5. Trials and trepidations

As I leave Theda's room, my mind goes to searching for David. I take the back door, it's closer to the path we followed earlier.

A lot of secret things are going on in the Moon's family and they are hiding it from the rest of the pack. Fuck, I should have asked her if her parents were aware of what is going on with her. But it may not be necessary, I need to find David.

A touch on my hand makes me to grunt out of frustration. I jerk my head to see the intruder. Wilford is standing in front of me with a stupid look on his face.

"What do you want, lad?"

"Uh - I wanted... I w - wanted to talk to you about something." He responds shyly.

"Be fast about it , lad."

It's funny how I call Theda a woman when I know too well that Wilford is way older than her. Even though he is a coward.

" I want to tell you that I admire you so much and will love to come to your pack and learn some important techniques from you."

I stare hard at him.

"How am I sure that you're not coming to my pack to spy on me and find out my weakness so that you'll use it against me one day."

The lad blushes from ear to ear.

"Of course not, Jared. I respect you and your pack, I simply want to learn from you. I have no bad intentions in mind. I really thought that you'll agree to this since you will soon be my sister's husband."

Is this kid being serious right now? Storman queries.

I snicker. The lad looks at me with surprise.

"Did I say anything wrong, Jared?"

Yeah, the fact that you think he's going to marry your wimp of a sister. Storman snorts.

"No, lad. You've said nothing wrong but I doubt becoming your sister's husband soon." I tell him amidst laughter.

"Why? I saw you coming out from her room a few minutes ago."

"She was drunk..."

Or just pretending to be drunk.

Storman, shut up.

"And she came to him, I had to take her to her room. Listen to me, young lad. You're free to stop by my pack and learn a few things for yourself. After all, you'll be needing it one day. Is that okay?"

"Yes, Jared. Thank you."

I turn to leave, time to find David.

David, where the hell are you? I mind link him but there is no response.

The line of communication have been cut off, I hope he is okay.

My visit to Moon pack have been graceful. I never thought that I'll gather so much information to use against Edward and his family when the right time comes

As for the marriage arrangement to Theda, I'm still thinking on a smart move to make on father in order to change his sharp mind. Since it's obvious that she has found her mate, I can still gather a strong evidence to use against her.

"Alpha Jared?" Another soft voice resounds in my ears.

I groan inwardly. I'm about to tell down whoever it is as I turn but words are cut short in my throat.

"Who are you?"

"My name is Myra. I saw you and your beta coming out from the dungeon side. Did you go to see Isabel?"

"Why do you care?"

" I am a friend of Isabel's. In fact, she is more like a younger sister to me. I can't go and see her because omegas are banned from going there. "

Tears drop freely from her eyes, I know she is telling me the truth.

"Yes, we went to see Isabel."

Her eyes lit up with a ray of hope.

"Is she okay? Are her wounds healing? What did she say?"

"Honestly, she's not fine. She's pale and dying but Edward has agreed to release her tomorrow morning."

The woman releases a sigh of relief.

"Then I'll take her to my pack."

Her face falls.

"You will take Isabel to your pack, why?"

"She's unconscious and needs serious treatment to recover. If I leave her here, she will probably die from mistreatment. You can't handle her medical expenses, can you?"

She shakes her head.

"Good, let me handle things my way. You do not have to worry about Isabel, I promise to take care of her until she recovers and one day, she will come back to you."

Footsteps shuffle at a distance. I relax when his scent hits me - David.

"Alpha Jared, what did I miss?"

"A lot of things, what did I miss?"

"Some erotic fun, who is this woman?"

I give her a nod to introduce herself. I have even forgotten the name she told me a while ago.

"Hi, beta. I am Myra, a close friend to Isabel."

"I see, were you worried about your friend's safety?" David asks.

"Yes, your alpha has told me her current status and I am really grateful for the solution that was brought up."

"It's alright."

"Can you two follow me? I want to introduce you to another person who is dear to Isabel and also wants to meet you too."

I and David exchange glances.

"Okay."

She leads us away from the small path into a wider one. We pass a riverside that reflected the moon and stars on it's surface.

Ahead of us, there is a small cottage with the lights on. The door is open and we follow the woman inside. There is an older woman who is sitting by the fireplace, humming a strange music.

When she turns to look at us. Her facial expression identifies her as the pack's seer, a woman who sees visions of the future and prophesies it to the people.

"It's a pleasure to see you, alpha Jared and beta David. I see that Myra has brought you here for the answers that you seek and I'm ready to reveal to you what you want to know."

We remain speechless while the seer continues talking.

"My name is Angelica, the seer of Moon pack. Before I start, how is my Isabel doing?"

"She's unconscious, I want to take her to my pack tomorrow and treat her well." I reply.

Angelica nods.

"The trials and trepidations have begun. She is going to face a lot of things that might build her or worse... Break her and tear her apart. And you, alpha Jared, will have a hand in building her destiny."

The seer loses focus, a sign that she is being revealed a vision. We sit quietly and wait for her to be done.

She must know, the reason why am here. The revenge that I offered to Isabel, my revenge against the Moon's family. But my curiosity remains the same, why is she not running off to reveal to Edward about things she sees since she swore her loyalty to him - all seers swear their loyalties to the alpha of the pack for the pack's interests.

"I do not swear my loyalty to any alpha. My loyalty is only sworn directly to the Moon goddess."

Her voice startles me and I clear my thoughts.

"What did the Moon goddess reveal to you?"

A look of terror appears on her face.

"Pain... A lot of pain. There will be mysteries which should be unraveled. Dark secrets and pasts that will be mind blowing, truths that can shatter one's destiny. Isabel needs all the support she can get in order to get through this. I already know that the three of you in this room will not betray her, well... Except for you, alpha Jared."

"What will happen between Isabel and I?"

"Betrayals, lack of trust, doubts and challenges that can bring you apart. I know that you want to help her get her revenge on the Moon's family. But if you are not careful, you may be the one to destroy her completely."

"Is there any way that we can avoid all this drama?" David asks. "Seriously, this shit is going to take us a lot ordeals to deal with. Can't we just skip the drama and things go smoothly without having to go through this?"

Angelica laughs out loud.

"There is no destiny without a drama. It is her destiny to leave this pack tomorrow morning if not, she might die in the next few days. Every one of you have a part to play in helping Isabel to fulfill her destiny, every one of you will help her in making a decision that will choose her path."

It is obvious that the seer will not be revealing anything else aside from this. She might have seen a lot but she has just told us the few things to be aware of, leaving us to discover the main deal on our own.

"Thank you for sharing this with us, Angelica. I will escort them back to the pack house and then come back to help you finish up with your cleaning." Myra offers.

Angelica smiles softly.

"You and Isabel have been the only ones who look after me at all times. May the Moon goddess bless you both with good health and wisdom."

Myra nods before leaving with us.

David, what should our next step be? I mind link him.

A right hand man inside the pack house. Someone that will be our eyes and nose, gathering much information for us until we are ready to strike. David replies.

Do you think we can trust her?

You heard the seer. She is definitely trustable.

"Myra.."

"Yes, alpha Jared."

"I know you heard everything that the seer said to us this evening. This means that you are aware of why we are here?"

Myra nods.

"Yes, alpha Jared. Do you wish for me to do anything for you?"

"Yes, we want to gather enough information to use against Edward and his family. First, we have some on Edward. He is having an affair with Presley."

"I knew about that a long time ago. I didn't have the guts to expose them because I knew they will turn it against me."

"Good, this means that you will make our work easier. You will be our spy here but be careful. Make sure that you will not be caught while doing it."

"I pledge my loyalty to you, alpha Jared. I will help you out and in return, you will take care of Isabel for me."

I smile.

Isabel has become my priority since the first day our eyes met at Theda's twentieth birthday party. I knew that there is an attachment to us when I inhaled her strong scent on me.

"I promise that to you."

The determination of this promise is very strong. My promise holds a lot, that includes not breaking her completely.

"Thank you. Good night, alpha Jared and beta David. I will see you tomorrow morning before you leave."

"We will be looking forward to it."

Myra takes another route that leads to the servant quarters.

"She's really a true friend." David says.

"I'm not sure Raven will like you sounding emotional on a paired she wolf, David." I tease him.

"Fuck off, Jared. I'm going to sleep. Good night."

I laugh out as he walks off, grumbling about things I can't hear. I go to my room and enter the shower immediately.

The cold water calms my hot body and I relax a bit, allowing my skin to absorb the cold water.

I think of Isabel. Her blonde hair, her pale skin and her blue aquamarine eyes. Wilford is a fool for rejecting her in the first place, she's such a sweet heart and beautiful attitude.

A beautiful woman like her deserve the best in her entire life.

I hope that she will find a second chance mate, someone that will replace the idiot and mend her broken heart. Storman stirs with a snort.
