She lost consciousness after that and when she woke up again, she was in severe pain, but her thighs were being caressed, by not one pair of hands.. but two. It was still dark, so she assumed she had passed out for only a few minutes or maybe hours.

Grace could not open her eyes, still. She was in so much pain and it was like her brain thought that opening her eyes to it would make things a lot worse.

".. I will go first. You can go for it after I have left my cum inside of her." A sinister laugh followed. Grace could not fully understand what they were talking about, but she managed to open her mouth and plead,

"Please, help me. I know you have no reason to, but please. I will pay you whatever amount." Her voice was hoarse and nearly unintelligible, but the men understood her. And they laughed at her.

"With what money? Whitney already took your settlement money.. or she is taking it as we speak. So tell me, how do you intend to pay us? And did you forget that you cannot ask your ex-husband? He was the one who asked us to kill you and your child, so forget about him." One of them, the driver, spoke.

Grace could not say anything else; she could feel her life slipping away from her every passing second. Even with her suffering, she struggled to believe that Vincent would do such a thing to hurt her. That the man she loved with every fiber of her being would kill her and her unborn child, just to be rid of her.

What exactly had he called to say, she wondered. Had he called to remind them to finish her off? Grace searched the floor for her phone, but there were no traces of it anymore. There were no traces of Whitney, either.

Her lower abdomen was on fire, her body was weak.. drained. She knew she was going to die. It was why one defeated tear streak rolled down her cheek even as her underwear was pulled down to her knees.

Her center was open, exposed to the eyes of both men who were practically salivating at the sight.

"Just rip it off, come on, we don't have time! The order was to make sure she is dead, then throw her body somewhere she cannot be found. We need to do it quickly, we cannot risk getting caught!" The guard reasoned, but the driver already had his pants down.

"If you want to leave, just get out. You whine too much."

Just as he tried to bring her closer by the hip and slip into her, a very bright light shone from a distance, and they both hurriedly stood, trying to drag her off the street but she was too heavy.

"I'll carry her." The driver whispered but they suddenly heard,

"Hey! Who is there?!"

And the guard took off first, holding up the waistband of his pants to keep the material from falling off as he had not had time to close it properly yet.

The driver dropped her with a thud when the cars were coming closer, and he bolted as well.

The headlights of the car flashed directly at the blood stained street and then when it moved closer, the light focused on a mangled, half-naked lady on the street.. bloodied and probably dead.

The owner of the car alighted anyway, and he ran to her. He cussed under his breath, seeing her state more closely now. As soon as he got to her side, he crouched down and took her wrist in his palm to check her pulse.

Nothing.

"Oh no, I was too late. No, no, no.." He lamented, studying her body which was now very pale and cold. He went for her neck next, and just as he wanted to take his palm off and give up, he felt something.

"Uncle, if the girl is dead, we should leave before we are blamed for something we have no hand in.. don't you think?" His nephew spoke from behind him, but Mr. Montego could not wait to tell him the good news.

"No, Kelvin! She is alive! A very faint pulse but it is something anyways. We have to save her. Go, open the back door, I will carry her to the car." He quickly picked the poor girl on his arms while Kelvin went to open the door.

She was immediately rushed to the emergency ward, and Mr. Montego, while standing outside was, of course, reassured by the money hungry doctor who certainly felt like he had hit the jackpot for having one of the biggest business moguls in America, in his hospital.

"We would do our best. I promise you that, Sir."

Combing through the white beards on his jaw with a very serious expression on his face, the old man nodded and waved the doctor off with a hand.

Kelvin sighed, "Your big heart might get you in trouble one of these days, Uncle."

"Then so be it. She is a little girl. She does not deserve what those cannibals put her through. She does not deserve death."

"And what if she does?"

Mr Montego was the one to sigh now, "I doubt it. But if that is the case, then proper measures will be carried out." And then they waited.

Unfortunately, Grace was in coma for weeks. Kelvin had almost completely forgotten about her until he was asked to personally check on her by his uncle. He was shocked to see her eyes open, bloodshot, and stained with tears.

He ran up to her and placed his hands on the bed awkwardly as he watched her. "Hey.. hey.. you are okay. Come on, wipe those tears."

After a moment of silence and caressing her arm for comfort, Kelvin asked, "What is your name, beautiful?"

When she finally opened her mouth to speak, she could only mutter six words, "My name is Grace. And I need revenge."

_____________

"The cheque is gone, her room is cleared. I figured you would know where she went off to." Vincent asked his brother, his face set in a frown. He had been calling Grace for hours, and even if he hated to admit it; he was mad with worry at that point.

"She sent me a text, which is strange. She said goodbye to me over a text. You won, Vince, you finally sent her away. Are you happy now?" Simon emphasized, and after a heated back and forth, a voice stopped them,

"She's dead."

They both turned to Da'ana, "What?"

"She tried to escape because she did not want to do the test. She thought you would believe her straight away, but on her way to the airport, she got an accident and she died. Body was burned beyond recognition." She stepped forward and showed them pictures. It was his car, her clothes.. burned badly too.

Vincent could not breathe. But a part of him could not believe the news too. He stormed out of the room before he would do anything stupid.

What had he done to her? How could she just.. die?

But maybe, he thought as he wrecked his office.. maybe it was best he believed the story and tucked her as far away from his mind as he should. Even if his heart screamed otherwise.

EPILOGUE KATERINA Forever and a long ass day; that was how long I wanted to be with Vincent. It was finally happening today, our wedding, and I was the happiest bride. Ava stepped into the suite where I was getting my makeup done, all dressed and looking every bit of the princess she was, and I could not help but fight back tears. Within the past few months since she got here, she had grown so much. She was so beautiful, looked happier now and more healthy. I loved this child so much… She had a single rose and a box in hand as she walked towards me and I shook my head, my smile refusing to leave my lips, "Vincent, right?" I questioned. She nodded with a wide smile, "Daddy asked me to give this to you, mommy." Yeah, she called out me ‘mommy’ not too long ago, and has not looked back ever since. With a grin on my face, I took the gifts off her hand and then tore the box open to reveal a blank cheque which read; THANK YOU FOR MARRYING ME… AGAIN. And I would do it o

VINCENTI could not believe what I was hearing. That fucking nanny had almost killed my wife-to-be, and her death was made that easy? I could not let my driver take the wheels on this one, I took hold of the steering myself, heading straight to the hospital I had been directed to.Katerina was not picking up any of my calls and I hated it. I wanted to know how she was doing, how my daughter was doing too. I wanted to make sure they had not ingested that fucking poison in any manner. If by any chance that poison had gone down any of my girls' throat, next believe I would be killing that bloody woman all over again. The drive to the hospital was long as hell, but I finally got there and practically jumped out of the front seat, heading straight inside the building. The moment I walked into the hospital room and saw Katerina sitting there, alive and well, I felt like I could breathe again. There she was, her face pale and tired, yet still the most beautiful thing I had ever laid my eye

KATERINAThe house was quieter than usual that night, and I was starting to get that uneasy feeling again.I sat in the living room, reading a book while waiting for Ava to finish kissing her nanny goodnight so we could go to bed together.Vincent was out for the night handling some business, and I was left alone with Ava and the domestic staff. That's when I heard it—hushed voices from down the hallway. I couldn't make out everything, but the tone caught my attention. It was sharp, scolding. The words became clearer as I stood and crept toward the kitchen. "How could you mess this up, Ava? I told you to make sure she ate the eggs, not the chicken!" Her nanny hissed. "I—I thought she ate everything. I saw her do. I didn't know." Ava's small voice quivered, her words barely audible through the door. I could not then laugh at her little grammatical blunder at that moment, as I froze where I stood, my stomach twisting into knots. The eggs? What was she talking about? "Your mommy

  • Ruining My Billionaire Ex-Husband   160. “NO!”

KATERINA "Can I speak to mommy on the phone?" Ava asked quietly, looking up at me with desperate eyes. This was not the first time she had asked it, and it broke my heart for her that I could not give in to her request. "Sweetheart, I told you many times… mommy is out of reach. You cannot speak to her yet, but you will, I will take you to see her one of these days. I promise." I did not care if Whitney wanted her to see her like that or not, they'd have to meet, I decided. "Alright, K. Thank you." She muttered. The nickname always filled my stomach with butterflies. Fun fact; she had come up with it herself. In fact, she had requested to call me that. Though I secretly hoped she would eventually call me mommy, I decided to make do with this. We sat there while she colored on a new drawing hook I had bought for a while, until the smell of roasted chicken wafted through the room, and I looked back, noticing the nanny walking towards us. I almost moaned in relief. Finally. "So

KATERINAWhitney refused to tell us anything more after that. We stood there, threatening her with all manner of things, but she never budged. She just sat there, smiling crookedly and laughing occasionally.I finally convinced Vincent to leave there and we both went home, hoping to figure out what exactly Whitney meant with everything she said about Ava ourselves. This morning, I woke up in his arms and peered up to see that he was awake already, focused on his phone. He had wrinkled lines in his forehead and dark circles around his eyes, and I could not help but feel a twinge of worry for him.The man had been working so hard these days and somehow, I knew that it had something to do with what Whitney had said about his child.Ava was acting… well, she was still detached from her father but she was every bit the bubbly child around me. Her nanny lived with us now, and continued to take care of her, in better living conditions… it was what she wanted, and she had been very grateful.

  • Ruining My Billionaire Ex-Husband   158. QUESTIONING

VINCENT I slammed my car door shut before I went over to the other side to open up for Katerina. "Thank you," she muttered, looking as eager to see Whitney as I was. She looked even more eager, but then again that was probably because the woman literally wore her emotions like a sleeve. We walked briskly inside the prison walls without really saying anything else to each other; we had talked enough on our way here. It was only when we were getting to her cell, that Katerina turned to face me, telling me, "I am going to let you talk to her. You are the one who is mostly affected by this, I would let you question her and whatnot without any interruptions but I also want to say stuff to her too, just so you know." She informed me, and I nodded, not wanting to say anything in response at first, except that nod, but after a quick glance at her face, I could see the desperation in her eyes for me to be okay and just like that, I just couldn’t keep to myself any longer. I threw m
