" What did you say?" Gerald asked, His low voice cutting through the silence of the room. John took a deep breath and continued with his explanation. He told Gerald that the cigarette had a toxic poison which once ingested, leads to chronic coughing and eventually, death. Gerald listened to his explanation, growing more confused. " So, you're telling me, Thomas didn't die of natural causes but someone tried to kill him?" He asked and john nodded. Burrowing his brows, he thought about it for a while. A lot of things didn't make sense to him. Why would someone want to kill Thomas and why? Who was it? He really needs to pay that police station another visit. " Okay, I've heard you. You're dismissed." Gerald muttered with a wave of his hand. John bowed and left. Straightening on seat, he palmed his throbbing head. Scarlett awoke from her slumber, groaning as she stirred. She blinked her eyes open, the blurriness fading away. Her lips twitched but didn't quite form a smile as she remembered the night before.
