VINCENT

"I'm not going anywhere with you." She answered me, sassy as hell, and I simply nodded. Then turned to one of my guards, who immediately went to the one person guarding her and sent him to the ground with two painful-sounding punches.

Her eyes widened as she rushed to him, calling out his hand over and over while he struggled to get a hold of himself. After checking him over and over, he eventually stood up, looking mad but bleeding through his nose like a wuss.

Katerina noticed that a small group had started to form, and she got up at once, turning to me.

"Ten minutes. That is all I have to spare for you." She shot at me, her eyes fierce, and her voice having a sharp edge to it.

"You do not get to negotiate that either, love. Simply follow me."

Without warning, her guard charged at mine for retaliation but he'd barely gotten one punch in before he was tackled to the ground again.

The worry was back on her face again as she struggled to separate the guard from my

KATERINA "Ugh! I hate him!" I cried out, throwing my purse on the couch before going to sit. I held my head in my palms for sometime, then stopped when I felt Kelvin's arms wrap around me. I leaned into his embrace out of instinct and stayed there, calming down. Then he asked, "Anything you would like to share?" "He's a jerk." "Sorry to burst your bubble but I think we have already concluded that a long time ago." I laughed, cheering up automatically. Kelvin had a way of lighting up anyone's mood, it was why even with his annoying personality, it was mostly a joy yo have him around. "Well, he was a little more jerk-y today. He had Julian beaten up. I know he’s strong and all, but he did not stand a chance against Vincent's more muscled up men. And they were two of them. I dropped Julian off to get checked." I narrated, and Kelvin let out a chuckle at the end. I sighed. "I know. Julian will not be getting checked, he'll probably leave the facility with a coup

KATERINA I stood up to give the man in front of me a handshake. We had just finished discussing business and he was on his way out. He took my hand and flashed me a creepy smile, one which I returned with one of my awkward ones. I let go of his hand in no time, feeling like bugs were crawling all over my skin with the way he kept eying me with a weird look on his face. "You are simply one of the most beautiful women I have come across. I mean, I may be married but I still want you. You can be my girlfriend, and I would be giving you some allowance every month.. you can add it to your business. Ten million per month.. and I give my wife fifteen. You are a lucky woman, Miss Montego." At that point, I really hoped that my facial expression mirrored the disgust I felt as I looked at the man. But after taking a deep breath, I decided to keep my reply as professional as I could. I started by smiling widely at him again. "Thank you for the generous offer, Sir. But I am not intere

VINCENT "So.. what was that about sharing space with me? As much as I recall, I have been of perfectly good behavior since I stepped in here. I mean, you invited me in yourself." I spoke, settling even more into the couch I had chosen to sit on. It was soft, yet firm. It was standard. Her whole house was an expensive standard. The place did not have much decorations to it, just like mine, and it was exquisite. White walls, luxury lightings that took the shape and make of real diamonds, marble tops and furniture. The flooring was marble too; the shiny Carrara style. The house was huge and spacious; even more expensive than it looked from the outside.. and the outside looked magnificent. Katerina Montego was truly a spoiled princess, and for some reason, I considered such an intellect being beside me as my Queen. Kelvin shrugged at what I had said, going to sit on the Y-shaped couch across me. "Well, for starters, you walked inside even after I told you that she was not in yet

KATERINADa'ana was the first to rush to me on sighting me at the entrance. She was dressed in a beautiful midi length gown that stopped at her knees and hugged her curves perfectly, matching her beautiful grey eyes too. Her hair was beautiful and styled to perfection. She had makeup on too, with her signature red lippie on, which always made her look like an enchantress of some sort. Was it just me, or had anyone else noticed that wicked women were always the prettiest?"Oh, you came! Gorgeous as always, I have no idea why you and my son dislike each other, you both would have made a great couple and powerful teammates!" She recommended, taking my hand in hers. It took plenty willpower and a reassuring look from Kelvin to keep my hand there. It was probably all in my head but I could not deny the fact that it burned. I hated this woman with my being and I just knew that even if it was with my last breath, she would go down and pay for all her sins. The entire city would know Da'ana

KATERINA Da'ana found me as soon as I reentered the hall. Kelvin was about to walk up to me, probably to ask if I was okay, but she beat him to it, taking my hand. His face twisted in a frown as he glared at her. "You were gone for a while. My son, the latest doctor, just arrived. He would be joining us soon." She told me. I nodded. At least one good thing for the night. I really couldn't wait to see Simon. Would he recognize me under this makeup and haircut? And if he did not.. what next?Da'ana took my hand and we finally moved towards one of the tables. She insisted I joined her at her table and showed Kelvin to a different one for other guests. He was not very pleased with that, but I shot him a pleading look, which caused him to take a deep breath, before leaving us alone."He seems to want to be around you all the time." She noted. I nodded. "He does. Kelvin is my… he's family. It's complicated." "Hmm. I see." She shot a look at his direction, her face twisted in a frown, be

KATERINAI held his gaze. I could not look away all of a sudden. It was like everything else had stopped, and we were only able to see each other.Well, until he decided to ruin it by shaking his head and then he looked away, focusing all his attention back to the crowd."Sorry, I got a bit distracted. So, as I was saying…" Simon trailed off, but I could no longer concentrate. What was that? I could not even look at Kelvin in that moment because I knew without a doubt that he would be staring at me with the most disappointed look in his eyes."I knew one of my sons would pick interest in you. I mean, did you notice the way he stared? I know that look too well.. I know my sons, and I know when they want something for themselves." Da'ana revealed to me.She was such a liar. If any mother could bag an award for not knowing a thing about her own offspring, it would certainly be Da'ana. She had been away from them for a while and only returned few years back, after her male sponsors abando

VINCENT"I do not understand, brother." Simon spoke with a confused expression on his face, wiping sweat off his face and neck areas. "What do you mean if I saw someone or anything familiar last night? I just returned for the first time in four years. I mean, everything looks a bit new to me, and granted there had been sone changes but of course, I recognize some things." I watched him keenly, disappointment visible in my tone as I asked, "Did you talk to her? Katerina Montego?"He nodded, his face lighting up in a smile at once as he went to get his bottle of water from one corner of the gym. "I did. Of course, I did. I walked in with her, remember?" He enquired.I nodded, waiting. At this point, I barely cared about the damn workout, but my brother was already checking out another workout machine. It was a private gym located in my house, and so no one could interrupt us here."She is a nice woman. Mollie asked, immediately picking up the menu. I had only talked to Mollie on the phone… video calls, normal calls and texts… I had never seen her in person. In person, she was every inch of the princess she was made to be. Her skin was the first thing that anyone would notice, and when she took off her sunshades on getting here, I could not stop staring at her lash extension set. Clean, and perfect for her glowing face.I felt like dropping the whole business talk for a minute to ask, 'Girl, who is your lash technician? And what mapping is that?'Her body looked like it had been touched up in some areas and her doctor did an amazing job. A lot of people, mostly men would not be able to tell.. at all. KATERINAWhitney refused to tell us anything more after that. We stood there, threatening her with all manner of things, but she never budged. She just sat there, smiling crookedly and laughing occasionally.I finally convinced Vincent to leave there and we both went home, hoping to figure out what exactly Whitney meant with everything she said about Ava ourselves. This morning, I woke up in his arms and peered up to see that he was awake already, focused on his phone. He had wrinkled lines in his forehead and dark circles around his eyes, and I could not help but feel a twinge of worry for him.The man had been working so hard these days and somehow, I knew that it had something to do with what Whitney had said about his child.Ava was acting… well, she was still detached from her father but she was every bit the bubbly child around me. Her nanny lived with us now, and continued to take care of her, in better living conditions… it was what she wanted, and she had been very grateful.

VINCENT I slammed my car door shut before I went over to the other side to open up for Katerina. "Thank you," she muttered, looking as eager to see Whitney as I was. She looked even more eager, but then again that was probably because the woman literally wore her emotions like a sleeve. We walked briskly inside the prison walls without really saying anything else to each other; we had talked enough on our way here. It was only when we were getting to her cell, that Katerina turned to face me, telling me, "I am going to let you talk to her. You are the one who is mostly affected by this, I would let you question her and whatnot without any interruptions but I also want to say stuff to her too, just so you know." She informed me, and I nodded, not wanting to say anything in response at first, except that nod, but after a quick glance at her face, I could see the desperation in her eyes for me to be okay and just like that, I just couldn’t keep to myself any longer. I threw m

KATERINA"Oh God, Ava!" I cried out as the little girl bolted away from the living room as we all had reacted too slowly because of course, no one had expected that from her.Vincent was the first to run after her, and also the first to recover from the shock. He was behind her in no time, and I was next, followed by the nanny.Luckily, the butler was quick enough to stop her. Ava was crying and kicking in his arms, demanding to be set free, but he was not having it."You aren't going out of here without adult supervision, woman!" He yelled, but she was not having it."Let me go! My mommy will hurt me, she says he's the bad guy, I cannot be around him, please…" She continued to cry. My heart broke in pieces for her. What kind of a mother was Whitney for crying out loud? "Your mother hurt you, and you still think your daddy is the bad man?" Vincent blurted out and I pinned him with a look, but he did not spare me a glance, his eyes were still transfixed in his daughter who refused to

VINCENT Katerina pulled the door open for me, mumbling to the butler, "Never mind. I got this." And then she smile widely at me after opening the door, wrapping her arms around my body in a tight hug. Her smile was nervous as fuck, as if she had something to tell me, and I knew that she did. A child was in here, at the living room. I had peeked through the surveillance, because my girl sounded nervous as fuck and I had to know what was making her like that. It was either that or me storming out of the meeting I was in. There was a nanny with the little girl too. She was claiming that the child was mine, and Whitney was her mother. But how the fuck did that even happen? Katerina pulled away from me, her face twisting in an offended frown, "You don't want to hug me back?" She started to step aside, but then my hand gripped her waist and I pulled her to me with force so her body collided with mine. Katerina gasped, then burst into a fit of giggles as I planted kisses al

KATERINA There was some commotion outside the front door. I had just heard it as I got out of the bathroom, trying to prepare to go shopping at the mall for a few essentials since I did not have work today. I ended up just throwing on Vincent’s T-shirt and a pair of shorts before heading downstairs to see what the noise was about. The noises grew louder as I approached the door and I pulled it open at once on reaching it. When my eyes met with a little girl's with her dark curls falling softly around her face, clutching a worn stuffed bunny, I almost thought she’d stopped at the wrong house. But then I noticed her eyes—a striking, familiar gray. The same piercing color that belonged to Vincent, with a touch of softness that reminded me of Whitney. Next to her stood a woman, exhausted, holding the little girl’s hand firmly, as if afraid she might lose her any moment. Our butler was asking questions, his gaze shifting between the woman and the little girl with polite suspicion.

VINCENT"I feel like I cannot leave this bed even if I tried to." Katerina groaned and I smirked, turning back to face her."Same. I think you would not be able to walk throughout today. After what that pussy had to go through last night." I muttered, and she was quick to chuck a pillow in my direction, and I chuckled, letting it hit me as I turned my face to the side."You're such an animal in bed…" She whined, trying to sit up, her cheeks pink with a blush. I stopped to stare, my cock hardening again as I watched her. So fucking gorgeous, I always wondered how I was lucky enough to bag her again…Those brown eyes peered up at me through her thick lashes, and I could jog help walking over to her to plant a kiss on her lips. She let me, placing a hand on my naked chest while the other hand held the duvet tightly over her tits.I laughed, pulling away from her lips as I looked down, "Why are you hiding my girls from me?""Because you get hard faster than I snap my fingers and this tim

KATERINAA MONTH LATERThe energy in the room was electric. Owen’s business launch had pulled in a crowd and the air buzzed with excitement and the hum of conversation filled the grand hall. New York City sprawled in glittering lights beyond the tall windows, adding to the glamour of the night. All these did not still sit well with me. The mafia men starting up businesses just to cover up their tracks which consisted of money laundering, drug trafficking, murder and so much more. However, Vincent had recently explained his reason for joining the mafia after swearing off it all his life. There was really no way out, so I had to learn to deal with all these… at least, for him, and the sacrifice he made to keep me safe.Standing near the bar, I sipped my champagne, scanning the crowd until my gaze landed on Owen’s girlfriend, Mae.At first, I did not fully recognize her because I had only seen her in pictures, but then I looked more closer, I realized it was truly her. She was all curls

I saw the moment that the blood started to drip down from the side of her head and her eyes drooped almost shut. Whitney fell to the ground in a heap and I looked in front of me to see Vincent finally making it to where I was crouched in a sitting position. I placed my both hands either sides of his face, crying hard. Everything that was happening just did not make sense to me. It was true that I wanted to hurt him in the beginning, but now I just could not stand seeing him like this. My heart broke in pieces just looking at him while he seemed so helpless, so pale, like he could just pass out anytime soon. The room still spun with smoke, thick and suffocating, the scent of burnt wood and fabric searing my lungs. My mind barely registered what had just happened—on

KATERINASmoke filled the room, thick and suffocating, the heat growing unbearable. My throat burned with every breath, and my chest felt like it was about to collapse from the pressure. I could hear Vincent struggling, his body tense beside me as he worked to cut through the ropes around his wrists. The flames crept closer, inching toward us, consuming everything in their path."I'll get it. I'll get it, firecracker. We will get out of here." He swore while he kept struggling to loosen himself.I felt the tears sliding down my cheeks, but it wasn’t the smoke that made me choke this time. I thought about how close we’d been to ending all of this madness, to finally being free. But now, trapped and helpless, every second felt like an eternity ticking down to an end I wasn’t ready to face. Panic clawed at me, making my heart race wildly as I pulled against the ropes that bound my wrists, desperation filling every fiber of my being. Finally, with one last, fierce yank, Vincent broke free
