and resolute."Scarlett, I'm truly sorry for anything I've done to hurt you," I said softly, my voice barely above a whisper, as I perched on the stool, my heart racing with anxiety. She turned to me, a smile breaking across her face. "Lexi, I'm not upset. We just need to eat to regain our strength."As Scarlett's warm smile enveloped me, I felt a lump in my throat. Her eyes sparkled like sapphires, radiating kindness with a playful glint, and I sensed she was trying to ease the tension."Gain strength for what?" I asked, my curiosity piqued, my voice still tinged with emotion.Without breaking her gaze, Scarlett set a steaming plate of food in front of me. The enticing aroma of roasted chicken and fresh herbs filled the air, making my stomach rumble."For the conversation we need to have," she said

I slipped my hands into the pockets of my joggers, feeling my heart race as I flicked my ponytail.Emerging into the fresh afternoon air, the sun's warmth felt like a much-needed escape from the oppressive memories trapped within my home. Marian povI heard the doorbell ringing like it was auditioning for a role in a horror movie. But honestly, I was too into my film to care. Who the heck is knocking? I thought, shooting a glare at the door, still not feeling like getting up. No way am I moving for whoever that is. I let out a heavy sigh, my heart racing with all the possibilities. Slowly, I shuffled to the door and peeked through the peephole. Surprise, surprise—it’s Katherine.“What on earth is she doing here?”I wondered, especially after she had a fling with my boyfriend, Nyx. I took another look and noticed a guy with her. Who is he? I’ve never seen Katherine with a man before.I stood there, frozen, my eyes glued to the peephole as Katherine looked expectantly at the door. Who was this dude next to her? A wave of unease washed over me. Did she really bring her new guy to flaunt it in front of me?My hand lingered on the doorknob, but my curiosity won. I swung the door open, keeping my face as blank as possible."

Scarlett pov“What’s the point of this Lexi? An arrow and a bowl? For a fight? Seriously, I can’t use this ancient junk to battle! You said Klaus is a dangerous werewolf, so why the arrows?” I asked, totally baffled, as she packed them up like it was no big deal. Her hand shook, and I couldn’t figure out what scared her. I promised to protect her for my husband; I can’t let his only sister walk into danger. I yanked Lexi up, and her eyes were filled with tears. I felt my own eyes start to water. I wrapped her in a hug, gently rubbing her back.As I held Lexi tight, her shaking body melted against mine, pouring out her sadness. I could feel her tears soaking my shirt, and it made my heart ache. I knew I had to be her rock.“Lexi, what’s happening?” I whispered, my voice barely cutting through the thumping of my heart. She pulled back, her eyes puffy and red, looking at me with a mix of fear and resolve. “I have to do this, Scarlett. I need to keep you safe from Klaus.”“Safe from Klau

Markus povI was still spinning on my bed when my phone buzzed three times like a morning alarm.Who could that be? I wondered, grumpily turning toward the nightstand. I fumbled for my phone and, upon seeing the sender's name, nearly shouted. Scarlett? It had been ages since my wife Scarlett reached out. What could be wrong? I glanced at the message. Call me. Scarlett pov“Markus, you need to hear me out.”I spoke softly, trying to mask my uncertainty. I couldn't grasp the pain of losing someone I care about. Whether it's Lexi, Markus, or anyone else Klaus targets, it terrifies me. "I have to mess things up," I murmured, settling onto his couch while he continued to study the map. He looked up at me. "What's wrong? What do you want me to do with this map?" he asked casually, sipping his drink as if it didn't matter.Frustration surged within me as I watched him so absorbed in his drink.I shot a glare at Markus, my eyes filled with anger. "What's wrong?" I echoed, my voice low and sharp. "You really need to ask? You're there, enjoying your drink like nothing's happening, while Klaus is out there threatening to take everyone we love."Markus maintained his composure, but a slight smirk appeared on his face. "And what do you suggest we do, Lexi?" he replied, his voice laced with sarcasm. "Charge into Klaus's lair, guns drawn, and demand he l

Scarlett's POV:Tears cascaded down my face as I gazed through the narrow, barred window of my prison cell. The view outside was a hazy mix of water and sky, the entire landscape engulfed, with no land in sight. The magnitude of my situation was beyond my comprehension. A prison submerged beneath the waves, where the horizon seemed to stretch infinitely, and everything I cherished had vanished beneath the surface. How did I end up in this place? How did my life devolve into such a nightmare? My heart raced as I wiped away the tears, my fingers quivering as they brushed against my damp cheeks. The chill from the window bit into my skin, yet it paled in comparison to the deep ache within me—the longing for freedom, for hope, for an escape. The thought of remaining in this submerged prison had never crossed my mind. Yet, here I was, confined in a cell, feeling as if the very water surrounding me was closing in, threatening to engulf me entirely.I allowed my body to slide down against th

Scarlett povThe frigid air struck my skin sharply as the guards pushed me through the cramped prison hallways. My muscles tightened, adrenaline coursing through me as I fought to control my breathing. I sensed Blackwood's menacing presence just behind me, like a hunter relishing the scent of its quarry. Each step reminded me of the torment awaiting me. I had been in this place before, but the circumstances were now altered. This time, I wasn’t merely a captive; I was a target they aimed to shatter."You'll regret crossing me, Scarlett," Blackwood hissed, his voice low and filled with malice. A chill ran down my spine, but I refused to give him the satisfaction of revealing my fear.I smirked, keeping my voice calm despite the cold seeping into my bones. “You really think I’m afraid of you? You clearly don’t know me, Blackwood.”He halted, his footsteps reverberating in the stillness of the corridor. I could feel his cold, calculating gaze on the back of my head. “Oh, I know enough. Y

Scarlett pov It was time for the usual daily bath. For us prisoners, bathing together in the communal bathroom was just part of the routine. I gathered my soap and other essentials, wiping my dusty face with a towel. As I made my way down the hall, I sensed something was different. Women were gathered, towels wrapped around them. My heart raced as I calculated my steps toward the scene. What was happening? That question echoed in my mind. "Hey Scarlett, hurry up or you'll face the consequences!" a sharp soprano voice called from behind, pushing me to move faster. I quickened my pace, my heart pounding with unease. The usual sounds of chatter and laughter were replaced by an unsettling quiet. I tightened my towel around me, the rough fabric irritating my skin as I continued. As I neared the bathroom, I noticed the door was slightly open, a beam of light spilling out and creating an eerie glow on the floor. I pushed the door open and scanned the room for clues about the situatio

Marian pov I gathered my things, preparing to head to work, feeling the heaviness of loneliness and anxiety in my chest. I ignored the noisy fridge, too consumed by the reality that everyone I cared about had left. Scarlett and Finn were no longer part of my life. As I stood there, caught in my morning routine, the burden of solitude felt overwhelming. Scarlett and Finn had filled my days with joy and laughter, and now their absence echoed painfully in the silence. I inhaled deeply, attempting to dispel the emptiness that had taken root inside me. I needed to get to work; I couldn't allow my personal struggles to interfere with my duties. I finished dressing, my actions automatic as I went through the steps. I picked up my bag and moved toward the door, but a wave of anxiety washed over me as I reached for the handle. What if I couldn't manage this? What if facing the day without Scarlett and Finn was too much? I dismissed those thoughts, reminding myself that I had overcome

I could already sense his fury at the news that the one woman he tasked me with finding was still missing. I was certain he would kill me for this failure. As I pushed through the heavy wooden doors, the eerie creaking resonated in the empty hallway, reflecting the dread that gripped my chest. My heart felt like it was being crushed, each beat a reminder of the reckoning that awaited me.I had let Klaus down. The burden of that failure weighed heavily on me, threatening to suffocate me. Scarlett, the person he had entrusted to me, was still out there, and I was the one who would face the repercussions.Approaching Klaus's study, I felt my palms grow clammy. My mind raced, trying to find a way to present my failure in a less deadly light. But deep down, I knew it was pointless. Scarlett povThe door to my prison ward swung open for the first time in weeks, and the sight of daylight filled me with a surge of joy.As I emerged from the grim cell, the warm sunlight enveloped my face, its golden rays rejuvenating my weary spirit. It felt as though the universe was welcoming me back to life. I closed my eyes, tilted my head back, and allowed the light to embrace me, igniting a flicker of hope deep within. The sound of rustling clothes and soft voices pulled me back to the present. I opened my eyes to see a group of women in worn uniforms, their expressions a blend of curiosity and caution. I recognized that look; it mirrored my own reflection from the past weeks.A small woman with a messy bob and a scar above her left eyebrow stepped forward.
