A maid had been assigned to Heyli and a guard was placed in her room to watch her while the maid took care of her. Even after everything, she still wasn't trusted. Alex had asked that they gave her a few days before trusting her. "She was manipulated by that rogue of a man. We can never know." They were all going to the drawing room as Athena had asked them all to sit there. Ciara was sleepy so she excused herself and went to sleep. Once the door to the drawing room was shut, Daniel spoke. "I asked Damien to leave the rogues to us," Alex took a seat beside Athena and threw his arm around her. "Why?" "We can study them better and with your help, there'd be great progress." Athena immediately turned to Alex. "Are you leaving tomorrow?" "Of course not," Alex said. "I'm staying for a few weeks. Remember you have to find your wolf." Athena sighed and relieved as she thought that Alex had changed his mind behind her back. But that was not the case a
Damien's expression darkened when he saw Alex standing in the middle of the room. He stopped at the threshold. "What are you doing here by this time?" Athena asked, frowning. "I came to check up on you. See if you're safe." Damien said in a low tone. "Well, as you can see, I am safe. The girl is not dangerous." "She's feral," Damien stamped that statement in his mind like he was never to agree that she was otherwise. "We don't even know her history. What if she's here to monitor us?" Athena, for the first time, laughed. "Why not focus on your duties rather than butting into mine?" Damien sighed and his eyes darted to Alex who was standing by the window with a knowing smile on his face. "I'm sorry that I am. But I'm your beta and it is me who bears all the burden of knowing if you're safe and not him." "That's going to change very soon," Alex said and straightened. As he strode towards them, his hand slipped into his pocket. He stood confidently beside
Daniel found himself in the kitchen, asking around for a cup of tea and unsweetened biscuits. As he weaved past the multitude of maids that cleaned the dishes and prepared breakfast, he bumped into a plump woman who seemed to be the chief chef of this place. "Watch where you're going, young man," She said in her extremely loud voice. "What are you doing here?" "My wife is having morning sickness and she has been vomiting. I don't know what is going to make her relieved," The lady nodded and asked him to wait and a few moments later, she returned with a transparent jug of green tea and a plate containing crackers. "Make sure she takes a few cups of this tea. She can supplement it with these crackers to make things easier. Make sure she eats enough. And she should also rest for the day. You're a guest, yes?" "Of course." "I'd advise you not to travel today. It's going to make her really sick." Daniel sighed. He gave into fate. "Alright, thank you."
It was bright outside so Dimitri had opted to stay inside his mansion. This mansion was located in the thick of the woods and surrounded by tall trees with stratas that covered almost every part of the building. This was their base and where they planned most of the time. Dimitri's boot left thuds in his wake as he paced about in his large sitting room. Two men were seated on a couch before him and they waited for him to speak. "She's not returned since last night and it's getting me worried." "I understand. Have you checked to see if your mind is still linked to her?" One of the men asked. "It's broken,"Dimitri said with disappointment in his voice. "I couldn't connect back to her. They already walked into her mind." "That's fucked up, Dimitri. How are we going to attack again? They seem to become smarter each time we attack," Dimitri sighed. "We need to devise another means." "How about Trey?" Dimitri scoffed. "He's as stupid as anything. I wonder
Ciara's eyes cracked open and when she stared out of the window, she noticed that it was already day time. She felt a bit energized but there was a general weakness in all of her joints. Knowing that she would be alright if she climbed out of bed, she threw back her covers and climbed out of her bed. The first thing that caught her eyes was a tray filled with food. She raised a brow in confusion as to why there was a tray of food sitting on the bedside table not until she remembered that Daniel had promised to get her breakfast. She slapped her forehead in frustration. She had probably gone into a deep sleep as she was sure that Daniel had brought her the food and had probably tried waking her up to no avail. The food had gone cold and Daniel was nowhere to be found so she threw on a robe and walked out of the room. She noticed that the corridor was quite empty as everyone if the guests that had been at the party last night had all gone home. Remembering that she had
Alexander and Athena stared at three of the men. They had already found the culprit but out of anger, Athena had asked that they locked the three men up. Tomorrow was going to be the day of execution and the culprit would be called out. The men had been thrown into the dungeon as Athena had commanded and after that, she had called for a meeting with the cabinet members. Damien sat beside her as usual but on her other side was Alexander so she was flanked by the two men. Damien had been silent and only speaking when he was asked to. He never made any suggestions whatsoever. "We have to fortify the building. Human technology isn't enough," Jayman said. Jayman was the new minister for security and he had been appointed by Athena. "And what is your suggestion, Jayman?" Athena asked in her authoritative voice. "I suggest that we include spiritual means into this whole security of a thing. The walls, electricity and cameras are not enough. We need some sort of magi
The meeting had ended in a heated argument and Alex had left angrily. He walked out of the hall angrily as he thought about why a bunch of old stupid men were chosen to be cabinet members. It was absolutely ridiculous and he was going to speak to Athena about it after the meeting. She needed young blood mixed with a few older men who knew what progress meant. Shaking his head, he took the steps up the first floor. He was so deep in thought that he didn't see one of the maids coming down the steps with a pile of laundry that covered her face. The clash was disastrous as the tall pile of clothing fell down the steps. The maid lost footing but Alexander was quick to grab her by the waist to stop her from stumbling down the stairs. "Oh my goodness!" The lady squeaked as she grabbed Alex's arms for support. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you coming," Alex said as he stood her up properly. "Kali?" He recognized her from her sheer green eyes and plump lips he had enjoyed kissi
Ciara decided that after having lunch with Heyli, she needed to show the little girl around while also taking a walk to stretch her legs. She hadn't seen Daniel all afternoon and it seemed like he was really busy so she decided that spending a little time with Heyli wasn't a bad thing after all. After lunch, both women took a walk around the garden and Ciara almost bled her ears out from listening to Heyli gush about the beauty of the garden. The next place she took Heyli to was the training grounds. "This place is where warriors train?" Heyli asked. "That's smart of you,"Ciara commended. She made sure to sprinkle compliments here and there. Heyli seemed to have been starved of it from a young age and it was a way to build her confidence. "This is where warriors train every morning and evening. They're all gone to their duty posts. The first set trains in the morning while the second set does the morning shift and vice versa. They also interchange. Would you like to join?"
