Chapter Four

Lisa's POV

I entered the taxi and he started driving slowly, a man stopped him and also got into the taxi.

"Have you heard the latest news?" He asked the driver, I felt it was abnormal and highly bad to chat in a taxi because I couldn't do it, I hated it.

"I knew someone would bring up this topic and I'm excited, I'm just happy because people are seeing the type of man they voted as the best event planner in the Flutopia awards." The driver replied.

"What news?" I asked, I couldn't even stop myself, I wanted to hear the full gist.

"Aren't you in New York?" He asked rudely and I stared at him. "An old lady just fainted a few minutes ago, a billionaire splashed mud on her dress and she went to report to the cops, she fainted there, the internet is buzzing with news." He said and I frowned.

"It's the woman's fault, it must have been a mistake and she should have gotten over it, reporting to the cops was highly unnecessary." I replied and he brought out his phone and handed it to me.

"Ma'am, this woman is just a poor woman trying to leave her life, she's just a woman trying to survive, Mr Douglas revealed her identity as Mrs Kendrick." He said and my heart skipped a beat for a second.

Why did the name sound familiar? I looked at the picture on his phone and my heart raced. I almost screamed as I covered my mouth in shock. It was my mom.

I opened the car door and stepped out the car, I stopped a bike quickly. "Mauritius Hospital." I told him and he nodded, I climbed the bike and he drove off.

Alex's POV

"How's her condition?" I asked the doctor.

"She has not yet opened her eyes, she experienced serious shock and a cardiac arrest, we're doing everything to make her stable." He answered and I frowned.

"Look, if the press comes here, I'll deal with you, I'll kill you and you know that, if she's not waking up, get rid of her." I whispered and his eyes widened.

"I can't do that, she's an old lady." He reminded me.

"Should I do it then?" I asked.

"I can't kill my patient." He answered.

"Dr Johnson, if the press comes here, everything is going to be worse, totally everything, there's no way I can fix this, that's why you need to kill her." I said angrily, losing my temper.

"Sir, I killed the last person because of my sister's child, I'm not going to kill anyone again, it's my duty to save not kill." 

"If you can't do it, I will." I said and walked into the room.

Suddenly, a lady also ran in, she didn't look at me, she just ran to hug the woman. She had started crying and brought her face up to look at me.

"You bastard." She muttered and looked at me. She pushed me to the floor and hit me on my face, I kicked her stomach and reached out for my gun in my back pocket. Before I could fire a shot at her, she kicked my leg and I groaned in pain, the gun falling down to the floor.

I grabbed her and we fell to the floor, she picked up the gun and pointed it at me. I looked at her in shock, I was surprised how a woman could overpower me and was also skilled in martial arts.

The cops came immediately and found her pointing a gun at me, I smiled, she fearfully dropped the gun but it was too late, the first man held her hands and brought her down to her knees.

"You don't have to arrest her, I really understand her pain." I lied. If they had arrested her, I wouldn't gain and I wouldn't lose.

"Are you sure, Mr Alex?" The other officer asked and I nodded, they left the ward after grabbing the gun from her hand.

I looked at me and she looked at me back in disbelief. "Why did you do that?" She asked standing up.

"I love your skills, you're one out of skillful female fighters." I answered and she ignored me and went straight to her mom who was still unconscious.

"What did you do to her?" She asked angrily.

"Absolutely nothing, the doctor said she had a cardiac arrest and she experienced seizure." I answered.

"It's all your fault, once the press gets here, I'm going to reveal everything to them," She said and looked at me. "I'm going to tell them that you're a son of a bitch, you're nothing but a useless gangster and fashion designer, Mr Alex, I don't even know why I submitted my credentials in your company for a job." She added angrily.

James did talk of his girlfriend who submitted her credentials. LISA KENDRICK! "So you're Lisa Kendrick?" I asked.

"Yes but don't think I'll still come and work with you after what you've done to my mother." She answered.

"Actually, you don't have a choice, look at this, if you tell the press everything and confirm that I actually caused all of these, your mom would be dead in seconds." He warned and my eyes widened.

"What are you insinuating?" She asked, I could hear the fear in her voice. Of course, I had found her weakness.

"If you tell them the truth, I go to jail, you lose your mom, if I come out of jail," I said and paused. "I'll kill you." I added before the door opened and my doctor walked in.

"Miss Lisa, the press are waiting for you outside to give a report of what happened." He told her and looked at me.

I smiled back at him and she looked at me before going outside. "Mr Alex, what do you think? Is she going to expose you?" He asked.

I ignored his question and walked out, I couldn't count the number of people outside the ward. They were asking different questions but Lisa stayed silent.

"What happened Miss Lisa?" One of the media reporter asked.
