JACKSON'S POV

I could feel the anger tightening my muscles as I made my way to Gina’s quarters. Elise’s words from earlier echoed in my mind. She had insisted that Gina knew more than she was letting on, and every instinct in my body told me that Elise was right.

I clenched my fists as I approached the door. I needed answers. I needed the truth.

I pushed the door open, not bothering to knock. Why would I?

Gina was standing by the window, her back to me, gazing out as if she hadn’t heard me come in. Her posture was relaxed.

“Gina,” I said, trying to keep my anger in check.

She turned slowly, her face lighting up in a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.

“HI honey. You're back,” she greeted “What brings you here? Do we have plans now?”

I didn’t have the patience for her games today.

“I spoke with Elise,” I began, watching her face carefully for any reaction. “She said you’ve been keeping things from me.”
