Because of the two lovebirds earlier, I had to cancel my intention to spend a long time in the pool area.
I shuddered in disgust as I imagined what they were doing there.
Oh God, could the pool water be contaminated by them? I couldn't imagine swimming in the pool water they had used. Instantly, a feeling of nausea swept over me.
"Are you hungry?" Jeni asked, still faithfully following my steps.
"Not really, maybe I need an isotonic drink." I replied, because that's what I needed right now. My body's fluid levels had decreased drastically after witnessing that steamy scene. Oh darn, I was thinking about that disgusting thing again.
"In that case, let's go to the cafeteria." Jeni suggested, pulling my hand once more.
"Wait, Jen, could you please take me to the swimming club room first? I'm not very familiar with all the locations here, and unfortunately, I left my map in the classroom earlier." I asked for her help, hoping she would agree, since Jeni was the only person I could talk to on my first day at NYHS.
"Sure, I'll take you there." I guessed she would be willing to help.
I walked alongside Jeni, trying to remember the way. It turned out that the swimming club room was passed through the library. I wanted to enter, but I couldn't bear to make Jeni even hungrier.
Maybe I could visit the library tomorrow.
Jeni stopped in her tracks, and I followed suit.
"Why?" I asked, puzzled by the direction of Jeni's gaze, which seemed confused.
"I just remembered, Maudy won't be coming to school for a few days," she answered, making me raise both my eyebrows. Maudy? Who was she, and what did she have to do with the club?
"And then?"
"She's the head of the swimming club, and she's my cousin." she answered, finally helping me understand.
"We can ask the vice president or other members about it, right?"
"No, when it comes to new members, Maudy doesn't want others to get involved." Jeni replied, making me slightly disappointed because I really wanted to join the club quickly so that I could swim to my heart's content there.
"Don't worry, Maudy will like you, and you'll definitely be accepted right away." Jeni continued, making me nod again.
And now, I was really thirsty. Why did NYHS have to be this vast? It took me ten minutes to walk from the club room to the cafeteria.
"What drink would you like?" Jeni asked when we arrived at the cafeteria, and I immediately took a seat in an empty chair. My legs were really sore; I would soak them in warm water when I got home from school. Yeah, that was a good idea.
"I think I'm hungry this time." I whispered with a smile.
"Okay, then. Just wait, and I'll pick out food and drinks for you." Jeni said, then grabbed the red tray available in the pantry area.
I slightly leaned forward to massage my calves and ankles. Why were they so sore? Have I been inactive? Yeah, I guess so. I'm not too fond of exercising, like running or going to the gym, but swimming isn't bad either. Maybe because it's in the water, I never feel tired at all. Ah, I don't know.
I glanced around the cafeteria, looking for Jeni. She was taking quite a while, and I really needed a drink. I was about to stand up from my seat when my body froze as I realized who had just entered the cafeteria.
Why did my legs suddenly feel so heavy? I remained seated, staring at the guy with his hazel eyes. He walked followed by a few people behind him. Wait, the girl, I still vividly remembered who that girl was.
My brain worked twice as fast, and now I understood. So, the two lovebirds in the pool were actually him, the werewolf guy, with the girl who had casually hung on his arm. It was evident from their slightly damp hair.
"Where are you going?" Jeni's voice snapped me back to reality, and I looked in her direction. She was now standing in front of the table with a tray of food and drinks.
"Oh, I was just looking for you." I answered, then turned my gaze back towards the group of werewolf guys who had taken seats at a large round table in the middle of the cafeteria. I furrowed my brows in confusion. That table seemed different from the rest, and I had only realized it when I saw that the other tables were square and not as large, while the round, big table was positioned in the center of the cafeteria.
"What are you looking at?" Once again, Jeni redirected my focus towards her, handing me a bottle of isotonic drink.
"Who's he?" I asked, curious.
"Who?" Jeni asked, following my gaze now.
"The one sitting with the girl on his lap," I inquired again.
"He's a werewolf."
"Seriously?"
"I've never been more serious."
"I don't see fur, tail, or fangs on him," I said, although I had initially considered him to be like a werewolf.
"Come on, you need to be his target first to see the wolf in him."
"Target? Prey?"
"Yes, and I don't recommend it. Don't ever get close to him. Maintain a minimum distance of two meters, or he'll truly mark you."
I blinked a few times, trying to gather my thoughts that had drifted far away to the previous day. Minimum distance of two meters.
I smacked my forehead, feeling completely resigned to being marked.
"Are you okay?" Jeni asked, noticing my silly behavior. And the answer was no, I wasn't okay.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Why do you call him a werewolf?" I was curious about the nickname Jeni gave him, which was exactly the same as the one I had imagined. This meant I wasn't alone in thinking of him as a werewolf.
Jeni struggled to swallow her sandwich before sipping the water in front of her, then answered my question, which I was eagerly waiting for.
"Because he does resemble a werewolf. Not that I mean he's literally a werewolf." Jeni explained, confusing me even more.
"He's Alpha Gray Wolfin. You know what I mean." Jeni asked, and I quickly nodded, understanding the name. Even the name of a gray wolf seemed to fit his grayish eye color and his wolf companion.
"And you must know that just by his name, we can already guess that he's the leader of the other werewolves." Jeni clarified, causing me to once again look at the round table in front of me. I tilted my head slightly, as Jeni's position blocked part of my view.
"So, why are they sitting there?" I asked again, my curiosity skyrocketing when it came to discussing the werewolf guy.
"That's their spot, they even have a room that serves as some sort of headquarters for their gang." I became even more curious about who they really were.
"Who are they, actually?"
"What's certain is that they hold higher positions than us, they have power in their hands, so they can easily get away with causing trouble."
"Causing trouble, they?"
"Yes, they do. One of them even got caught with drugs and had a sex party, but they managed to get away with it." I covered my wide-open mouth in shock. I was prepared for the Western lifestyle in this area before I actually made the decision to move to New York, but I didn't expect it to be this bad.
"And Gray's intervention always saves them." Jeni continued. Oh, so his nickname is Gray. I grew more curious and tried to sneak another peek at them. I was genuinely taken aback when the werewolf guy named Gray was passionately kissing the girl in his lap.
What kind of school did I enter? I inwardly grimaced.
But I was even more shocked when his sharp gray eyes locked onto Jeni's direction—no, more precisely, at me. He was staring right at me, and he immediately broke off the kiss.
Stupidly, I remained frozen, meeting his gaze. As he rose from his seat and walked towards me, my heart pounded in my chest.
"Jen, I have to go, my class is about to start." I said hastily, attempting to run before Gray reached our table.
"Your food, Aurel!" Jeni shouted.
"Just for you." I replied, then took a thousand steps to exit the cafeteria.
"Where should we run, Aurelya? Come on, think fast," I kept taking long strides, leaving the cafeteria behind, hoping the gray wolf leader wouldn't chase after me. Is that the meaning of his name? In a panic like this, how can I think about the meaning of his name? Oh well, what were his parents thinking when they named him? Did his parents also have unique names like theirs? Red Wolf or White Wolf, oh, whatever, Aurelya, you're overthinking. Now, think about where you'll go because the new class will start in twenty minutes. I can't just wait in the classroom for that long.My steps came to a halt right in the middle of the corridor. Which way should I go? Ah, damn, I'm not good at remembering the layout. Oh yeah, signs and directions. What a dumbass. Why didn't I notice the signs earlier? Twenty minutes, that's the time I have. Alright, I guess it's enough time to take a look around NYHS's library. I was about to step forward following the directional sign to the library when my arm
Damn, what's wrong with me? It's hot and incredibly painful. I remember this sensation. I experienced it last weekend, and it feels the same. I struggle to walk slowly towards my room. Even taking steps is difficult. Sweat is starting to drench my entire body. My blood feels like it's boiling, ready to burn me to ashes. And finally, I can't endure this pain anymore. I collapse on my bedroom floor, my breathing heavy. Someone's grip tightens around my neck, making it hard for me to breathe. All I can do is clench my fists and try to control myself as the sound of the door being forcefully opened interrupts my concentration."Gray, what's happening to you?" I can't even answer Brenda's question. I can only see her concerned face."Damn it, I need to do something," she says, and then a blue light radiates from Brenda's hand. She's my sister, capable of doing anything with her powers. Unlike me, who's now writhing in pain in front of my sister.Brenda directs her power towards my chest, a
"How was your first day of school?" Rex asks while occasionally glancing at me before returning his attention to the road ahead."Not too bad," I reply, still in my comfortable position, leaning back in the car seat with my head against the headrest."Did something bad happen?" Rex questions. Ah, he's my best cousin, always able to tell when my mood is either good or bad."If I said yes, could you take care of transferring me to another school?" I ask hopefully, even though I know Rex's answer will likely be no."Is something bothering you?" he asks again, this time with a serious expression. Yeah, something is bothering me, and unfortunately, I've felt his gaze on me, especially in the school parking lot earlier. He looked at me like a piece of meat ready to be devoured at any moment."No, it's just that the school is too big. Even on my first day, I got lost three times," I respond nonchalantly, making Rex chuckle before ruffling my hair."If something's bothering you, just say it."
"Rex, I'm just going to stay in the dorm.""No.""I'll find an apartment.""No.""Then I'll buy a bike.""No," Rex replies, standing by the car before opening the door, causing my steps to halt as I follow him."Can you answer anything other than 'no'?" I exclaim, frustrated, holding the straps of my backpack tightly."No," he replies for the umpteenth time, fueling my irritation."Fine, then I'll just walk to school." After uttering those words, I start walking past him. However, my steps are halted when Rex easily grabs my backpack and pulls it back, causing me to stop in front of him again."Get in, I'll take you!" he says, making me fold my arms and glare at him."For how long will you keep driving me, Rex? I don't want to keep disrupting your work schedule. It's better if I buy a bike." I answer, as sometimes Rex has to wake up early or take time off work to drive me to school, which makes me uncomfortable. I'm not a kid anymore; I'm seventeen, and the distance between home and s
I was transfixed by the blue light emanating from my palm, a simple power I've controlled since birth. In our nation, there's nothing special about it except to humans, who'd consider me a trivial deity. But this time, it feels different, as I sense the energy flow from this power. "Are you fighting him again?" The voice causes the light to fade as I turn to face Rex, who's approaching."I'm too bored just to play with women," I reply curtly, and Rex's face hardens. He, a newly resurrected human in our race, now looks at me with disdain. Even he, with his half-wolf blood, was resurrected before me, a pureblood."You'll make Brenda face your father again," he says, and I glance at him from the corner of my eye. I try to summon my power again; the blue flames reappear, silencing Rex."You're still worried about my sister?""I just don't want her to deal with your mess again," his response almost makes me laugh. I turn to him, blue flames in my hands. Without warning, I hurl them at Rex
I can't understand what's with the students here. How can they just be spectators when some of them are about to kill each other? Even now, my knees are still weak, and my hands are trembling from watching the fight earlier. I don't know which gray wolf fought with the ash-gray one, but they were both equally strong. They were evenly matched; when one struck, the other retaliated.I abandon the idea of going to the music room and end up sitting on a bench in the park, sipping mineral water until it's gone, hoping to calm my trembling."What are you doing here?"Byurrrrr."Sorry, sorry, I didn't know you were drinking," Jeni apologizes, feeling guilty, and I wipe my wet mouth, staring sharply at her."You startled me.""Sorry," she replies with a wide grin."What are you doing here?" she asks again."Calming down," I m
For some reason, my hands keep brushing against my slightly swollen lower lip as a result of... I don't want to remember that embarrassing incident, but for some reason, my brain seems to be malfunctioning, replaying that event over and over.Arghhh, darn it. Come on, Aurel, close your eyes and go to sleep. I roll over and try to hug the round hamster-shaped stuffed toy beside me. This stuffed toy was my last birthday gift from my father. Usually, when I'm restless, hugging this round toy helps calm me down. But something's different this time. Even though I've been counting time, minutes have passed, and Gray's memory still keeps spinning in my mind.I try to take a deep breath and close my eyes, but the sound of the door opening makes me abandon my attempt to fall back asleep. I sit up slightly and look towards my half-open bedroom door, where Aunt Anna is gazing at me."Aunty thought yo
I truly couldn't believe that I was in the midst of the crowd that I had already imagined in my head."Jen, promise you won't ever leave me here," I said a bit loudly, as the annoyingly loud music seemed to be enjoyed by everyone except me."Hey, I would never leave you. Cross my heart," she replied, raising her five fingers to emphasize her point, which made me raise an eyebrow."What's with the look? You doubt that I'd risk the most precious thing in my life? My fingers, I mean. They're valuable because without them, I wouldn't be a famous violinist – that's my dream," she explained, which finally made me nod.Jeni pulled me further into the crowd, and we ended up in the backyard of Maudy's house, which I found to be quite spacious. I was sure that Maudy's family was wealthy, judging from the size of the house and the luxurious surroundings."Hey, I thought you wouldn't s
Gray continued to gaze at Aurel, who had been unconscious for nearly two days. Despite having her examined by a doctor, Gray remained restless until he was sure that Aurel would awaken."Do we need to call a healer from Wentira?" Brenda asked, but Gray shook his head."I don't want to deal with Wentira for now, even though I'm certain that Alpha King is aware of the chaos I caused in Plantea. I just want you to find another way," Gray replied, prompting Brenda to glance at Rex, who was equally concerned about Aurel's condition."The doctor said Aurel was exhausted," Brenda explained."Exhausted to the point of being unconscious for two days?" Gray questioned, prompting Brenda to sigh deeply."In that case, you better rest too during this week. You've been expending your powers aimlessly. After that, you can ensure Aurel's well-being," Brenda advised, and Gray nodded. She then took Rex out of the room, leaving Gray to do whatever he wished with his mate.Gray extended his hand, gently
They immediately turned to look at Vlad, who was now among them."Good job, Vlad. Have you already obtained your Mate?" Erebus asked, making Vlad look at him with a flat expression."Yes, I've found her, but I have no intention of eliminating her," Vlad replied, causing Erebus to gaze at him questioningly."Don't tell me you're tempted again by a face that resembles Luna's. You should have eliminated her because that woman is the one who hurt you," Erebus taunted, making Vlad visibly angry."Stop your nonsense. You only instructed me to keep her away from that wolf, and I've done just that. So, stop pressuring me because I owe you nothing, and I'm not your lackey," Vlad retorted, then turned his gaze towards Gray."And as for you, you're a pathetic mate who can't even protect your own partner," Vlad said, deliberately provoking Gray's emotions."You damn vampire really can only boast and say foolish things. Don't you know who you're dealing with?" Gray responded. Without further ado,
Vlad immediately halted his steps as he approached the castle, even though he hadn't entered his own castle yet. He could already sense that the scent of Aurel was no longer in the vicinity, causing him to quickly rush inside. He opened the door to Aurel's previously occupied room, only to find it empty. Similarly, there was no trace of Loma's aroma in his castle. Vlad growled in frustration, clenching his fists and tightening his jaw."Damn siren really took Aurel away," Vlad muttered to himself before resuming his search. If they had recently left, it meant they were still within the Naighthell territory. Vlad couldn't afford to let Aurel slip away after the grave mistake he had made before.Vlad still hesitated to meet Aurel face to face, fearing that she would be scared and hate him. That's why Vlad had been trying to make Aurel accustomed to living in the castle with him before he decided to confront her. However, before his plan could come to fruition, Loma had already spirited
"Damn, why do they have to look for me?" Loma muttered as she continued to run through the corridors of Vlad's castle. Earlier, Loma had made sure Vlad had left the castle to meet Erebus, so this was her chance to escape. Loma didn't want to break her promise to Vlad, but her condition forced her to leave. She couldn't continue to be trapped in Vlad's place with her diminishing powers.A while ago, Loma received word that a group of people was searching for her in the Plantae territory. Luckily, she got the message in time and didn't go to meet Sherman. Loma then stopped in front of the door to Aurel's new room. If she left here, it meant she had to leave the human. Loma thought about it but came up with an idea that might benefit her.Consider it payment for taking care of Aurel all this time, and maybe bringing Aurel with her could be an advantage. So, Loma finally opened the door, revealing Aurel, who was working on a canvas she had given him earlier."Are you painting?" Loma asked
POV Gray"I've found it," Lilith said, causing me to immediately turn and look in her direction. Without waiting any longer, I approached her and asked for an explanation."Tell me," I said. After almost four days of patiently waiting, Lilith had finally returned from the Ocean territory with good news."Have you found out who's been using the Siren poison?" This time it was Brenda who asked."Yes, over the past few weeks, there's only been one person who appeared to be using that poison, and it's the Siren who was previously expelled from the Ocean," Lilith replied, making me raise an eyebrow as I looked at her."Don't tell me they're a fugitive Siren?" I asked, making Lilith raise her eyebrows in response."Yes, call it whatever you want, but the good news is, I know who it is," Lilith answered."In that case, tell me. I don't want to waste any time. I need to find Aurel," I said, my impatience clear as it had been over a week since I couldn't reach my mate, driving me nearly insane
**Aurel's Point of View**I jolted as once again the door to the room opened without warning, revealing Loma carrying food for me."I think I'm gaining weight if you keep bringing me food," I said, causing Loma to shrug nonchalantly."Just eat while you still can eat peacefully," Loma replied as I took the food and looked at her with a raised eyebrow."What do you mean?" I asked."Nothing, just... forget it. Didn't you say you wanted to move out of this room?" Loma asked, making me stop and nod enthusiastically."Yes. Did someone allow me to move from this room?" I asked, seeking confirmation, making Loma nod."Yes, you're lucky because maybe he's in a good mood. He allowed me to take you to a room that's not too spacious but probably more comfortable," Loma answered, making me smile."Does the new room have a window, at least? Let me breathe some fresh air. I've lost track of how long I've been trapped here, maybe a week, two weeks. I can't see the sun, the moon, or anything. I might
Erebus looked disapprovingly at the man in front of him with a crystal glass containing a red liquid which was his favorite food "where did you get it?" Erebus asked, making Vlad immediately lift the crystal glass "Why do I like it so much?" said Vlad again, staring at the blood"You prey on humans, I'm sure it's not animal blood?" Erebus asked again making Vlad nod his head "Yes, you guessed right, this is very sweet human blood, it's rare for me to be able to eat this much," he said again, making Erebus immediately look at him with a questioning look."Did you go to the human world and make a mess there?" Erebus asked making Vlad just shrug his shoulders indifferently "What do you mean, I'm not the one who wants it, the human himself is crazy about me and is willing for you to give his blood voluntarily. I can't refuse, isn't that too good to miss?" said Vlad who then took a sip of the blood in the glass. Meanwhile, Erebus just silent while watching him"Then what do you want to
Loma opened the large door in front of her and stared at a man who was standing with his back to her, paying attention to a painting that he didn't know how long he had been staring at. "How long are you going to hold him?" Loma asked, making the man still not budge"It hasn't even been a week yet but he's already whining to go home he's worried about his family" Loma said again making the man finally respond, he immediately turned to look at loma who looked at him with a questioning look "You can hold it in longer, right?" He said, making Loma just roll her eyes lazily"Detain him and give unreasonable reasons. You even put him in the basement," Loma said again "That's a special dungeon that's not like a prison dungeon, I even provide good facilities for you because I'm sure he as a human needs other needs unlike us" he said making Loma again not know how to think"Yes, that's why. Because he's human, he needs something else. Not only cooped up in that stuffy room. I, who have bee
Pov Brenda It's been more than three days when Aurel suddenly disappeared, making Gray really look messy and not only that even Rex looks the same, the two of them are constantly looking for Aurel's whereabouts, I settled on Rex who had been still trying to contact Aurel's cellphone even though I said it was useless because whoever brought Aura at this time they would have gotten rid of his cellphone. Again the curses that came out of Rex's mouth made me finally come closer "I told you there was no point in calling Aurel's cell phone," I said, which made Rex immediately look at me in annoyance "I hope if there is good news that I can get in case he just turned off his cell phone" Rex replied making me finally sit next to him I stroked his arm making Rex continue to focus on his cell phone, I don't know how many messages he has sent on Aurel's cell phone not active "We've tried, we'll wait for news from Thunder and Simon," I said "Then I also have to move" Said Rex who was about to
