Excitement filled the arena, as the individual fight fixtures were revealed.
World Destroyer was without contest the most popular gladiator, as some spectators chanted his name vigorously like he already won the individual tournament.
After knowing the day that he was to fight, Kalen ignored every other thing and continued his intense training.
As he trained, the days slowly rolled forward while the first individual fights scheduled on Fri
Just like penetrating x-rays, the morning sun rays shone into the room, illuminating it with a golden tint. The tree leaves outside swayed leisurely, dancing to the rhythm of the morning breeze carefreely. As nature gradually reared its head full of grandeur, a pair of eyes snapped open as the boy squinted them to adjust to the light intensity. He yawned as his brain gradually cleared up, while he rubbed his eyes with his hand to clean them. He finally sat up, as he took in his surroundings with dreamy eyes. As he looked, something quickly caught his eyes, bringing a broad smile to his youthful face, his sleeping sister. He could not help but smile broader, as he recalled that today was her 15th birthday. The small and shabby-looking room did not take away his excitement, he was already used to seeing it. And it’s not like their room was the shabbiest either, others had worse. He was sure that others were living in a poorer condition than his,
As gladiators who qualified to be brought into the outer headquarters of the Sea Angels Alliance, Kalen group was entitled to a certain amount of money for the duration of time they fought for the Neo-Rome Empire. From this money entitlement, Derek hired a car for a day so that they could enjoy their day without looking for an alternative means of transportation. Kalen volunteered to be the team’s driver for the day. No one objected, so he got the chance to drive his first ever electric car. The feeling was novel to him, as he relished the opportunity given to him. As soon as they left their team compound, he sped down the road, moving towards the highway. Kane was still undecided, so he had no direction, he just letting his spirit guide him to their destination. They all admired the huge buildings as their vice-captain drove them aimlessly around. On reaching the highway, they admired the massively interconnected bridges, the smooth tiled roa
“Hahaha, you fought so savagely, Kalen. I love it, keep it up.” Kalen rolled his eyes at Derek’s words, as he went to rest in the nutrition chamber provided in the mech piloting room. The strain on his brain was enormous, despite it only being a virtual mech. As he rested, the others heaped praise on his performance relentlessly. He was the one who emerged victorious, after calculating the scores of all their fights. As everyone blabbered on, someone stood up from his cabin. The area immediately quietened down, as everyone watched Kane approaching Kalen. “Your performance…, very strong.” Kane gave an evaluation, before pausing a bit, “but I will beat you one day, I promise you that.” Him saying this in such a harmonious atmosphere, completely ruined everyone’s happy mood. “What a shit-stirrer we have as a teammate.” The others felt like punching him in the face. “Hmmm…. I will accept the challenge anytime. I will be ready for y
After an intense round of exciting fights, the finalists for the 5th round of the team tournament were finally forged out from the rest. For the 5th round, Neo-Rome Empire was scheduled to fight one of the few teams with mediocre strength that qualified through sheer luck. They won the fight without any suspense, enabling them to advance safety to the semi-finals of the tournament. The Microsoft Empire and the United States teams also advanced to the semifinals. The Red Raiders team, another powerhouse team, was the last team to advance to the semifinals. This completed the required number of teams for the semifinals, the other powerhouse teams could only gnash their teeth in regret as their opportunity was already lost. ***************************************** A few days later, the battle fixtures for the semifinals were finally revealed. Only the powerhouse teams were left, so no thought of having an easy team to face. Thoug
Though it took a while, the Microsoft Empire team, finally grasped their opponent team’s strategy completely as they quickly started adjusting their formation in retaliation. After understanding their motive, the Great Defender quickly made some swift maneuvers and easily escaped Kane’s grasp. He charged forward, moving straight to where his captain fought with his shield steadily raised and held firmly. Kalen did not panic on seeing this, as they already predicted this in their calculations. There was no way that their opponents would leave their team Captain to fight them both, they were not that foolish. He ignored the gradually advancing opponent, as he accompanied Derek in fighting the one that stood before them. World Destroyer was completely calm despite the injuries that he already sustained, he waited patiently for his teammate’s reinforcement with a poker face. It was an understatement to just say that he was angry. He felt h
Minutes later, the fight was still raging fiercely. The battlefield shook from the impact and vibrations as the 5 gladiators utilized all their strength, skill and endurance in the last effort to claim victory. The World Destroyer showed why he was the captain, as he spearheaded his team’s offensive bravely. His 2 teammates supported his offensive from both flanks, increasing the pressure that their opponents felt. The effectiveness at which the Neo-Rome Empire’s small remaining team of 2 fought, showed that the A. I’s evaluation about their teamwork was not without basis. Despite fighting in a disadvantaged fight against 3 strong opponents and one of them being the dreaded World Destroyer, they showed why they received such huge evaluations in their team effectiveness. Both gladiators fought impeccably like a well-oiled machine, as their silhouettes flashed in and out of their small battlefield with speed. Kalen felt overwhelmed with fatigue,
Kalen feebly climbed out of his nutrition chamber, as Derek came forward to support him. The mental exertion was still affecting him, his hands shook unsteadily. Despite 15 minutes already passing, the stadium was still extremely noisy from the excited cheers of the spectators. They kept on chanting World Destroyer’s name excitedly, as he already established himself as a gladiator legend in the Sea Angel’s Alliance’s arena. After noticing that all the gladiators were out of their chambers, a replay of the last moments of the fight were on display to both the spectators and gladiators. The stadium quieted down, as sound dampeners were activated to tame the noise. Despite his current feeble appearance, Kalen was still able to capture what was being shown on the display. He clenched his fists as he saw himself being impaled in the chest by his opponent’s sword. His expression kept on fluctuating, as Derek slowly patted him on the back.
Nami slowly brushed her dark hair, as it tumbled in a cascade down her back. She looked at her reflection from the mirror, prompting a soft smile to slowly outline her face. Her fair skin, in conjunction with the dark suit that she wore painted an incredibly beautiful sight. With her smooth but finely chiseled face, she looked just like the models who appeared in magazines in the 21st century. She looked more mature and refined compared to a few years ago, she now had the womanly vibe. The only thing lacking in the picture reflecting from the mirror was her man to wrap her in his arms. On thinking of this, her smile dampened a bit as it quickly turned strained. It was already about 3 years since she got separated from Kalen. Thinking of how he was probably suffering from unimaginable things alone on the sea, made her cry in fear for his safety at times. She was already 21 this year. Thinking of the fact that a man she met for just a few months
