Kevin's eyes fluttered open, greeted by the soft morning light filtering through the curtains. As his sleep-laden mind gradually awakened, he stretched and reached out for Vanya, expecting to feel her warm presence beside him. But to his surprise, the space next to him was empty.

Confusion crept into Kevin's thoughts as he sat up, scanning the room in search of Vanya. The gentle rustling of sheets caught his attention, and he turned his gaze to the neatly made side of the bed where Vanya should have been. His brow furrowed, a mix of worry and curiosity knitting together on his face.

With a growing sense of unease, Kevin swung his legs over the side of the bed and got up, his bare feet padding softly against the cool floor. He wandered through the house, calling out Vanya's name, but his voice seemed to echo back to him unanswered.

In the kitchen, he found no trace of her, the countertops bare and the faint aroma of yesterday's coffee lingering in the air. The balcony revealed no

The woman was suffocating from her own mistake and blinded revenge, not knowing that she had targeted the wrong person.‌The empty yet remorseful look on her eyes stared at the phone on her hand. A glimpse of sunlight hit Kevin's weary eyes as he blinked them several times. He yawned and got up from his slumber, rubbing the back of his neck and scanned his room. His eyes now glanced at the side of the bed where Vanya usually slept just before she disappeared somewhere without any explanation.‌That name rang something inside Kevin's heart. His thoughts began to wander as his feelings were torn in two. He should feel relieved that he was no longer haunted by fines against Gustav's company that sued him, but somehow, there was a feeling of confusion and restlessness. Coincidentally, Vanya disappeared from his life just after Kevin received a hefty amount of money to pay all the fines.‌The man exhaled deeply as he pressed his temples. He had no recollection of anything that could indicate the reason why Vanya had gone without any trace. No resignation letter, just a vague goodbye letter she wrote some months ago that was left on his home office's desk. Kevin still had that let

The night grew darker with no visible stars in the sky. While carrying her backpack, Vanya walked along the deserted sidewalk lit only by the dimming and flickering street lights. The blowing cold wind forced the young woman to tighten her jacket and spurred her steps faster. It was hard to leave her sickly mother and her younger sister who had just started a college life, but for Vanya it was for the better. ‌The dreaded woman kept walking, not even looking back at the shabby apartment that was far behind her. She tried to fight back the tears as she imagined how hard it was for her and everyone she loved. Even though leaving without goodbye was hard enough for Vanya, she thought it was better than seeing Kevin who was potentially looking for her there. ‌In her mind, Vanya didn't plan thoroughly on where she would stay at this moment. Vanya now had moved into the mansion belonging to the Goodwill family. Plus, the kind-hearted owner, Bertha, provided her with food and other facilities. To be frank, Vanya was still unsure whether or not she was still part of the Autoekomsten, since she hadn't given any resignation letter to her boss and former lover Kevin.‌At least now Vanya found the peace she looked for. ‌Every morning, Vanya started her routine by waking up early and dressed with the maid uniform Bertha gave to her. Once she was ready, Vanya took the duster to clean every surface at the ginormous mansion. It was a long day of cleaning, not to mention helping the house mistress setting up the room and table for her grand dinner party.‌She sighed in relief, wiping the sweats off her forehead as she leaned on the lounger chair.
