VIOLET

“Fuck my life.”

I cursed underneath my breath, scrambling to my feet. If it was truly rogues, then staying there would spell my doom. I didn’t waste any time and began running in the opposite direction from the howls.

The cold wind whipped past my face but I didn’t care all too much. All that mattered to me was escaping from them with my life. That was all that was important to me. That was all I cared about. That was all I wanted.

My legs ached with each step I took but I knew I couldn’t dare slow down my pace. Any false step would mean my death. I’d suffered and endured so much these past few days. I couldn’t let it all end here. My fingers were clinging hard onto my bag as I sought to quicken my pace.

My heart began thumping faster as the howls began getting closer. They’d taken notice of me. It would be better if I could transform now and run but it would only slow me down and give them an advantage over me.

I could hear the sound of their growls getting closer and closer. The thud of their feet hitting the ground filled my ears. They were right behind me and I could feel the bloodlust emanating from there. They were definitely after my blood.

I increased my speed and began running faster, picking up the pace as best as I could. I was so engulfed in getting away from them, I didn’t bother taking note of where I was running to. All I could think of was getting away from them.

After some time of running, I noticed I couldn’t hear the sound of their growls. There were no thuds coming from behind me. I slowed down to a stop and looked behind me. They were gone.

“Fucking idiots.” I clicked my tongue, trying to catch my breath.

My chest hurt so bad from running so fast. On the bright side, at least I had managed to escape them. I still didn’t understand why they’d stopped chasing me all of a sudden. Rogues were known to chase down their prey to the ends of the earth.

I pushed away the weird feeling gnawing at my chest and tightened my grip on the bag. I had no idea where I was at all. Just as I was about to bring out the map and try to decipher my whereabouts, my whole body froze.

It was pure primal instinct for an animal to know when it was being watched. I could feel it deep in my bones and didn’t even need anyone to spell it out for me. I wasn’t alone. A low guttural sound made me snap my head to a nearby bush. More growls sounded from all around me.

A small gasp escaped my lips as I watched a number of wolves walk out from different directions. Soon enough, I was surrounded by all of them. I tried to step back but there was one behind me.

I was really in for it now.

The biggest of them, a big black wolf walked up to her and stopped just a little away from her. She felt the urge to flinch back in fear but held her ground. She hadn’t done anything wrong. If it came to it, she would not be going down without a fight.

“Who are you? What do you want from me?” She yelled out to them.

The black wolf growled in response, its eyes glaring at her intently. For a second, she was sure it would definitely attack. What she didn’t expect was for it to slowly shift back into human form. The tall man walked closer to her, eyeing her up and down with a look of suspicion in his eyes.

“I think we’re the ones who should be asking you that.”

The other wolves shifted into a group of men, all of them watching her intently. She had to resist the urge to squirm under their intense gaze. The man in front of her was probably contemplating if he should just kill her off. Her heart sped up at that thought.

“Check her bag.” He said to one of the other men.

The blonde hair man grabbed her bag forcefully and emptied out its contents on the floor. They probably had no interest in what they saw and turned back to her, annoyance reading all over their facial expressions.

“Who do you work for? What allegiance do you serve?” He threw a barrel of questions at her, not giving her the chance to muster a single answer.

“I-

“You’ll be coming with us.”

Without giving me a chance to defend myself, the others grabbed me and began dragging me with them.

“Hey. Wait one second. This isn’t what you think. Who are you? And where the hell am I?”

They didn’t bother answering any of my questions and just dragged me along with them. My heart beat sped up as various scenarios ran through my head. Where were they taking me to? Who were they? I’d heard of people getting kidnapped this way. Was the same thing happening to me? Would I be whisked off to heaven knows where? My body parts sold off?

I tried fighting out of their grip once again and the black hair man turned to glare at me.

“Do that again, and I’ll cut your legs off.” He threatened.

His threat was crystal clear. Obey or suffer the consequences. Shit. Everything was happening so quick, I barely even had any chance to react. I couldn’t ask anything else. Who knew what they would do if provoked to anger.

Right. The best thing to do would be to just cooperate with them and give them what they wanted. Maybe they’d let me go if I did that. It was naïve to think that way but I didn’t have much of a choice. I remained quiet and let them place a bag over my head.

I didn’t expect the painful blow to my head before everything went black.

LUCIANWeird was one of Violet’s favorite words to use but I’d noticed her odd behavior right from the moment we got to the restaurant.First the bouncing of her leg and the way she looked around so frantically like she was searching for someone. I’d been suspicious when she suddenly needed to go to the bathroom.Even Zayn and Reese had noticed her absence when minutes trickled by and she still hadn’t returned. To think this was what had been going on.“Violet?”The look of shock on her face immediately melted into something else. Embarrassment. She slowly turned to the man and tried to reach out to him.He made a small noise, flinching back rather violently. Violet wasn’t deterred, finally able to gently grab his shoulder.“I’m so sorry, I—There was a bit of a mix-up and I thought you were someone else.” She slowly handed him the phone. He still looked wary even if as he took it away from her. “I’m not in trouble?”She shook her head. “You’re okay. Like I said, there was a bit of a m

VIOLET“Anon?”It had been so low that I doubt anyone at the table caught on. They were too busy placing their orders to notice my panic.“What’s wrong?” Lucian asked, breaking through the haze in my head.Of course, he’d noticed. Even if the others hadn’t been paying attention, he always noticed these things.“What?” I blinked away the surprise. “Nothing’s wrong. Why do you ask?”He followed the path my gaze had been on, then turned back to me. “You sure?”Shit. He really had noticed. Curse him and his attentiveness. And here I’d thought I was so slick. The smile was easy to force on my face.“I’m fine. Honestly.”He let out a grunt, not sounding like he believed me. “I was asking what you wanted for dessert.”I turned back to the menu, running my eyes over the dessert section. Every bit of excitement I’d had initially had been replaced with anxiousness. I couldn’t check the man out again. Not when Lucian was paying increasing attention to me.“How about the lemon meringue?” I turned

VIOLETThe next few days that followed after the big reveal were pretty strange. Reese was the most stunned when she got to know. And dejected. No matter how grouchy or tough she liked to act, she could be pretty sensitive deep down. And the whole thing had hit her pretty hard. She refused to let me out of her sight most of the time after that.Thank God for Zayn forcing her away from me whenever it was necessary. At the moment, we were in the living room, with my head on her lap and her fingers stringing through her head.“Remember what you said about people mistaking us for a couple because of how we’re always together?” I broke the silence. She immediately shushed me. “Let them think what they want. You can’t always control the public’s opinion.”“Oh, really?” I stared at her in amusement. “I’d like you to keep up that same energy for as long as possible.”She stuck out her tongue. “I plan to.”I stared at her for a while longer before shaking my head. The reason behind all this fr

VIOLET“Are you serious?” I stepped forward. The guard turned to me, a disturbed look in his eyes as he nodded. “Yes, Luna.”Another growl left Lucian’s lips. “Well, who is it? Who’s the person behind this?”There was a small pause. It seemed the man was at a loss for what to say. Or rather he seemed too disturbed to speak. I knew if he didn’t get to talking anytime soon, Lucian would lose his cool and end up lashing out on him.I put a hand on Lucian’s shoulder, noting as the look of irritation in his eyes slowly softened. Turning back to the man, I steeled my expression once again.“Speak.”The man let out a deep breath. “We did a thorough investigation of their individual rooms hoping to find something. It ended up leaving us at a dead end. We considered coming to just report it to you but something pushed me to suggest searching her room.”I blinked. “You went through her belongings?”“Forgive me!” The man nearly slammed his head into the ground with how fast he bowed. “I know how

  • Revenge on The Alpha Who Rejected Me   Chapter 86 Apologies

LUCIANViolet blinked at me, a dumbfounded look on her face. “Huh?”“I said, I’m sorry.” I said, irritation bleeding into my tone. The pointed glare in her eyes made me let out a breath. Now was not the time to start getting irritated all over again. I’d made up my mind to apologize to her before the day ended. And lucky enough, I’d found her in my room.It still didn’t explain why she had my phone in her hand, but of course, the apology would come first.“My words and reasoning during the interrogation weren’t fair on you.” I continued. “You’re my Luna, and by default, that gives you as much right to be present there and the right to question them as you so please. I’m sorry, Violet.”For a while, she said nothing. It was to the point that the silence was almost deafening. Then she made a sound of surprise.“What’s with the sudden apology?” she scoffed. “Your rotten heart slowly starting to heal up? Or are you just a doppleganger masquerading as the real Lucian?”I ignored her obviou

  • Revenge on The Alpha Who Rejected Me   Chapter 85 To Believe or not to Believe

VIOLET“For the hundredth time, I am not avoiding him.”This conversation was starting to feel repetitive. And the longer I exchanged words with Reese, the more intense the feeling of déjà vu that was hitting me.I’d definitely had that conversation before. Reese was the closest thing to a best friend, someone I’d never had before. Which meant I told her every single thing that happened in my life (the fake bits of course), right down to what color of panties I was wearing. That was how much I trusted and cared about her. I wasn’t exactly lying to her. I only told her the bits and pieces of my relationship with Lucian. And I’d told her about the kiss. Well, tweaked it a little. She’d seemed puzzled as to why Lucian would go as far as avoiding me over something as simple as a kiss but eventually she let it go.Now though, it was a different case entirely. “Girl, be serious. You literally came all the way to my room to avoid staying in the same room with him.”“For a valid reason.” I ar
