The Republic of Gaul is a country with middle-grade military power, and they are directly opposite of Kingdom of Camelot in terms of territory comparison. Republic of Gaul and Kingdom of Camelot are neighboring countries with no close sentiments to each other.
Invading other counties for their resources or territories are the norm in this century. Republic of Gaul has always coveted the Kingdom of Camelot’s territories and resources. The Republic of Gaul is more advanced than Kingdom of Camelot technologically, but not by much. The Gauls don’t like that and show much aggression against the Knights of Camelot.
All citizens of Camelot have hatred already indoctrinate into them. There is no good interaction between the countries only hatred.
If the countries every interact with each other, it always leads into small skirmishes. These skirmishes would at time lead into major invasions. The Gauls are more enthusiastic about the invasions, as they are slightly stronger.
Kalen, a knight of Camelot, naturally hated the Gauls as they killed his parents.
He sat close to Aledos on the helicopter, as it flew towards the CreepyWillow Forest. The government only provided them a pair of daggers, a standard Camelot squire uniform, pair of boots, pair of military gloves and a sword made from reinforced steel.
The squires were sad because the government refused to issue out any guns for this part of training.
He silently observed the rest of his teammates, who were all serious and stone-faced. When he felt no one was looking at him, he secretly prayed. “God give me the strength and brains to survive this training.”
He felt ridiculous after he finished praying. He wanted to laugh. “Is this fear? No, that is for cowards. I am not afraid of anything. I will fight with all my might.”
As he thought this, he saw his friend suddenly turn to look at him in the eye with the biggest grin. Kalen knew what the expression meant. “Hahaha, you nervous as shit.”
He almost wants to hit his friend, but he heard Aledos chuckled. “Calen, don’t die, please.” Kalen smiled to his friend and nodded.
No matter how much his friend annoys him, they were still best friends until the end. These little antics were not harmful, but helpful as its strength their bond.
A brotherhood without antics or any mischievousness is just a farce. He told his friend, you too, as this was the best answer, he could give him. In his mind it was a fierce battle.
They were both 18 years, there was not a lot they haven’t seen from the world yet. This were their best years, and they were not ready to waste their joyfulness by being serious all the time.
“I am going to use this training to train my reflexes and obtain real batter experience,” he thought to himself silently, as he clenched his fists.
Twenty minutes later, Aledos was dropped in an unknown part of the CreepyWillow Forest. Fifteen minutes later, Kalen was the last squire to jump out. He looked over to their escort Sergeant Langley.
The sergeant noticed his stare. He turned to look at him and smiled. “Kalen, this batch of ten squires that’s under me, you are the most exceptional. I know you are meant for great things, don’t disappoint me.”
He only smiled in reply, and then quickly jumped out of the helicopter. He landed on the ground and watched the helicopter departed.
“Come on, variant beasts. I’m ready for y’all,” he suddenly said sarcastically, to improve his spirit for the training. You never know, the smallest gesture now, can be what will save your life in the future.
Kalen looked around the area of the forest he dropped in. It’s kind of swampy area. He wisely decided to leave the area to drier environment. Surviving five days in this forest is not going to be fun. He reminded himself to be self-conscious of his surroundings.
It took him about an hour to find a dry area. He quickly set up his tent for the night. He unsheathed his sword to cut down some trees nearby for their broad leaves.
As he worked, he began startled as something suddenly crossed his front with abnormal speed. He used his fast reflexes to get away from whatever it was. He looked and to his surprise, it was a cat. He looked closer before realizing it was an augmented Tigon.
“Damn, you bastard scared the hell out of me,” he said out loud in anger and embarrassment.
“Shoo!! Get out of here, or I will kill you,” he said because the main reason was mostly didn’t want any meat now.
To his surprise, the tigon started growling with obvious hostility. It lunged forward with startling speed; it almost reached his face in an instant. Kalen was also fast, as he reflexively blocked with his sword.
Damn it!! The Tigon knocked Calen’s sword away from him. The tigon continues to strike and claw at his face with its claws.
Kalen remembered the fundamentals, he immediately rolled away. He lunged forward while pulling the dagger out of his boot. It connected to the tigon underside, as it howled in pain, but kept its aggression.
It tried to claw with its claws. Kalen felt the sharp pang of pain as the claws cut his. It almost disoriented him, but he concentrated harder. He started to pull the dagger upwards to the tigon neck widening its injury.
Kalen jumped back as he is expecting a retaliation from the tigon. He left his dagger behind and reached for his other dagger. He threw it with precision, and it connected with the tigon’s left eye.
Before Kalen jumped back, he calculated where his sword landed. Upon landing by his sword. He picked it up and immediately did a backward slash. The tigon accelerated to him, but he already knew the tigon would do this.
The sword made contact, removing the tigon head with ease. Blood spurted out of its neck, as his tense nerves began to relax a little.
After he killed it, he immediately searched around the area as to make sure there was no other animal that would attack him. After about 15 minutes he start to feel a little bit safe. He returned to the body of the tigon and just stared at it. He was still in shocked that he killed it.
“Jesus, these augmented animals are no joke. They are scary as hell,” he blurted out, still shocked. “It seems I can’t just breeze through this test after all.
He picked up the leaves that he cut down previously and arranged them in a slightly covered shape, to protect him from prying eyes in the night.
After he finished getting his tent set up. He scouted around the area for any more latent threats, seeing none at the moment he lit a fire. He roasted the tigon meat. He used his implant to learn some basis medical to help nurse his injuries. He found some forest medicinal herbs to use.
After he finished eating, he felt he wanted to sleep. “What time is it? Where is my watch?” He asked himself but then he remembered where he was and what he was doing.
“I am in the CreepyWillow Forest doing the advance tech test. I got this. All I need to do is close my eyes.”
He climbed into his tent and felt satisfied. He uses the last of the sun rays and his shadow to check the time. “That’s better, God is still with me.”
Kalen woke up feeling refreshed and revitalized. “I feel like I am in a VIP suite. It is so comfortable. It feels way better then I imagined,” he moaned with satisfaction. He stared at the makeshift bed of tress leaves. He smiled and looked satisfied with his work. “I am going to miss this experience.” He got out of his tent and observed his surrounding making sure there is no danger near back. The sun was shining brightly. He started to grin, as he was enjoying free vitamin D. “What a beautiful free world,” he exclaimed feeling satisfied. He found water pit near his camp. He washed his face and filled his canteen with water. He checked his shadow to see what time it was, he felt it was around seven in the morning. “I should eat something before I leave and continue on my training,” he thought. He ate some of the tigon meat, and then stored the remaining meat in a makeshift bag that he hand-made with some tree leaves. He knew that improvisation is a must learn skill to survive in
“This training is going to be harder than I thought,” Kalen thought, as he walked through the forest looking for a place to wash the blood off his body and clothes. After about twenty minutes of walking, he found a stream nearby. He subconsciously looked around the area for any kind of threat. He quickly rushed up to the water as soon as he noticed he was in the clear. “These four days remaining are going to be a pain in the ass,” he thought out loud. He looked to his right, and he was shocked to find a jackfruit tree. He eyes brightened immediately. “Thank you, God. There is something to eat beside meat. He brought his dagger and climbed the tree for the fruit while staying alert. “I can’t let my guard down. My life is more important than this fruit. He knew that if he let his guard down like a fool that was hungry, he could be attacked and killed. Suddenly he thought about his friend Aledos, as he probably in same situation as him. “Make it through this brother. You are not allo
Bzzzt!! Bzzzt!! Kalen woke up top hear his alarm going off on his phone. “Damn, it’s 6am already. I didn’t get enough sleep last night,” he grumbled as he quickly got up. He showered and brushed his teeth.Twenty minutes later, he was dressed in his new military uniform that was provided yesterday. He strapped on his sword and daggers, and ready to face this new challenge. He left his room surprised that Aledos was not waiting for him. He is usually up before him.“What happened to this fool now?” He questioned as he went to his friend’s room. “I can’t believe he is still sleeping. He reached Aledos’s room in about 15 seconds.Boom! Boom! Boom! He banged on his friend’s door as he called out, “Hey dumbass, what the hell are you doing in there?”“Alright, you can stop banging on my door. I just woke up late. I’ll be there in a minute,” Aledos yelled to his friend.“I said it, when the sun rises normal people respond fast to get up. But you my friend are slow as a snail. What a bad infl
After 30 minutes, were one of the first groups to be dropped off within the mountainous region of the forest reserves. As soon as Kalen landed, he surveyed the area to make sure there was no immediate danger. “This will work for us. We can see far and have more obstacles to take cover,” he told his friend, who also surveying the area. “Kalen, I want us to dominate this competition. Let’s find a place to set our camp and defensives before we scout the area.” Aledos said in a calm tone, as he turned to look at his friend. Kalen grunted in reply, as they quickly found a cliff that gave them plenty of cover from the exobeasts. The friends dropped their gear and went out to prepare their defenses. They decided that Kalen would wield the sniper, as he was a better marksman than his friend. They knew that Aledos can’t shoot to save his life. He has poor accuracy. They quickly set up their makeshift perimeter without any delays. They settled down, and Aledos decided to go into the forest
Aledos woke up and looked around, “where am I?” He asked out loud as he tried to stand up, which brought on a wave of dizziness to him. He touched his head and felt the cloth bandage. He began to recall what happened to him.He sighed as he glanced outside. “It’s already evening, I wonder where Kalen went to.During the construction of their make-shift residence, they placed rocks to form a cave before their encounter with the exobeast. He went out of the tent to see his friend sitting beside the fire roasting some meat.“Looks who is wake? Bro, how’s your head?” Kalen asked as he casually munched on his meat.“I am not sure to be honest. I still feeling little dizzy though.” Aledos replied as he supported his head with his palm.“Man, you are tough as hell. Come and eat some roasted meat. While you were sleeping, I killed an antelope. It is so good, come and eat,” Kalen said with a smile.“Alright,” Aledos replied as he moved forward. He felt the wave of hunger as he smelled the meat
Aledos Hawke woke up to see that the sun arisen. He could see the sun rays filter into the cave. He admired the rays as his eyes adjust to the light. He checked the watch on his wrist to see it was already 7am. “Why haven’t that fool wake me up already?” He cursed as he quickly got up and made his way outside. He saw Kalen already up and he was doing some pushups. “I can’t believe this asshole. He does these pushups daily so he can keep his 8 pack, just to impress the ladies. F**k!” Aledos cursed as he watched his friend. "Aledos, you awake. I thought you will be sleeping all day. You would have missed a fun day. Good morning, dumbass.” Kalen got up to greet his friend properly. “Kalen, you better watch it. My head injury healed, so don’t try me. I can still kick your ass if you call me a dumbass again,” Aledos while giving his friend the evil eye. “Damn, Aledos. You are such ungrateful bastard. I was so nice of enough to protect you throughout the night. I even prepared you a ni
The vine was stretched thin as it held the spears in place. With just one laser beam it snapped.BOOM!!!! Kalen saw his hard work go into use. The handmade spears shot up quickly. They didn’t have the same force as the used by the Camelot army, but they still get the job done. They would still inflict enough damage to the sabretooth. The sabretooth sensed the danger it was about to enter. It tried its best to avoid the trap, but it was too late. The spears impaled themselves into its exposed belly. It roars in rage and pain as it felt its bowels and blood flowed out from the wounds.Due to the force and momentum the sabretooth was moving, the spears caused some massive damage to it. The sabretooth was impaled on its belly to its leg.Kalen did not underestimate the sabretooth, knowing it will do it best to get out and continue to attack. He leaped into the air as the sabretooth was falling into the spears stabbing it in the neck with his sword.Blood rained down onto Kalen and the gro
Kalen woke up feeling refreshed. He dreamt of food that would make any person mouth drool. He felt like an emperor watching this most stunning woman served him variety of food and drinks. He woke up and was disappointed not see himself inside of a luxurious palace and no beautiful woman, but the tent they put up with his friend.“That sucks! Why does life hate me so much? I just want something amazing,” he thought in resignation.“One day I will become something like an emperor and have the most beautiful woman that the world has ever seen.” He could not remember most of his dreams, but for some reason he remembers this one and the one he had on the first day of advanced training.Since he was small boy, he always had dreams that were unique. It is said that people dream is meaningful, as they sort out personal conflicts and emotional struggles that they experience within their daily lives. It is backed by science. Kalen always wonder what his dreams are about or come it something dif
After a week of waiting, the award-giving day finally arrived. It was a Monday, and the whole gladiator district was riled up for this day. The spectators could finally see their best gladiators get their awards in the arena. Today, the Neo-Rome team members were going to get the award for their labor of 3 years. After years of only wearing armor and light clothing as gladiators, they were finally going to dress corporately again. Kalen froze in place with a smile on his face, as he stared at his fresh look while dressed in a suit. After so long he finally cut his beard yesterday. It felt funny to him; he already entered the vicious men’s circle of cutting your beard to avoid it looking wild. He was not even sure if Nami would recognize him again if she saw him with a beard. Despite already cutting the beards, the slight sings to indicate that he was a man with beards were still left there. He carefully admired his electric blue suit, as his smile slowly morphed into a grin. Pair
As usual, medical practitioners on white quickly rushed into the arena with a floating stretcher. They brought cleaning bots with them this time, as the blood and gore were quickly sucked and cleaned throughout the arena. Kalen’s unconscious body was carefully placed on the stretcher, as it directly floated back to the medical bay. As the medical practitioners worked, the commentator finally started his ending speech with a smile. “Ladies and gentlemen, my fellow Sea Angels, we now finally have a winner for this gladiator tournament. After these countless difficulties, we finally arrived at our destination.” “The winner of the gladiator tournament this time is the Lone Dragon, he proved his strength today in this arena.” “I won’t waste your time much, I just want to inform you that according to the organizers; if everything goes according to plan, the award-giving ceremony will be held within the week.” “Let’s all come back for this final event, to establish our winner’s status
As the atmosphere grew tenser, gulps left throats unconsciously, and speculations rose higher, the gladiators finally moved. Kalen moved first. As soon as he gathered some strength, he used his spear as a support to lift himself off his opponent’s sword. Spurt!! He closed his eyes while gritting his teeth in pain. More blood flowed out of him, as the sword was roughly yanked out of him. His opponent also flinched in pain, as the spear stirred in his abdomen. Thud!! He dropped down to the ground, as he quickly summoned more strength to roll further away from his opponent. He already grew accustomed to pain after so many years of being a knight. He could not directly say that he liked pain, but at least he could bear a lot of pain. Despite this being the case, the pain that he was currently feeling drove deeper into his inner self. He felt like his body was no longer his own, he felt like his body was just a cage where he was receiving torture. He could not help it, as tears flow
The huge energy that was covering the arena slowly opened, as the 2 strongest gladiators entered without hesitation. World Destroyer slowly took off his helmet, as he faced his opponent with a curious smile on his face. Unlike his opponent’s solemn expression, his was complete opposite, he had a calm look on his face. “Magician, you surprised me yet again. I didn’t think you would have the guts to fight me again. Last time we fought, you did put up with great fight, but you know I am going to kill you. I promise you will regret your decision of walking into this arena.” He slowly said with a smile. Kalen didn’t reply, as his blood was already feeling hot for this fight. He had no time nor luxury to reply to foolish questions. He didn’t come here to discuss, at least he didn’t have that luxury like his opponent. He had an uphill and almost impossible target to overcome, he was ready to put his all. “Enough bullshit! You will know soon enough which one of us is the best. Now, let’s
Today was the day, that will determine who the strongest gladiator from this tournament. Today was the day that justify all the bloodshed and deaths throughout the past year, in the gladiator arena. Kalen entered the gladiator armory in a solemn mood, as he went forward to where the weapons were kept. On seeing the empty, grey-colored cold chamber, he could not help but feel a sense of emptiness. For weeks now, he had been training to get the required level to win this fight. He did not know why he was anticipating it, but he felt that he would benefit a lot if he emerged as the winner of this fight. Though his thoughts were numerous, they quickly cleared up as he advanced to the spear section of the armory. He stood before the large row of spears, before falling into a daze. Spears spread for as far as his eyes could see. From short spears to long spears, to broad, to thin spears, every type of spear was available. His hands extended forward, as he firmly grabbed the long spea
The days moved forward just like chess pieces that were being randomly shifted by a chess player. After months of preparations fights, the date for the individual tournament finals has been finally scheduled. After the end of the team tournament, the gladiators on the teams who won were already eligible to take their awards. Despite this, they don’t get them immediately, as the Sea Angels Alliance extended the award ceremony to the week after the end of the individual fight fights. ********************************************************** Bam!! Kalen’s spear stabbed forward in quick succession, as his opponent hastily raised his spear to parry the strike. His hand blurred, as the stab was quickly converted into a sideways slash. Kane narrowly blocked the strike again, but the force exerted by his vice-captain still pushed him back. As Kalen rushed forward to finish him off, Kane’s teammates finally recovered as he quickly slashed his sword forward in retaliation. Whoosh!! Dere

The large fleet of vehicles slowly coming into the compound surprised the now freed gladiators, but they suppressed their curiosity and went forward to meet the General. “Good evening, General.” They all greeted respectfully. “Haha, that’s my soldiers.” The General responded with a loud laugh that was unusual for someone of his status, as he went forward to pat them on the shoulders. “Congrats, y’all didn’t disappoint my expectations. Though it is shame we couldn’t get the 1st place position but taking the 3rd place position is already commendable. “My Captain already told you, sometimes ago that we would not shy in terms of rewards if you won the tournament of you ranks, we intend to keep our word.” “Now, taking 3rd place can be seen as you winning to us, so today, I’ll present the awards that we prepared for everyone.” The Neo-Rome Captain finally came forward and placed an exotic metal box before his General. He opened the box quick
Nami dd not have much to arrange, she just came back to get some of the essential things that she could not leave behind. As she arranged, her mind could not help but drift again to a frail-looking imagination of her mom. At this age where medical technology already advanced so enormously, her being called for indicated how serious her mom’s situation was. There was no way it was a normal illness, which only made her more anxious. “What is so serious that I had to be called for?” She questioned herself again doubtfully. It didn’t take too long before she was finally ready, as she turned around to go. She changed from her old suit into a new suit that she got recently, to present herself in a fresh outlook. Not long after, she finally arrived back at the parade grounds. She was not surprised to still see the summoned horde of knights all standing at their positions in attention. There was no way these guys would leave their positions until orde
