Chapter Four

"Can I get you anything else?" I asked, not having a clue as to why he was adorning an evil smirk right now.

"Nope. I'm all good, Hazel..?" He paused, waiting for me to tell my last name.

"Woods. Hazel Woods."

"I'm Jayden Brooks but I'm sure you already know who I am," He extended his hand for me to shake and I raised my eyebrows at his cockiness.

"That's very presumptuous of you, Mr. Brooks."

"Come on, my friend must have atleast told my name before asking you to kiss me last night." He added with a wink, making my eyes go wide in shock.

"Ex-Excuse me?"

"Do you know what I prefer?" he asked me in a dangerously low voice, making me swallow hard.

"Huh?"

He gestured towards me to come closer and I obeyed him. I slowly leaned against the counter, not breaking his gaze and our faces were just inches away from each other.

He came closer near my ears and his hot breath near my neck was enough to make me go weak in my knees.

"I prefer tasting this drink off your lips," he whispered, his lips slightly brushing against my earlobes and I squeezed my thighs involuntarily as a wave of desire passed through my body.

Holy Fuck!

I drank this last night before kissing him.

God! What does this happen to me?

"I have no idea what you are talking about so if you don't mind, I have to get back to work." I lied smoothly and turned around to hide my panic that must have been evident on my face already.

This is not good.

What if he blabbers to Beth?

"Oh God! Is he still here?" I heard Beth's voice and immediately turned around to get the drink from him and hid it under the counter to save my ass before she could see.

"He was just leaving." I signalled him with my eyes, hoping he would understand but he narrowed his eyes at me in confusion and I had no choice but to mouth him 'please'.

"See you, ladies." He spoke before getting off his chair, his eyes not leaving mine all the while and I broke my gaze by cleaning the counter. Luckily, Beth didn't notice it and resumed her work.

"Oh and I'm looking forward to taste that drink again, Hazel." He called out before exiting through the door, making me blush a deep shade of red.

What did he mean by that?

"What was that about?" Beth asked and I just shrugged in response.

"No idea. He is just being his cocky self as usual."

"Glad you see it that way instead of drooling all over him like the other girls," she added, shaking her head in annoyance while I kept my mouth shut, wondering how she would react if she comes to know that I kissed him.

It's not like I'm going to kiss him again but I really need to make sure Jayden keeps his mouth shut.

"Hazel, can you give this list to Mason? I think he is in the office with Zach." She handed me a stack of papers without waiting for my response and continued to serve the customers, making me roll my eyes.

"This is so childish. Why can't you give him yourself?"

"Because he annoys me, babe."

"I swear, this is the last time I'm doing this." I mumbled and walked towards the office at the back. The door was open and I peeped inside but it was empty. Both Mason and Zach were nowhere to be seen.

I let out a soft sigh and turned around only to almost trip and fall but a pair of arms held me steadily from falling.

"Woah! Easy there," I heard Zach's voice and looked up to meet his concerned gaze, breathing heavily. I never knew he had a beautiful shade of green eyes and for some reason I couldn't look away from them.

"Hazel? Are you alright?"

Crap! I must have looked like a creep, staring at him.

"Uhh...yeah, I'm sorry. I'm so clumsy these days." I let out a nervous chuckle and pulled back from his arms immediately.

"Glad that I was in the right place at the right time." He replied, giving me an amusing smile and continued,"Were you looking for me?"

"I was actually looking for Mason to give him these." I held out the stack of papers in front of him and he took them from my hand.

"Let me guess, my sister asked you to do it."

"Exactly! I just wish they went out already instead of annoying each other." I groaned in frustration, making him laugh.

"I know. Mason definitely likes her."

"And she likes him too but she is so stubborn."

"Just like you," he added, making me gasp in response.

"I am not stubborn."

"Really? What about the time when you refused to eat anything except pizza?" He asked, reminding me of the night when we all went out to eat in a fancy restaurant and all I wanted to eat was pizza.

"That was one time and I was really craving some pizza that night." I mumbled with a small pout, making him chuckle. I was surprised that he remembered something so insignificant.

"God! You are so tiny and adorable sometimes," he ruffled my hair and walked inside his office with a small smile while I stood there in confusion.

Tiny and adorable?

Oh my God! He does see me as his sister.

I felt annoyed and walked away with a sulking face.

The rest of the day went by quickly and it was almost midnight. Beth went home early and it was just me and Anna managing the bar.

"You can take off, Anna. I'll close the place." I offered, clearing out the plates from the table and she was more than happy to leave.

Well, I did owe her for the other night.

Once I was done cleaning, I removed my apron and collected my things to leave. I walked outside before closing the pub and pulled out my phone to call Beth but before I could hit the call button, I felt someone covering my mouth and lifting me off my feet.

I started to panic and tried to reach for the pepper spray from my bag but the person held both my arms firmly and continued to walk as if I weighed nothing.

Dammit, I really wished I wasn't tiny now.

I started kicking behind with my legs and tried to free myself desperately. He hissed in response and finally stopped in front of a really expensive car and let go of me. I turned around angrily to see who the fuck tried to kidnap me.

"You are really feisty and voilent, woman."

You've got to be kidding me!

Why in the first couple of chapters Zach’s eyes are described as blue with flecks of gold and in this chapter his eyes are described as green? Which is it?
