Skye’s POV“Marco!?”I was keenly staring at his sleeping form. I did not want to even blink for fear of missing the moment that Marco would move or show any signs of waking up.Just a moment ago, I thought I saw Marco’s eyelids flutter. It was too slight, almost invisible. It made me think and agree with Doctor Shannon’s words that Marco’s signs of recovery, or the signs of waking up, aren’t very accurate to be declared and announced.“I have so many things to tell you, but I don’t want to do it when you are still in a coma. The thought that I will have to tell them all over again when you wake up is already tiring me, you know?” I whined helplessly. “Besides, I need you awake to tell
Matt’s POVI felt goosebumps all over me when Skye confirmed the man she was referring to be the same man I showed in the photo. When Skye said she was told about Marco’s condition, I could see the unshakable faith and belief she had in those words. I could tell Skye was not like other patients’ guardians who would flare up and go ballistics when they are pressured with the delayed results on medical tests. It may also be due to the obvious eagerness that I am exerting efforts, bending some rules and unmindful of whatever methods allowed and not, as long as it seems to lead me into a clarification of something that would help quicken Marco’s recovery– Skye is somehow confident that I am not slacking or intentionally making things go slow. Nevertheless, for whatever reasons she may have, I am thankful that she believes and trusts in my abilities. But now, hearing from her statements that someone told her Marco is not going to die in this condition, it made me feel less confident. It
Gab’s POVI hurriedly moved to check on Marco and see for myself if he was awake already. “Where?” I asked. I turned my gaze to look at Skye, then, to Matt. Seeing no answer from the two, I turned to look at Marco and spoke directly to him. “Hey, Macoy, buddy, we need you. When are you waking up?” I winked at Skye as I said those words. To my relief Skye winked back at me. “Yeah, that’s what I have been telling him,” Skye joined me in teasing Marco. “I really hope you guys are helping,” Matt blew a deep breath. “The patient might remain in his coma state due to the stress he is expected to face once he wakes up, you know?” “What?!” Skye exclaimed. “We are not going to send you anywhere or ask you to do anything,” she explained. “I just need to know you are here awake waiting when we get back, right Gab?”I quickly seconded her claims. “We just need to know you are safe. That is what I meant when I said we needed you, Macoy,” I added. I wasn’t lying when I said those words, but
Marco’s POVI was in the middle of war in the abyss when I felt a strong pull as if an energy was sucking me into an unseen whirlpool of wind. I don’t know if it was just another fighting ability or strategy I was not aware of, because my momentary disappearance seemed to help me escape my enemies’ attack and save myself from vanishing for eternity, as they said every being in this abyss does not die. Whether an evil or a good being, their ends do not undergo the process of death, they vanish into thin air like they never existed. Well, that is what happens exactly to the evil ones, because the good ones are believed to ascend into the skies and become stars that brightens the night along with the moon. I asked Israfel about what I have been through when we returned to the camp– if that is what they call the place where they train and stay if not in battle. And he was a bit confused. “Sorry, Marco, but I have never experienced such things. Not even once during or in the middle of b
Skye’s POVGab and I left home after a bit of emotional departing greetings. Uncle Goerge called and spoke to me directly to let us know they were safe and everything went through as planned. Now we have to secure my seat as Uncle Goerge’s successor while everything is still hot.“I am looking forward to hearing good news from you, Doctor Shannon,” I shook hands with Matt Shannon before entrusting Marco under his care again, while Gab and I were away.“You saw and heard him groan. I believe Marco would wake up sooner than I feared for,” Doctor Shannon assured me along with a firm handshake. He was right. Gab and I saw and heard Marco groan while we were in the patient’s room discussing our plans after I
Gab’s POVAfter making a lot of calls to make sure we did not miss anything on our plans, I went back into the house and even from the living room I could hear Skye’s excited voice as she asked if the other person with her in the patient's room saw whatever she saw.I assumed it was Matt she was talking to since they were in the room with Marco. I may not be a hundred percent sure what she was rejoicing about, but I had a guess. However, I realized that reality surpassed my expectations. I felt similarly close to Skye’s expressed enthusiasm when she said Marco could respond. It indeed was something worth celebrating.I was as reluctant to leave Marco’s side as Skye seemed to be. I understand her unspoken but clearly expressed eagerness to see Marco awake so we could properly sa
George’s POVI had been thinking how to make sure our savior girl, Skye, would be safe under our guard. Yes, she is a savior to us. Almira and I are still in awe at how everything has turned out ever since we met this girl. We had been hoping and earnestly yearning for a chance to live our remaining days in life anew before we bid goodbye to this life. But it had been years since we started planning on how to execute our ideas. To be honest, I have lost hope already. I admit, we don’t deserve such wishes to be granted judging from how we had foolishly lived our life during our youthful and prime years in life. But as Almira and I felt tired in our daily live’s routine, we woke up one day with different eyes that saw the beauty of the nature that surrounded us. We tried to change ways on how we do things, from the dirty old ones, we wanted to clean up and implement more humane rules for everyone under our wings, but many of our associates expressed resistance. Some were even blatant
Marco’s POV“Hi, there, sleepy head,” I heard a woman’s chirpy voice. I was sure it was a woman’s voice but I couldn’t clearly tell whom that voice belonged to. The sound I heard was echoing in my ears. I also tried to open my eyes and look around, but no matter how hard I did, I just get to blink them and my eyelids would shut down again. I still felt like I was in a whirlpool as it twirls around and made me float in the air. I tried to regain consciousness and step out of this vertiginous spinning sensation that I was having at the moment. “This is a sedative. You have to calm down, buddy,” this time a manly voice spoke instead of a female one that I heard earlier. I felt like a soft hand held me down and gently tapped me to calm down. The next thing I knew, I was drifting off to a serene sleep like my body was desperate to have that rest. I don’t know how long I have been asleep. But when it felt like I have had enough, my head was clear. I opened my eyes and I had no difficult
