"What do you mean he isn't coming?" Sophie yelled at someone in the other room. I was disappointed to find myself in her bed, instead of where I wanted to be. I yawned and climbed out of bed to find out why she was yelling and who she was yelling at.

Nathan stood there stoically with his arms folded over his chest, waiting for her tirade to end. I'd come out just as she demanded to know where Dmitri was so she could scold him, and I caught the way his jaw clenched. "He can't tell you," I sighed, "He's been ordered not to." He looked relieved to see that someone understood the strain he was under, but her face started to turn purple. I smiled, "But, I'll bet that he didn't make sure to cover his ass and include where he isn't. Has Dmitri left the house today?"

Nathan's relief quickly faded to annoyance. "No."

"See?" I gestured towards the door, and sat down at the table to pour myself some coffee, ignoring the pang I felt when I thought

I was wearing the black button down shirt I’d nabbed from Dmitri’s closet before I left his empty room, pulled over a silver colored satin tank, and a pair of white jeggings. After I put up my hair in a high pony tail, I put on the necklace Sophie had given me and the cuff he’d sent over. She made a face that told me she didn’t like this outfit as much as my others, until I shrugged and let his shirt slip to hang off a shoulder, making it very clear that I was not wearing a bra. It was also the only way to see that I was wearing the cuff on my arm. “Can we skip wolf lessons today?” she frowned, trying not to giggle at the name I’d given our cram sessions, “I know that there is a lot for me to learn, but I think I just need a breather today.” Mo

I never should have let myself believe that any of this was going to work out the way I wanted. It felt like the ground had opened up beneath me and swallowed me up so that I couldn’t see anymore, or even breathe enough to catch my breath and scream. Nothing that happened the last few weeks meant a damn thing now. I read through the file, again just to be sure. I knew I was right to despise them. I’d always thought they were opportunistic bottom feeders, but this… this was beyond anything I could have imagined anyone capable of. Not only could they have killed her, but I’d almost died twice, and so had an innocent wolf. She could’ve been a walking death sentence to everyone around her when she first got here. Worse than that was the lie that started all of this and ripped everything good in my life away from me now. They couldn’t be brought back into custody fast enough for me or my wolf. We were going to kill them. It was just a matter of when and how

  • Rite of Submission   51: The Chains that Bind

It felt like I was yanked under water and held there until my lungs were burning to take in a new breath. I didn’t know this place, some strange black void that echoed the sound of my own breath back to me. ‘You shouldn’t be here!’ I could feel my entire body start to shake as my eyes focused on the black wolf and the man beside him. “Fuck You!” I shouted, making his head snap up to look at me. The wolf beside him sighed heavily. I’d been fully awake and still somehow ended up being pulled into a dream with him. “How are you here?” Dmitri genu

  • Rite of Submission   52: The Bond

I was relieved to see Blake and not Nathan or Dmitri sitting there watching me sleep. He gave me a cheeky grin when I got dizzy from sitting up too fast, and he laughed when I stuck my tongue out at him. “So, how much trouble am I in this time?” I tried to smile, but I knew I wasn’t going to like the answer. “I think you’ll have to define ‘trouble’ before I can answer that,” it had to be a good sign that he was still smiling and sounded a little jovial. “Did mom and dad ground me to this room? This suite? The house? Or are they packing me up and shipping me off to boarding school in hopes that I’ll change my wicked ways and be the good girl they raised me to be?” his good mood was contagious and I couldn’t help but be a little over dramatic. “I don’t think you’re anymore grounded than you were before,” he grinned, “but I don’t know if that is because of interpack politics or because they don’t think they can do more than observe rather

  • Rite of Submission   53: Sacrifice

Everything about this just felt wrong. The meadow was the same. The trees surrounding the open space in the forest were the same. Even the full moon shining in the night sky was the same. But it was all so very wrong at the same time. Everything was deathly still and deafeningly silent. Even the sea of stars above refused to blink. A sense of dread was churning in my stomach as I turned in slow circles where I stood. I could feel that there was something or someone out there, but I couldn’t see anything but grass and trees around me. If this was a dream, his dream, where was he? Every dream we’d shared, he’d always been right there, either beside me or within eyesight. Why would he dream about me standing alone? The one other time I’d been pulled alone to this place, I coul

  • Rite of Submission   54: The Final Days of My Life

I’d started to think that he wasn’t going to show his face at all. Sophie’s face lit up like a kid on Christmas morning when he stepped through her doors. “Dimi?” her chair fell back on the floor, she stood up so fast. I couldn’t help but smile, watching her run across the room to tackle him. “I thought you said you couldn’t…” He cut her off, “Someone helped me free up just enough time to visit with you for a little while before I have to get back to work.” He gave her a hug, looking at me over the top of her head. She kept an arm around his waist as he walked her back to the table, as if she was afraid to let him go. He picked her chair up for her, pushing it in as she sat down. “Good morning Selene,” he didn&rsq

  • Rite of Submission   55: Selene

I knew this place. It was the void that had swallowed me up the last few nights in my nightmares. Had I been dreaming about my death? I didn’t feel the same sense of panic and dread that had me gasping for air when I woke up. This was peaceful, and serene; who would have thought that dying could be so comforting? ‘Has this life been so difficult that we welcome the prospect of death?’ a soft feminine voice mused. “I couldn’t take the pain anymore,” I answered back, my voice sounded meek and small in this endless void. Melodic laughter reverberated around me, &l

The goddess wearing my face looked at each of the twin as if she was trying to determine each of their worth, ‘Even after all they’ve suffered us to endure?’ She shrugged nonchalantly, the movement looking strangely elegant on her. ‘We cannot just create a mate for each of them out of thin air, not unless they’d like to wait a few decades.’ “What about all of the female shifters, they don’t have mates, can’t we just…” I waved my hands around like I was pairing them up with new mates. She laughed softly, ‘Of course they have mates,’ she patted me on the head, like a small child. ‘

If you've enjoyed following Selene's jouney so far, I wold like to invite you to continue with her as she explores what it means to be an incarnation of the moon goddess in "Rite of Power" I am posting it as it's own story and until it passes through the application stage, the only way to add it to your library is through the mobile and PC website for Goodnovel. I have already posted the first 3 chapters and will be contining to post 3 chapters a week, one each on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The only reason there is more beyond Rite of Submission is because of all of you. (and my beta readers who practically screamed at me that there had to be more). I hope to see all your wonderful comments and notes there. If you haven't noticed yet, I do actually look through and read your comments, even the ones correcting my grammar. • Rite of Submission   70: Alpha of Alphas

In the week leading up to our formal introduction of me as an Alpha to the rest of the world, Nathan had doubled down on my training sessions. We had our one on one sessions in the morning, group sessions before lunch, and sparing matches in the evening before dinner. The sparring matches had become something I looked forward too, even though most of the 2 hour span turned out to be a second one on one with Nathan. To keep any potential sparring partners from holding back, we’d added a unique incentive. If they could pin me, and get me to tap out, they were given a day off of all their regular duties. If I got them to tap out in less than 5 minutes, they spent the next day doing all the worst duties. The first day had brought a lot of eager challengers. Unfortunately, I’d learned to be

As promised, I’d begged for most of the night, but not for forgiveness. Even with my healing abilities, I woke up with sore, protesting muscles and flaming red buttocks. It made it that much more difficult to slip out of bed without waking him as the sun started peeking over the horizon. I wanted to try to actually learn how to train today, before training in a group with Sophie and the newly selected female enforcers. I’d had to pour the sway on extra thick to get Nathan to agree to meet with me without telling Dmitri about it. “You said sunrise,” he grumbled as I made my way into the sparing room under the house. “Careful Beta,” I warned, knowing it irked him to b

‘Sophia would like to know if you two are going to be indisposed all day,’ Dmitri’s groan told me that Nathan had linked both of us and awoken him as well. ‘Has she had breakfast set up in her rooms,’ his thought sounded more annoyed than he felt as his mouth kissed my shoulder, making my skin tingle. ‘No, Alpha,’ Nathan sounding just as annoyed, ‘As per your mate’s suggestion, she’s had our breakfast meeting set up in the main dining room today.’ I wondered if he could feel my eyes roll through the link. ‘Coffee,’ I tr

  • Rite of Submission   67: Mine

I found myself breathless, with my face smashed into the mattress. Struggling, I sucked in a breath to cope with the burn that radiated across my stinging buttocks, as his hand connected to shove my whole body forward; sliding me off of his expended member. The sudden emptiness made me acutely aware of the dull ache throbbing between my legs. My legs felt like limp noodles, not responding to my attempts to stand or at least roll over onto my side. “Haven’t you had your fill yet?” he practically snarled. My endeavors to assure him it was only me now died as muffles into the bed. The sound slap on my ass ripped a sharp cry from my throat. ‘It’s me! It’s me! It’s

  • Rite of Submission   66: Dark & Twisted Delights

I feel asleep with a sense of serenity I’d never felt before. Waking now and stretching my arms, I can’t help but worry if I’d dreamt it. Blue eyes, not black pools when he said he loved me. I jerked upright when my hand found only empty space beside me. ‘Dmitri?’ I tried to picture his face as I reached my thoughts out to him. Relief settled over me like a warm blanket, ‘Welcome back to the land of the living, Princess.’ I could feel his relief as well, ‘You looked so peaceful. I didn’t want to disturb you. I’ll wrap things up here and be up in a few minutes.’ I settled back into the pillows, feeling like I could float up to the ceiling at any moment. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you look so content,” his adoration washed over me, with a tinge of jealousy. My cheeks hurt from smiling so big, “You love me,” butterflies swirled in my stomach as he looked down at me. He frowned, “Have I really made you question that?”

  • Rite of Submission   65: Broken

To much time had passed and he was still just staring at me with a blank expression as I knelt there holding his hand in mine. One of us needed to say something eventually. I had a limited number of options before me, and I’d need time to prepare either way he decided. A knock on the main doors derailed my train of thought. His face was still blank, “I’ll go see who that is, and what they want,” I whispered, setting his hand on his thigh. Still nothing from him, sighing, I climbed off the floor and made my way to the sitting room. I opened the door to a very cheerful Sophia, “It sounded really quiet, so I thought I wouldn’t be interrupting,” she gave me a wink with a cheeky grin, “I planned for us all to have brunch instead of breakfast since the morning after a full moon tends to run a little later than normal, aaaaannnnnnd…” she wiggled her eyebrows at me suggestively. “Oh, um…” I quickly pulled her inside and shut the door behind he

  • Rite of Submission   64: Pay the Piper

The sun peeked over the edge of the horizon just before we started making our way back down to the clearing. Nathan and Dmitri had been quiet the last few hours. I assumed it was because they were having a conversation the rest of us weren’t meant to hear. I didn’t know if I could listen in, or even if I should try. It wouldn’t be fair of me to keep my own secrets but intrude on theirs. ‘Anyone want to race down?’ Blake found new enthusiasm as the sky changed to a bluish-pink. ‘I’m game,’ Lalita challenged, his cheerful attitude seemed to perk her up as well. They set off down the hillside, followed by a handful of enforcers and most of the females. The

  • Rite of Submission   63: Wolves in the Woods

I let myself fall slightly behind; then kept the pace to maintain the gap. Dmitri, Blake and the female wolves kept pace with me as the rest of the enforcers ran together ahead of us, Nathan at the head of their charge. It was a long way to the rocky shelf that they ran up the hillside too every run. Dmitri had pointed it out on a map for me the night before, and I was just enjoying the feeling of wind in my fur and dirt beneath my paws as we ran. ‘You’re toying with him,’ Dmitri accused. ‘Only a little bit,’ I teased and picked up my pace for a moment to close the gap a few feet. ‘He’s going to be very grumpy for days,’ He teased back. ‘I warned him, you warned him,’ I mocked. ‘6, Princess,’ he warned, but I could feel his amusement. We continued through the trees, racing up the slope, closing the gap a little more every so often. When our group was a few feet behind the enforcers, Na
