— Leia Steele —

It wasn’t supposed to be like this. I was supposed to fight the Dark Alpha, supposed to defend the girls and I. Katja, my closest friend, I was supposed to avenge her.

Oh my god, where did it all go wrong? What have I done?

“That’s— that’s not what happened! I didn’t lie!” I said, trying to defend myself.

I wasn’t sure if I was doing that, or just consoling myself, making me believe that I was still a good person amidst all of this.

“Then what the hell are you doing here? Tell me what happened on that night you came in here!” Jane demanded, her voice much louder now.

It was a really good thing this place was soundproof because if anybody heard her from outside, I would be scared of what they would do to Jane.

I let out a disgruntled sigh as I wracked my brain trying to figure out how to tell her because even I couldn’t believe it myself.

I still remember exactly what happened. How I was staring at my friend’s cold and lifeless body, and then the next… the Dark Alpha w

    — Leia Steele —“Whoa, whoa, where do you think you’re going?” Beta Calypso asks as he stalks after me.I’m half walking half sprinting down the hallway when I realized that I actually have no idea where I am headed. I just know that I need to see Viktor and talk to him right freaking now.I stopped, and turned around to face Beta Calypso. “Where is he?” I asked with a straight face.I was fully aware that people around us in the hallway were starting to get curious, but tried their best not to seem like it, probably in fear of being shouted out by the Beta.It doesn’t matter, though. Hell, nothing matters at this point because right now, Jane just found out the entire truth, as well as me finding out that I’m about to become the Luna of the exact freaking psycho that all the other girls and I have wished dead for so many months, and there is nothing, absolutely nothing more insane than that.“Who?” He says in a nonchalant manner. The man has the audacity to act like he doesn’t know h

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 31: One Word

    — Leia Steele —Being with the Dark Alpha every single night for the past week has been a whirlwind of emotions. It was hard to explain exactly just how it was like to be with a man of such caliber. Everybody bowed and shut their mouths whenever we passed or even more surreal, they followed whatever we asked or said, no matter how ridiculous it was. For example, I mentioned to Viktor how I have never tried this rare fruit called wolfberries. They were only found in specific places, cold areas, and were hard to obtain if not in season. Two days later though, I woke up to find a basket of them right on my bedside table. Let’s just say I had more than enough, probably more than anybody could ever have in an entire lifetime.Things were… blissful. At least, most of the time it seemed like it, but the other times? I wasn’t so sure…‘Don’t stop, Leia! Destroy them! Don’t fucking stop until they’re nothing but pieces!’ I heard Viktor’s command in my head as I was on top of two rogues. It w

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 32: Keeping Secrets

    — Viktor Morgenstar —It’s been more than a week since Leia came into my life, or to be more specific, into my room and that was when I realized who she really was. That night was one that inevitably changed the course of many things, and sometimes I still find myself wondering what it would be like now if she hadn’t come in and I wouldn’t have known. But it is never more than just a fleeting second because every time, I only need to turn to my side and find her there, and immediately, nothing else matters. It didn’t take long for the Pack to get used to the new dynamics around the place, and although there were some… minor issues, such as one or two Pack members not appreciative of the fact that a girl that was once a slave was now higher in rank than them, they were all easily taken care of thanks to a nice little thing called power. Soon, in a few days time, Leia was going to become my Luna, and nothing could ever beat me, us, or my Pack ever again because once two Dark Shadows c

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 33: Bloodied Hands

    — Leia Steele —I knew he was lying. It was so obviously painful that he wasn’t telling me the truth and I really, really hated that. I hated him as well for choosing to lie to me, but most of all, I hated myself for just letting it all go. Why didn’t I stand my ground and push for him to tell me the truth? Why did I just smile and agree with him? What the hell is wrong with me?I’m practically halfway to pulling all the hair out of my head from frustration as I walked down the hallway when I heard a noise come from a few feet away from me. I turned to my left to the golden clock that hung on the well in order to check the time, making sure that it was definitely morning, and there was no way Viktor would still be out. Half past six. The sun wouldn’t be as bright yet, but nonetheless, a small bit of light would still affect him, so it couldn’t be possible he was around here. Aside from that, most of the Pack members would be busy getting ready for their morning run and then their f

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 34: Death Wish

    — Leia Steele — I suppose I was expecting the two to give me a look, but what I wasn’t expecting was just how… bewildered they would stare at me after I said what I wanted to say. They both blinked at me like I had gone insane for a few seconds, until Cane finally spoke.”You’ve got a death wish?” “No, but you do, if you don’t do as I say.” Cane scoffed. “Little girl. The Dark Alpha would kill me before you could.” I flinched at his words.I can’t say I didn’t think about the possible repercussions my plan would have, and how terrible it will backfire on me and everyone else involved, but at the same time, the thought of the girls suffering even worse as each day passed was overpowering everything else.I needed to do something, even if it means shedding my own blood, should the Dark Alpha see it fit.“Look,” Cal stepped up. “You’re not thinking this through, alright? You’re not the only one that’s going to get into a shit ton of trouble if we do something as crazy as releasing hi

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 35: His Nightmare

    — Viktor Morgenstar — The rain was loud and continuous and heavy clouds loomed over the forest, covering every inch in darkness that not even the moonlight could counter. To my right, I hear the sounds of rustling. Even with all the thunder, my sense of hearing is still sharp.Quickly, I turned, and at that exact second, something lunges towards me.Or rather, someone. It is big, almost my size, which of course says a lot. I have never met anyone that came close to my size. What’s even more shocking was that it had strength enough to shove me on to the ground.I growled in anger before shoving it off me. Who dares to defy me? Do they want to die?It was hard to make out what kind of wolf I was fighting as my vision was both dark and blurry, but I knew it was not one of my own. They didn’t stop. The wolf doesn’t pause for one second before it tries to overpower me again by going for my legs.Whoever this was, it was determined and it seems to me like it had an end goal. What was it?

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 36: Finding Freedom

    — Leia Steele —I’ve been running non-stop for hours now, trying to get to every floor, every room, and every corner where there could possibly still be girls.I can’t miss one. If I do, I’ll never be able to forgive myself knowing that once they are all out of here free, one of them will have to take the blame, and I can’t imagine what kind of horror she would have to face because of that.“Hey! You!” I shouted out to a girl in dirty clothes that was scrubbing toilets by the dining hall. She swiftly turned her head and looked at me terrified. It’s clear she must have thought I was one of those awful people from the Shadow Claws who would no doubt berate her if she even tries to mess up.“M— me?” She stutters while holding on to the cleaning brush tightly.“Yes, you. I promise I’m not here to hurt you. I’m here to help you.” I said in order to reassure her before rushing to the stall she was in.“Help me? What do you mean? Who— who are you?” She looks at me up and down with obvious co

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 37: Breaking Point

    — Leia Steele — There is only darkness tonight. The Moon Goddess hasn’t appeared, hidden behind terrifying and large shady clouds that not even her light is able to guide us out of here.I looked away from the night sky, forcing myself to focus on what was happening right now, and to remember that I need to do the best I can to get these girls out of here no matter the situation that arises.“Where the hell are we?!” One girl cried out in frustration, and two others followed right after, and then more, and more.Everybody was getting iffy, but that was to be expected. We’d been walking for almost an hour now. I can imagine how tired their legs were and maybe how hungry they all were, too. I asked a few girls to bring food, but it wasn’t enough for all of them to fill them up. I thought that by this time or less we would be getting nearer the border, but I must have miscalculated. Shit! “Leia… the girls, they’re—“ “I know,” I cut off Jane. I gave her a stern look, making her lower

    — Zane Frost — I hadn’t heard that voice for a while now and it did sound like it could have gotten a bit deeper than before, but I could still distinguish it. Sure enough, when the door swung open, he was all smiles standing in the hallway. Boy, I was not expecting him to have gotten even bigger than he was already before and did he grow a little stubble, too? “I’m back! Surprise!” Skye looked at us beaming excitedly. “Oh, Zane’s here, too! Great! I thought I was going to arrive tomorrow morning, but the journey ended up being a little faster than I thought so— wait a second…” He paused and that’s when I know he finally realized that it wasn’t just me that was also there. “Who… is she?” He blinked at her intrigued. “Well, this is definitely one homecoming I didn’t see coming…” I said with a soft chuckle to lighten up the mood but that didn’t really help. River let out a sigh before confessing to his brother. “This is Eva… my mate.” “Holy. Shit.” Skye reacted in

  • Running With His Heir   Epilogue Part One

    — Zane Frost — Preparations had been going on for a couple of weeks now. Everybody was excited for Skye’s sudden announcement that he was coming back earlier than usual. Even if I hounded him for more information, that boy was like a vault and he didn’t open up, not even to Leia who was itching to know what had made him suddenly want to come back. “What do you think he meant by ‘big news’?” Leia asked as we were in the kitchen, gathering ingredients to make all the dishes we knew everybody, especially Skye, would love. Usually we would leave the Pack chefs in charge of this, but since Leia was having this phase where she wanted to cook anything and everything, I wanted to be there and help her out. “I don’t know. Anything is possible with that guy.” I honestly answered with a shoulder shrug as I passed her the sifted flour she asked for. We were making various baked goods, but first one on the list was skolebrød, which was a bun filled with a gooey and delicious vanilla c

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 83: One True Mate

    — Viktor Morgenstar — Before I jumped into that water, I thought it was the only way to preserve what little I had left in my life. In my mind, it was better to die than to live another day without Leia and our baby. I believed I was as good as dead. Until I got washed away onto land and I took another breath. It was hard to explain exactly what that felt like, but what was worse was having to watch the only love you have ever known get pulled away by somebody else and the baby you desperately wanted cared for men you had no idea of. My Dark Shadow screamed and screamed for me to get them back and though every part of me wanted the same as well, I knew that I no longer deserved them. For the first time in my life, I realized that what I wanted isn’t something that I am always supposed to have. After I knew that Leia and the baby were safe, I knew what I had to do. I had to leave and somehow, in some way, I had to become better. Not just for the family that I lost,

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 82: Two Letters

    — Leia Steele — I have heard and read about countless experiences, many good, many bad, about the newborn stage, but nothing, absolutely nothing can compare to when you are experiencing it yourself. Luckily for me, the phrase ‘it takes a village’ is definitely in effect with the White Howlers. There hasn’t been a minute that I’ve been completely alone with Lux and I couldn’t ask for anything else. Whether it’s Keira offering to help me breastfeed since I was obviously new in all of this and my body was still somewhat recovering thus producing less than ideal, or Skye and the other boys more than happily entertaining him during tummy time with all sorts of antics, or even the usually stoic Alpha Titus excitedly playing with Lux and Zora, his and Keira’s baby girl, everybody has been an absolute gem every single day. But of course, only one person has truly never left my side, and that is— “Zane Frost!” I heard a very passionate squeal on the other side of the door where

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 81: Our Baby

    — Leia Steele — I woke up feeling somewhat… amazing, which is a completely baffling thing because as far as I can recall, I just fell off a cliff and dove into water while I was bleeding to death. How the hell does it feel like my body is completely healed? Or the fact that I even woke up because I could have sworn I thought I wasn’t going to make it out of there alive? Or wait… I sat up from the bed and frantically began to look around and take in my surroundings, trying to figure out where I was. Maybe I am dead?! “I can see from the very astounded expression on your face right now that you think you’ve somehow woken up in another space or timeline.” I turned to where the sound came from and saw a beaming familiar face. “Skye!” I couldn’t help but squeal his name out of pure happiness to see him, and he looks good at that. “Hey, tough one. Glad to see you’re doing good. No pain, right?” He asked as he walked over to sit on the chair next to me. I noticed tha

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 80: Before/After

(Two Years Later) — Zane Frost — I am seated at the edge of the lake. The very spot I always find myself in whenever I go here. I don’t know why, but my body just somewhat gravitates to this place every single time without fail. Even now when seeing the sight of water still triggers a memory in me, I still stay here. My eyes closed as I laid down on the grass. Winter has gone, exchanged for Spring, and all the snow has melted, replaced with flowers of different colors that had bloomed a new life. A new life, it repeated in my head. That is what Spring is; the beginning of something new. Perhaps everyone, every single person in this world has had a moment that has split their life into two. When you look back at your days, there is something that changed you, some specific time that you know was cataclysmic to your entire existence. A moment that creates what happened before and what happened after. It shades your memories in a different perspective just as it shi

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 79: Free Fall

    — Leia Steele — “AAAAAAHHHHHH!” I screamed and screamed until it felt like my lungs were going to give out at any second. It was hard to focus on anything aside from the crippling pain that was coming from my belly but transmitting all throughout my entire body. Viktor had quickly pulled me out of the room where the coronation was happening and when I thought he was rushing me to the Pack’s infirmary, he turned a different way that I had no idea where it was leading to. “AAAAAAHHHHHH!” More screams come out of me and I swear it feels like somebody is ripping my belly open. The sound of commotion seems like it’s following us. Left and right I hear people screeching as well as things being destroyed to the ground as the earth itself shook. “Wh— what’s… h— happening…” I managed to get the words out of me as I squirmed in pain as Viktor carried me in his arms tightly. In my mind, I wished somebody else was holding onto me, but my body was a betrayer, lavishing in the

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 78: Awakened Vengeance

    — Zane Frost — I feel like absolute shit. Maybe that in itself is even an understatement because from my head to my toes, it’s like I’m being pushed onto the ground by twenty six-wheelers trucks. That is excluding the fact that my head feels like I’ve been pushed out of a plane and I’m currently twirling around and around fifty thousand feet up in the air. Holy shit. What the fuck is going on? “Zane? Zane! You’re awake?! Guys, he’s awake!” I heard a familiar voice shout out and I flinched in pain almost immediately. There was a loud echo in my ears and I thought my head was going to burst. “Shit, sorry,” the voice mumbled an apology. “Wr du hl m ei…” I tried to speak, but I doubt the letters that came out of my mouth could even form a single understandable word. My suspicions were proven correct when the person next to me burst out into a fit of laughter. If I had the energy to smack them, I would have done it, but alas, aside from being able to move my lips

  • Running With His Heir   Chapter 77: Monsters Bleed

    — Zane Frost — Chaos. Madness. Death. It was left and right. It was almost impossible to escape, but I kept pushing. I told myself that I had to. I knew I had to for her, for Leia, for Keira, for everybody in my Pack and Alpha Titus’. This was all our fight and we had to end this today. No matter what. As soon as anyone tried to come after me, I fought to kill. I don’t think about anything else, but to get the upper hand. The very first time you hesitate, there’s no coming back from that. I see the bloodthirst in their eyes and in the way they growl. These wolves are different. Whilst the White Howlers and Blazing Wolves were trained to mostly defend themselves from the enemies, these ones were trained to do no defending, only killing, like they were all raised to be killing machines. It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before, but I had to keep up with them if I had to get to Leia. When I saw her get dragged into that house out of nowhere, it was like a switch
