Chapter Four

Lycans have already been existing centuries ago. These beings turn into savage beasts every full moon. The only time that they are week is on a rare crimson full moon. At this time, they can be vulnerable to any of their enemies like normal human beings.

Adrianus is the Alpha of his bloodline, a notorious leader whom people always try to please out of fear for their lives and not from respect.

Although Adrianus himself is the strongest and the most powerful creature everyone has ever imagined, not all bows to him. The vampires from Italia were sent running for their lives when Adrianus and his best men or should we say Were-beasts wage a devastating attack in their lair. These creatures were banished and have found themselves hunted all over the world. They are still powerful enough to fight back if they want to but they chose to lay low to avoid more casualties. Yes, casualties. Vampires are immortal but just don’t separate their heads from their bodies. A lot of people thought that using a silver dagger and plunging one in the heart of a vampire can kill it, but no, this method only puts them to hibernation. This was one of the mistakes done by Adrianus and his army. That is why although they have won against their immortal enemies, it took half of their population being killed.

If only Adrianus planned a well-organized attack, and think clearly, and did not initiate a reckless campaign against the enemy, it would’ve not happened.

Eloy was very young back then. He stays with her mother and with his younger brother Viktor. They were forced to train at a young age together with their peers. Esmeralda, one of their peers, grew up together with Eloy and Viktor.

The three have become stronger through hard training but Viktor excelled than Eloy and Esmeralda. But wait, Eloy is no joke at all. Though Viktor became better than him, he is way more powerful than him but does not realize it yet.

Esmeralda bloomed and became a goddess of a sight to behold, but their mentor was hard on her and keep telling her that she is not good enough. Maybe because the elders threaten her as an abomination. Seed of a Lycan and a sorcerer, a half breed, a weak one.

This fact did not bother the two brothers. They both fell in love with her.

Esmeralda’s mother is the greatest sorceress in their time but magic and enchantment were deemed to be a dirty trick only used by assassins and tyrants against indomitable beings.

Esmeralda with her red hair looks like the crimson moon, like the crimson moon Eloy and Viktor cannot resist being weak because of their feeling for her.

Viktor is a confident lad and as handsome as his big brother Eloy. Unlike his big brother, Viktor has a high tolerance for other people. If somebody makes a mistake or has issues with Eloy, he cannot control himself and was usually involved in a brawl. Maybe this attitude of Eloy made Esmeralda more comfortable with Viktor. Although Viktor has feelings for her, his feelings cannot be compared with Eloy’s adoration and love for Esmeralda. The truth is, Eloy keeps himself at bay when he knew that Esmeralda has decided to choose Viktor over him. Eloy kept his feelings for her untold. Maybe that is part of the reason why Esmeralda really chose Viktor over him?

Eloy even protects his younger brother and her against their strict and cruel father, Adrianus.

He knows that if he finds out about the relationship of the two, they will be punished. And he knew that the punishment would claim their lives.

“Eloy. What is with the long face?” Esmeralda holds his cheeks with her soft hands cheering him up.

“Nothing milady,” Eloy answered as he stood up and turns his back against her.

There was silence. The looks like they are waiting for who will be the first one to speak.

But as each of them is going to talk, both of them halted.

“There you are!” Viktor arrives and hops down his white horse. He immediately approaches the two.

Viktor embraces Esmeralda and kisses her on the forehead.

“Keep your acts at bay warriors, our father has eyes everywhere, sooner or later he would discover your intimate relationship and you know that he would not tolerate such acts,” Eloy warns them as he walks away.

“I promise to protect you no matter what. Even if I had to face the wrath of my father.” Viktor comforts Esmeralda as she starts to sob in tears. She knew that from the start that she is not fully accepted as a Lycan warrior because she is not a pure breed. Her mother is the daughter of the greatest sorcerer who has ever lived in Romania. Her family did not have good ties with the Lycans because they had made a truce with the vampires making the werewolves at the disadvantage.

Adrianus killed Esmeralda’s grandfather with his bare hands making him an example of what will happen to those who help and plans to side with their enemies.

Eloy is watching Viktor and Esmeralda as they went on their way. He saw one of his father’s men spying on them and killed it. He did this to protect his brother and the love of his life.

Eloy is unselfish. His love for Esmeralda is so genuine enough that he lets his younger brother be her mate because he knew how Esmeralda truly feels for Viktor.

Eloy did not know that there was someone who saw what he did to one of his father’s men.

The news reach Adrianus’ ears and made him angry.

The man asked him for a reward for this information and it did not go well for that man.

“Reward?” Adrianus stood up and roared at the man.

The man was startled and slowly walks backward.

“I am sorry my Lord. I was just wondering if I … if I …No! Please don’t!” The man screamed as Adrianus turns into a beast in front of him.

Adrianus’ men shut the door behind them and the man continued screaming as he was eaten alive by the ferocious beast.

At last, there was silence. One of his servants opened the door and sends other servants to clean up the mess.

Adrianus sat down on his throne and close his eyes for a while and thought to himself, “but why? Of all people.”
