Leave me alone

In the car, Eleonor is looking out the window, refusing to look directly at Giovanni. He has pushed her into the car that he's driving himself. She didn't even know he was capable of getting into a car without a driver, but he's relaxed, driving the sports car with just one hand, in a silence so intense it could be palpable.

Every so often, she feels his eyes on her body. Maybe he's angry because she's wearing a red dress when she refuses to wear it when he asks. Or because she was about to submit to a complete stranger, when she made it clear that she would never submit to her own husband. That should be enough, right? Giovanni is a proud man… he shouldn't accept such behavior, especially when there's a clause about public appearances.

She remembers the clause, like a broken record:
