Chapter 22

Gina was standing a few feet away from me with her hands planted on her hips, and there was a stern expression on her face. I was suddenly reminded of when I first began working as a maid and she tried to kill me.

Instinctively, I grew defensive and bowed curtly.

“Good morning,” I said, my voice was void of sarcasm this time around.

Gina only hummed in response to my greeting as she came closer to me.

“Why did you do it?” she asked. Straightforward as ever.

“Do what?” I played around with my words.

Gina’s brown eyes drew into narrow slits as she stared at me. “Don’t talk nonsense and just answer me. I know that it wasn’t totally for your self protection, so tell me. Why did you do it? What do you want from me?”

I tilted my head to one side as a smile made its way to my lips. I liked Gina, she was really clever. My kind of person.
