Rose bristled, her cheeks flushing a vibrant shade of crimson. “Don’t listen to her, Wil! She’s accusing me of being insane when, clearly, she had this all planned the moment she flew back to this place! She has your son at the palm of her hands—she wanted Grayson to believe he’s his mother and probably take you back,” she faced me. “That woman wants to take you back and your money because she can no longer afford to have her child enrolled in a decent school.”

“I never intentionally approached your son,” Kathryn made it clear. “It was all a coincidence. And maybe it was for the best, because no one would willingly report you to Wilhelm that you’re hurting his son.”

“She’s lying!”

Grayson glared at Rose. “Don’t call Mommy a liar!”

“Grayson, honey—” Rose tried, but Grayson refused to listen.
